Chapter 3
"Welcome, students!" A blue SeaWing called. Scales of all colors surrounded Shadowsong.
He tried not to think about Sahara, who sat beside him. He didn't want to faint again in front of her.
Then again, she wasn't sleeping, but who knows what Shadowsong's powers could do.
"We will be announcing the Winglets now! When you hear your name, go to the sign that correlates with your Winglet!" A burly MudWing told everyone from the front.
Shadowsong's ears flicked, and he curled his tail around his front talons. He listened closely.
"The Sapphire Winglet!" A little frail yellow SandWing spoke. "Mango the RainWing, Snowbird the IceWing, Futuredreamer the NightWing, Amber the MudWing, Bronze the SandWing, Tanager the SkyWing and Current the SeaWing!"
No name yet. At least not for Shadowsong or Sahara. Shadowsong held his tounge, staying quiet.
"The Topaz Winglet!" The SeaWing called. "Fossil the SandWing, Basilisk the RainWing, Char the SkyWing, Delta the MudWing, Wishgranter the NightWing, Snail the SeaWing, Mist the IceWing!"
Shadowsong and Sahara exchanged a glance. Could they end up in the same Winglet?
"The Sunstone Winglet," the MudWing yelled. "Owl the SkyWing, Sahara the SandWing, Moss the RainWing, Flow the SeaWing, Shadowsong the NightWing, Mahogany the MudWing, Fox the IceWing!"
Shadowsong's ears flicked back as he heard his name. Him and Sahara were in fact in the same Winglet.
The rest of the Winglets flew by, and frankly Shadowsong didn't care. He wasnt in any of those Winglets.
He walked up quietly to the rest of his Winglet. A dark brown MudWing sat talking with an orange SkyWing, and a green and gray RainWing bit at a papaya while talking with a blue-green SeaWing. An IceWing waved at Shadowsong and he waved back.
"I'm Sahara," the SandWing was explaining. "This is Shadowsong."
"Actually," Shadowsong's wings flicked. "Shadow is fine."
The Winglet murmured before nodding. "Who's our Clawmates?"
"I'm with Fox." The MudWing spoke up. "My name's Mahogany."
The RainWing didn't speak, but the SeaWing beside him spoke. "I'm Flow, and this is Moss."
The last to speak was the SkyWing. He pushed his wire glasses farther towards his eyes. "My name's Owl. Nice to meet you guys."
Sahara bounded down the halls. "This is so exciting! I've never seen the other tribes before!"
The Sunstone Winglet glanced at each other before following the bubbly SandWing.
Shadow walked slowly. He already had a headache and he couldn't stop thinking that maybe his dreamwalking power could be revealed at any moment.
