Blue and Red
Brooklyn's POV
"Hold I'm I'm coming!" I yelled as I ran to the door, which was being banged on as if there was a mob on the other side. As soon as I opened the door a redhead went ahead and yelled, "I got the part! Isn't that amazing!" He then pulled me into his arms and spun me around in excitement. I could feel Nick and Dylan's eyes as they watched this unfold. While I on the other hand was totally confused. "I got the part!" Sky yelled happily as he put me back on the ground.
"How about you stop screaming and tell me what this is about?" I said before he started yelling again.
"Would you believe me if I told you it was all because of a cat! A cat! This is why I'm a dog person. You can't trust cats," Sky rambled.
"What are talking about!?" I yelled.
"No need to yell Fun Size."
"Says the person who's been yelling since the door opened," I heard Nick spat. Dylan of course slapped him to shut up and I couldn't help but shake my head with a smile.
"Anyways you know how you said you didn't see Logan at the chemistry read?" Sky asked quickly. I nodded my head. "Well that's cause he was never meant to get the part of your love interest! It was supposed to me all along."
"What?" Was all I said. I was totally lost on Well....pretty much everything that was being said at this very moment.
"Apparently the casting director's cat messed up the paper work somehow. And with me having the same name as your love interest it just made it that much worse," Sky explained very quickly. I was only able to process so much that t took be awhile to completely understand.
But when I did the biggest smile appeared on my face as I hugged him tightly. "That's amazing Skybelle!" I exclaimed. "Truth be told I'm way more comfortable with you as the leading man than Logan. Anyways, Excitement aside maybe we should go out and celebrate?"
"Can't, looking at apartments today."
"Ben and Josh are finally kicking you out?" I asked with a small laugh.
"Something about me becoming a couch potato. But who's the one that isn't unemployed?" Sky asked with a smirk. "Anyways, I've gotta go now. But maybe we can go out to eat this weekend?" Sky then looked over my shoulder and said, "you two can come too. Well I've gotta go, see later Sophie," Sky said while giving me a small nudged.
"Not If I see you first," I joked as he walked out. I closed the door and pushed me back to it. That's when I noticed the weird looks I was getting. "What?" I asked.
"You still like Sky!" Dylan exclaimed. Before I could so much as open my mouth she yelled, "and don't say you don't! I saw the way you were flirting with him!"
"Flirting?" I asked in a shocked tone. is that what we're calling being happy for your friend now? "Why would I flirt with my ex for?"
"Just a couple of weeks ago you said you'd just act like he was dead," Nick added. "And as much as I hate to say it, you've still got it bad for Sky little sis."
"Skylyn is back baby!" Dylan yelled happily.
"Don't jinks it!" Nick yelled while slapping her arm. "I've got good money betting on they'll get back together in two days with Ben. He gave it three days. But I know my twin sister better than anyone, and knowing that she's a hopeless romantic and has it bad for Sky. I give it two days."
"She may be your sister Nicholas, but she's my best friend, and, while you're right about her being a hopeless romantic and having it bad for Sky, there's no way that she'll stay away for a full 48 hours. There for my very dumb boyfriend, you can put 30 bucks down that she'll break in one day," Dylan replied
"I'm adding fi-no, ten dollars that they'll kiss in the pouring rain," Nick added.
"fifteen that it'll happen on the sidewalk!" Dylan replied.
"You guys are just quoting sparks fly now," I said deadpanned. "And Stop making bets on me! You're wasting your time!" I yelled. "Sky and I are never ever, ever getting back together." It then hit me what I just said. "It's too late to catch me - I mean losing him was blue - loving him was - UGH! This isn't some love story! He went and hung out with that Rose girl when he should've said no, but after the break up it was bad blood! That girl took him away faster than I could say - what I meant to say is He was, I say again was the best thing that's ever been mine, but now Sky is just another picture to burn!" I shouted while crossing my arms. Once again it hit me what I had just said. "Ugh! You've got me doing it now too!"
Nick and Dylan looked at each other and smiled, as if to say they got what they wanted out of me, and I rolled my eyes in annoyance. I can safely say that things with Sky is back to normal. By that I mean we're just friends, nothing more, nothing less. I don't want things to go back to after the break up. That was already hard enough and I can't go through something like that again.
Besides I'm perfectly happy being single. I don't have to worry about looking good or anything that comes with a relationship. But I'm also a little sad. Every time I see Nick and Dylan being this cutencouple, it reminds me of the old days. Don't get me wrong I'm happy for them, just a little sad time to time.
"Are you guys gonna come with us this weekend?" I asked changing the subject.
"We already have plans," Dylan replied casually. "But by all means don't let that stop you from having a good time."
_____
"Can you believe they had the nerve to say I was flirting with Sky?" I asked Morgan as we got ready for rehearsal.
"Have you ever head the saying old feelings die hard?" Morgan asked quietly.
"It's old habits die hard," I replied deadpanned. "And I believe you're thinking that too," I exclaimed while tossing my hands in the air.
"Hey Fun Size," a voice said for behind. I turned around and sure enough Sky was standing there. "Listen I need some help with something."
"Shoot," I replied.
"Well, say there's this girl I'm trying to impress, and I want to show her I care about her. What I need to know is, what do you think is more romantic? A bouquet or just the one?"
It seemed like time stopped right then and there. I don't know why but, I'm suddenly getting this burning feeling in my stomach as I repeat his words over in my head. I quickly snapped back to reality as I said, "I've always thought that one is more romantic than a bunch."
"Thanks Fun Size," he said while lightly nudging my shoulder before walking off, but not before he walked back and asked, "what color? I'm thinking of going with a rose; yeah red is the most romantic, but I'm also leaning towards blue-"
"Sky," Morgan broke off. "I hate to break it to you but there's no such thing as blue roses."
"There is, and it's hard to explain," Sky replied.
"Why blue?" I asked,
"It's her favorite color and it brings out her eyes," he replied. I started to see Sky blush a little bit, and that's how I knew whoever this girl was he sure was getting serious with her. "But red is romantic and stuff, plus it'll only remind her of me cause you know." He gestured to his hair.
"Whatever happens I'm sure she'll love it," I replied while trying to keep a smile on my face. After that was said and done rehearsals started. Logan wasn't here since he was feeling pretty stupid. He is in the cast of Mamma Mia, but as a background dancer. I'm pretty sure he ain't coming back, and then there's Sky and his mystery girl. He hasn't even mentioned any girl to me since we started talking. And I know who will know.
______
"For the last time you dummies, I know you know who this girl is that Sky's going all out for! And I want to know who she is," I said firmly while looking Ben and Josh dead in the eyes.
"Why are you asking us?" Josh asked innocently.
"Stop with the act! I know you guys know!" I snapped.
"I always knew you'd become the crazy ex-girlfriend," Ben pointed out. Josh of corse snickered and I rolled my eyes. I forgot how impossible these two can be.
"Just tell me her name!" I yelled while getting really frustrated with every passing second. "I already know this mystery girl has blue eyes-"
"So do you Miss Masson," Ben cut off with a smirk. "Maybe you're this so called mystery girl."
"Please," I scoffed. "Sky has never shown in the slightest that he still has feelings for me. And last time I checked Mr.Cook, you also have blue eyes. Now, are you boys going to tell me who this girl is?"
"Why not just ask Sky if you want to know so badly!" Josh asked.
"Cause he'll think I'm being a crazy ex-girlfriend," I snapped.
"You kinda are," Ben mumbled.
"C'mon guys just tell me who this girl is?" I asked for the millionth time.
"You want to know?" Josh asked while standing up. "You really want to know?"
"That's what I've been asking since I got here!" I yelled while throwing my arms in the air. Finally we're getting somewhere! "It's some girl named Ella! And let me tell you that this girl almost looks a lot like you! Only her eyes are more blue, her hair is a little lighter then yours, she has way more freckles, and she probably has a couple of inches on you, and Sky is taking her out this Friday! There happy?" I felt my whole body go numb. I took a small step back and sat down on the nearest chair.
"We've tried talking to him," Ben added quietly. "But he wouldn't listen."
"If it makes you feel better, we both think you're much prettier," Josh said sweetly. "I'd take brown hair and bluish eyes over a blonde and pure blue any day. But don't tell Julia that."
"Same here!" Ben added happily. "And that's saying something. Look at me, I'm a blue eyed blonde." The smallest smile appeared on my face. Ben and Josh always knew how to make me smile when I'm feeling down in the dumps. "Don't tell Zoey I said that." Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that Zoey is dating Ben, and Julia is dating Josh? Well they are.
At least Alex and Fallon are still single, so I'm not completely alone. But I wouldn't count on that just yet. Alex says she really likes this one guy, and no, it isn't Chaz. Good to see that somethings in my dream never happened.
"Well, I should be going now. There's a pizza and a Netflix movie with my name on it," I said as I got up. "And don't tell him I was here. I don't him getting all sad before his big date or whatever." after taking a few steps I turned around and said, "And just so you know, I don't have any feelings for Sky. Haven't for a long time now. I've moved on ages ago. So don't you dummies go and think that I'm sulking, cause I'm not." with that being said I continued to walk towards the door.
I got up and walked over to the door just as it opened. It was Sky of course. He looked pretty shocked to see me here and was about to say something, but I went a head and said, "Ben and Josh told me about your big date." He got a even more shocked look on his face. "I hope you and this Ella girl have a nice night. I'll see you at rehearsal tomorrow," I said quietly before pushing past him and made a run for my place as quickly as I could.
_______
I laid thee on he bed as I hugged a pillow closer to me chest. I know I shouldn't be feeling this down in the dumps, but I do. I know Sky can make his own choices and date whoever he wants, but it still kinda hurts knowing what I used to have something like that with him.
Josh's words still rung in my head, over and over like a bell on a clock tower. I kept telling myself to stop being so sad about this, I don't even have feelings for him anymore. But I still couldn't get the thought of his arms around another girl.
If it wasn't for that stupid dream I probably wouldn't be feeling like this right now. I wonder, if I didn't even know who Sky was, would I have still fallen for him?
I was pulled out of my thoughts when I heard a soft knock on the door. With Dylan doing something with Nick I groaned as I got out of bed and dragged myself to the door. As soon as in opened it I saw Sky standing there in some nice dress clothes and three roses. Each one being a different color.
"Everything you think is wrong!" He said quickly before I even opened my mouth. "What I told you at rehearsals was just a cover up because I wanted this to be perfect. What Ben and Josh told you, they were covering for me too. I was going to do this Friday, but when I found out I came here as fast as I could to tell you that....that.....I'm still in love with you Brooklyn. And I have been ever since that day I bumped into you and made you spill your coffee. I'm in love with that way your eyes light up when you smile. I'm in love with every last one of your freckles and how it just pulls everything together. I'm in love with your laugh and the way you say my name. And most importantly, I'm in love with you. And I never stopped, I know that's hard to believe, but it's true. So let's forget about the past and see where this takes us now."
I stood there with wide eyes as I tried to process what just happened. Sky, as in my ex-boyfriend is standing in front of my apartment door in nice clothes and flowers just to tell me he still loves me?
But I guess the real question is, do I still love him? Even after he broke me heart into a million tiny prices, after putting me through all this anger, sadness and pain? For making me feel like I wasn't enough?
Does this explain why I felt that burning feel? Why I'm so happy when I'm around? Why I feel like something is missing when we're apart?
"I know you said one rose is more romantic," he started shyly. "But I couldn't decided which one was better. In my mind each color has a different meaning. The red is obviously love and romance. But it's also to remind you of me, I remember one time you said that one of your favorite things about me is my hair. But you were exhausted that night so you covered it up the next day by singing 22. The blue is for your beautiful blue eyes. And it drives me crazy trying to figure out if it's blue or grey or a combo of both. Either way I love your eyes and I know it's your favorite color. And the purple one is because when you mix red and blue, you get purple. And I feel like that's like our color. Call me crazy but I remember you when I went to that dance competition when I first laid eyes on you, you were wearing purple and I guess it's just a special color to me," he explained in a sweet and soft tone before handing me the roses.
I took them and looked at how the pretty they were. The petals looked soft, I could smell their sweet fragrance, and the colors all looked beautiful together. I looked up at Sky who had this looks on his face I've never seen before. "Sky, this is the sweetest thing someone has ever done for me," I said quietly. "And it's just hitting me now that, after everything I've been through after the break up that....I'm still in love with you too. It just took me sometime to figure it out."
The next thing I knew was that Sky pulled me closer and our lips met for the real first time in ages. And this wasn't a stilly little acting kiss, it was real. I could feel the sparks flying once again, and I couldn't be more happier.
