Rebel
Brooklyn's POV
I made it though the call back and now it was time for the chemistry read. I went over the scrip though my head over and over again. I paced back and forth while taking deep breaths. There were about five other girl's auditioning for Sophie and seven guys auditioning for Sky. I sat down in a chair and rested my face in my hands.
"Nervous?" someone next to me asked.
"You have no idea," I replied. "This has been what're you doing here?" I asked. Why, just why is he here. Seriously, it's like the world hates me.
"What do you think?" Sky asked. "I'm auditioning for....you know. I just didn't think you'd be here." Looks like Sky doesn't know me as well as I thought he did. I've told him a billion times that this is my dream show since I first saw it when it came out. It was my first role ever in theater and a lot of people say I look a lot like Amanda Seyfried. But I never thought so. That never stopped anyone from saying it though.
I'm going to act like that didn't sting.
Brooklyn get a hold of yourself! You aren't dating him anymore. So why should he remember something like that. He probably doesn't even remember the nickname he gave you.
"Fun Size" as annoying as it was I don't mind - stop. That's all in the past. You moved on a long time ago.
"Funny, I'm auditioning for Sophie," I replied casually. "As in my dream role since forever! But, it's not like you'd care anyways."
"So there's a chance that we'll be "in a relationship" eight times a week?!" Sky asked in shock.
"A small chance Mr.Flaherty," I replied coldly. "There are a lot of other people here and you and I may not even be in the show together."
"But still, you're like the perfect Sophie!"
"Wish I could say you're the perfect Sky," I said. "And not the Mamma Mia Sky. Nope. But Sky Flaherty."
"I happen to think I'm fine just the way I am," Sky replied firmly while looking me dead in the eyes.
"You feel into the orchestra pit twice! You forgot your lines who knows how many times! Oh, and let's not forgot you're a two timing pig!"
"You're no saint either!" Sky yelled. "If I remember correctly, you rolled your eyes so many damn times I thought you would fine a brain back there!"
"At least I graduate all four years of collage. And early I might add!" I yelled back.
"Hey! I've got a year of collage under my belt!"
"What belt?" I retorted. "You could barley keep your spenders on!"
"Shows how much you pay attention! I never wore spenders!"
"Shows how smart you are cause you did as a scab!"
"Brooklyn Masson and Sky Flaherty you're up!" someone yelled. Sky and I looked at each other before getting up. We boy tried to push it way thought the narrow door. When we got in ....Well, this is going to be the worst twenty minutes of my life.
"Ok, so just to double check, you were both in Newsies on Tour, correct?"
"Yes," Sky and I both replied with a small nod.
"You two are dating-"
"Dated," I corrected. "We used to date," I replied quietly.
"Well since this is a chemistry test you two will have to push those feelings aside and find that love and passion for this to work. There are two different scenes, one being a fight and the other will be where you two will have to kiss. And the duet you'll have to do and we would like to see how some dancing. Just a few steps will be good. Let's start with the fight scene because I can see that Miss Masson has it out for you Me.Flaherty. You two may start when ready."
"I've done something completely insane," I said in a panicked tone. "All my dads are here for our wedding, and they all think they're giving me away!"
"All your what?" Sky asked in shock.
"I read mom's diary, and I have three possible fathers."
"How are they here now?" Sky asked as he gently put his hands on my shoulders. Something that he did when wanted to make sure I was ok, or to get answers or just. It's just acting Brook, it's not really happening.
"I invited them," I replied quietly while looking down at the ground. "I thought that, that I would know my dad right away," I said while looking right into his eyes. "But I didn't. I just...I have no idea. Mom is gonna kill me, they're gonna hate me and you-" needless to say it go pretty intense and I'm not going to talk about the whole kissing my ex thing.
flashback
I was sitting in the gazebo thinking about life. And no, not my performing arts life. My personal life. All I saw was one big mess. If I take out the acting and dancing part of me, all I get is Brooklyn Masson. You're everyday run of the mill girl who can't get her life together. A girl who's had many surgeries, health problems that are more annoying than a bug bite, depression and anxiety that gets bag as frick when everything else is messed up and....
"There you are," a voice said. I looked up to see the last person I want to deal with right now. I took a deep breath in before standing up to leave. When I walked past Sky he gently grabbed my hand and said, "It was from Tiffany."
"What're you talking about?" I muttered under my breath.
"That text that "I" sent you. That was from Tiffany," he said. "I'd never in a million years say that kind of stuff about you," he said sweetly.
"Should probably get back to the hotel," was all I said before walking off. But I didn't get that far because Sky caught up to me and held me by the shoulders so I wouldn't leave.
"Brooklyn, just give five minutes to explain everything. That's it. Then you can hate me for the rest of your life." when I gave him a small nod he said, "Bottom line is that, you're the most amazing girl I've ever met. When ever I was with Tiffany all I saw was you. The only reason I was even with that girl was because I don't have all the details yet, but I thought someone else liked you, and that's when I met Tiffany and....I'm sorry I ended up hurting you. I didn't even know it until now."
It took me a few moments to process what Sky had just said. "How do I know you're not making this up?" I asked quietly. Sky then got his phone and showed me different screen shots of the texts I got from someone. a picture of the Instagram account that has been sending DM's and comments. Lastly out last text conversation.
"Now do you believe me?" he asked. Again, this was too much to take in. Yet, I was actually happy that he didn't say those things about me.
"How did you-"
"Long story," he cut off. "I care about you Brooklyn. Maybe more than I let on. Look, what I'm trying to say is-"
"Sky don't," I cut him off. I knew what was about to happen. "You can do so much better than a stupid girl like me," I said quietly while keeping my eyes on the ground.
"You're not stupid. I'm the one who didn't see a good thing when I had it," he replied sweetly. Sky then gently moved his hands to the back of my neck and slowly lifted up my head so now I was looking at him right in the eyes. "I like you Brooklyn Masson, I like you a lot. I don't care if you're my friend's little sister. I like you and that's all that matters."
I was speechless, completely speechless. That did not just happen. This is just another crazy dream, and I'm going to wake up in the hospital from a surgery, or from hitting my head. Or just. Why am I not waking up. C'mon Brook, wake up from this dream. There's no way this is happing.
When I realized I wasn't waking up I knew this was happing. This was real. All of it was real. Ok Brooklyn, stop listening to your head and listen to your heart. I took a few moments to hear what my heart was saying.
"Sky, I have a secret to tell you," I whispered softly.
"Yeah, what's that?" he asked with that stupid smile.
"I have a thing for dorky redheads," I replied. Let me tell you I've never seen a smile as big as the one Sky had in those few seconds. "And there just so happens to be one standing right in front of me." after a few moments I started to feel my self slowly close the gap between Sky and I. My hands went onto his shoulders, as I closed my eyes. And you can guess what happened next.
We kissed just as the lawn sprinklers went off. I let go in shock at the burst of water, and started laughing a little bit. When I looked back at Sky the next thing I knew his lips were back on mine. He moved his hands to my waist and pulled my closer. I giggled a little as I leaned up to get a better angle.
This boy is so much taller than me it's not even funny. But it sure is cute. And yes, I felt the sparks fly. When I felt like I couldn't breath anymore I pulled back, but I kept my hands where they were.
"Will you be my girlfriend," Sky asked quietly.
"You may not have kissed me in the pouring rain. But you took away the pain and I felt the sparks fly," I replied.
"So is that a yes?" he asked hopefully.
"Yes," I replied.
end of flashback
I was so lost in thought that I almost didn't see the tall guy in front of me. But I still bumped into him. "Sorry, I'm having an off day."
"It's whatever sweetheart," he replied. I was about to give him a piece of my mind. Only to notice he had brown hair and ocean blue eyes. He wearing black pants and a black t-shirt with white paint spatter on it. He was taller than me, as everyone always is. "The name's Rebel." he said proudly. "And what would they call a sweet little thing like you?" he asked while stepping a little closer to me.
"Brooklyn," I replied coldly while taking a step back. I've seen....Rebel's type before. Someone who thinks he's so that he's really just an ass.
"Funny isn't it?" Rebel asked with a smirk. "A girl named Brooklyn living in New York." I rolled my eyes before saying, "Nice talk, but I've got somewhere to be." I walked off, hoping that little shit head wasn't following me. But he did. I knew I should've packed my pepper spray.
"Now where's a pretty girl like you heading?" Rebel asked as he walked next to me. As if this day couldn't get bad enough. First, I have to kiss my ex-boyfriend, and now some stranger is following me. What next? Will I get a message that my dumb brother and best friend are eloping? Well, this day as already been bad enough. I wouldn't be surprised that would happen.
"Home," I replied. I turned the corner when it was the next one. But I didn't want this Rebel guy following me home. Just walk a few blocks and if he still following me I'll just take a cab home and switch cabs at the first red light. You can never be too careful in a place like New York.
Josh's POV
"I'm really worried about Sky," I whispered quietly.
"Really?" Ben whispered back. "He seems fine to me."
"He's become a couch potato, look!" I turned Ben's head to the couch where Sky. He was sitting on the couch with a bucket of vanilla ice cream, that had golden Oreos, and white chocolate chips inside. Oh and jelly beans, let's not forget the jelly beans. The tv was playing sappy Hallmark movies and ever so often Sky would sigh before taking a large spoon full of the ice cream.
"That's nothing new," Ben replied blowing it off.
"Benji," I said seriously. "Sky hates vanilla ice cream! He always says it's way too plain. Oh and don't even get me started on the golden Oreos and white chocolate! There isn't a person in this world who puts jelly beans in ice cream. If you still think that's not bad Sky is a chocolate man through and through. Oh and let's not forget the Hallmark movie fest that's happening right on our couch!"
"I am perfectly fine!" Sky yelled. "No need to worry about me Joshua cause I am peRFectLY fInE!" I looked at Ben as I gestured to Sky with a face. Ben only looked from me, then to Sky, then back at me, and said, "Ok so maybe-"
"Maybe!?" I yelled. "Sky is heartbroken-"
"No I'm not!" Sky yelled.
"About what happened!" I said while ignoring Sky's remarks that he was fine. "You are aware that they kissed today!"
"They did?" Ben asked. Ok, I'm just going to ignore that Ben is completely oblivious to what is happening right now.
"Yes they did! And what does vanilla ice cream, golden Oreos, white chocolate, jelly beans, and Hallmark movies remind you of?" I asked.
Ben thought for a moment before saying, "My great aunt Sally?"
"Yes Ben," I replied with a huge smile. "All those things remind Sky of your great aunt Sally. Not! It's Brooklyn you oblivious child!" I yelled.
"Really?"
Seriously? It's like I have to spell it out. "Brooklyn always smells like vanilla, she loves golden Oreos, white chocolate, jelly beans and Hallmark movies!"
"I like this stuff too fyi!" Sky yelled angrily.
"Only cause It reminds you of Brooklyn!" I yelled while tuning to Sky. Man, I really feel sorry for him. He's more heartbroken then he wants to admit. "Face it, Sky, you're still in love with her!"
"No I'm not!" Sky yelled back. "Besides, I saw her with this guy while walking out Starbucks.
"What guy?!" we both asked.
"I don't know. Dark-ish brown hair and ocean blue eyes. Now, when I say ocean I really mean it. More blue then Ben's! He was tall, and dressed in a lot of black. But not emo," Sky said.
Ben and I only looked at each other. From what Sky tells us I'm pretty sure whoever this guy is, he's a bad boy. Some one Brook should stay away from.

Author's note
Just a quick announcement that my computer has been acting slow and weird, it's getting fixed right now. But I don't know how long that'll be. I've got at least a few chapters finished so updates will be slowed down since I'll be writing the rest on my phone until I get my come back. So bare with me for the time being. Anyways thanks for reading.
