leaves crackle underneath my feet, I feel the wind blowing through my brown hair, twisting it into Knots. "Crunch!" I'm instantly on guard. It's probably a squirrel, I thought to my self, trying to calm the pounding of my heart, I should probably take a break, I'm getting a little tired. I slow down to a walk, senses on high alert, despite all my attempts to calm them. suddenly i feel a weight appear in my hand. Shocked I bring the strange object to my face, it was, oddly enough, a model horse, as I inspected the toy, I found a name "whirlpool" inscribed onto her right flank. (The model horse is the one that's in the cover for this chapter) "screech!" A creature flung itself out of the undergrowth, before racing towards me, teeth bared and demonic red eyes flashing, I screamed and flung the model, instinctively knowing it it would protect me. A burst of light, nearly blinded me, and I dropped to the ground curling up to protect my eyes, as the light fades, I swear I can hear a faint whinny. I hop to my feet and scan the area, but there is no sign of the monster that attacked me before, the only thing left is the model horse. As I reached out to grab it a loud voice screamed in my head, causing me to drop to my knees, "find him! Find the son of the oceans! Percy Jackson!"

"Ugh..." I raise my head from my pillow, blinking blearily at the flashing numbers on my alarm clock as it blares out the current most popular music, sure, "popular", nobody really appreciates music, and I mean real music, none of this stupid "pop" and "hip hop". Bleh. As I scramble around my room in a desperate attempt to scrape together an outfit that looked even vaguely acceptable I resign myself to yet another day of rushing to the bus stop and nearly missing the stupid thing.

"Great..." I grumble as I head towards the office, I had been assigned to "welcome duty" for new students, basically theY followed me around like a lovesick puppy for a week before they got their own schedule, real brilliant school, real brilliant. Now who was I supposed to lead around again? Dang it, I forgot! You think it would be easier to remember these kids names with my parent unit constantly reminding me. I fumble with the opening of my backpack for a moment, before pulling out a severely crumpled half-sheet. I straightened out the paper to the best of my ability, before squinting as I tried to make sense of what is was seeing. umm... Pev, No, per, cy? Percy jaek, jack, son, Percy Jackson. Wait, what! No, oh no no no no no. This is so not happening, dreams can't suddenly become reality, can they? Well, one things for sure, this is gonna be one heck of a day.

End of chapter 1. Yay! I finally started something! 531 words! Not bad for a starter.
