Chapter 5

Shadow froze. Flow was screaming and pointing at him, repeating the words.

"Possessed NightWing, POSSESSED NIGHTWING!"

Shadow whipped his wing around to shut her up, but that only made the SeaWing scream louder.

A sleepy Sahara stumbled out of the cave, her eyes wide and alert but still cloudy with tiredness.

"What's happening? Who died?" She mumbled.

Shadowsong hissed at Flow to shut up. The SeaWing did, but stood frozen at the entrance.

At this point, Shadow could see more and more dragonets poke their heads out of their caves, including Moss and Fox.

"Flow is...sleepwalking!" Shadowsong told his Clawmate.

"She...doesn't look...asleep." Sahara spoke slowly, her words blurred by sleepiness.

"Oh, but she is." Shadowsong assured Sahara, nudging her back to her den.

Then Flow howled once more. "Possessed NightWing!"

"What?" Moss asked from the other cave down the hall, walking closer warily. He wrapped a wing around his Clawmate, glaring at Shadow.

Mahogany and Owl stood at their cave entrance, with their tails intertwined. Fox hid behind them.

"She's probably having a nightmare. Always happens to me." Shadowsong brushed his tail on the stone ground, turning swiftly to head back to his nest.

He jerked backwards as something caught his tail. Sahara's tail was arched like a scorpion's, and her claws dug into the tip of Shadow's tail.

"Ow, that hurts!" Shadow complained. He shut up as Flow stared at him.

"Explain." Moss growled. Shadow had never seen a RainWing this fierce.

"Fine. I can...dreamwalk." Shadow sighed.

His friends glanced at each other uneasily. "Like a dreamvisitor?" Owl asked from the cave ahead.

"Yeah."

"Cool!" Sahara bounced up and down. "That's why I saw you in my dream!"

"Yup."

Wow. Were these dragonets being friendly about his powers?

"Sometimes, if you can relieve a memory in a dream, I'll see it." Shadow explained.

Flow had collapsed out of exhaustion it seemed. She slumped into Moss's grasp, and the RainWing's frills turned lightly green.

"Watch." Shadowsong took a deep breath.

"Flow."

The last he saw was Moss, Sahara and Owl's concerned looks as they all crowded around Shadowsong.

His vision cleared, and the NightWing was in the entrance to his cave.

Did it not work?

He pushed that thought away when he saw himself. He was seeing what Flow had seen.

Of what it looked like, Flow had walked past their cave on a late night walk, and had come across Shadowsong floating ominously in the cave just above the ground. The star on his head was glowing.

This is really what they all see? What mother sees?

Shadow was concerned. Was he really that scary?

Then Flow twitched. And Shadowsong awoke.

His Winglet crowded around him, Sahara in the front.

"So, what did you see?"
