Y/n's pov

I've been in training for months, working toward being a knight of the kingdom Minecraftia. Today was finally the day I would be assigned a partner, and I would begin my roll as a knight. Since I was little, it was my dream to ride horseback and fight for the kingdom I grew up in.

I would be the first female knight, since the roll mainly went to males. I was put through one final test, and deemed a knight. I was let down several winding corridors to the horse barn, where a horse would be assigned mine.

I was led into a pen with several unclaimed horses. "Stand in the middle, let a horse choose you." Lex, the Queens best guard told me. She was very important to the kingdom. Queen Alex relied on her for most needs.

I stood in the center of the pen, and the horses began walking around me in circles, looking at me and stomping their hooves as they trotted. The horses calmed, and a beautiful black horse with a small white patch on its chest walked to me.

I reached my hand out for it to sniff, and it pressed its head into my hand. "She's a Clydesdale, one of the best horses we have, and it looks like she's chosen you." Lex said, opening the gate and walking in to lead the horse out of the pen. I walked out after the horse and closed and locked the gate.

"Does she have a name?" I asked, walking beside Lex as she led the majestic large horse.

"No, none of the unassigned horses are named." She said. We stopped walking where the horses saddles and things were stored.

I put my hand under the horses chin and stroked her snoot with my other hand. She had emerald green eyes, one of the rarest eye colors for a horse. "Her eyes are beautiful." I said. "She's special, never have I seen a black Clydesdale with green eyes such as hers. You must be pretty special for her to pick you." She said, putting a saddle on her back.

"Got a name?" Lex asked. "Ace." I said. "Ace of Spades. She's powerful, like the ace." I finished.

We got her saddled up and I got myself up on the tall horse, and rode her out the front barn door. We rode for a few minutes before we turned around and headed back into the barn. Lex was standing in front of a stall. "This is where she'll be." She said, patting the open gate before her.

I hopped off of Ace and lead her into her stall. "You'll have first watch tonight, you'll meet your partner at the front gates tonight at nine pm on horseback.

I nod and follow her instructions.

Nine rolled around and I went to the barn to retrieve Ace. She trotted out of the barn and we made our way to the front gates. I was met by my partner, who was on a pure white horse with dark blue eyes. The y'all boy on the horse looked at me as I approached.

"Y/?" He asked. "And who might you be?" I asked, my horse stopped walking as I looked over at the blonde haired boy, who had his head turned from me.

"Dream." He said, though I know that can't be his real name. "Nice to meet you, I'm your partner, I'm sure you've been told."

He nodded in response. "We head that way tonight." He pointed South, opposite direction of the kingdom. "You know..." he started. "You're the first female to be a knight." He said.

"Well there isn't exactly a female equivalent-" I said, but I stopped when he looked at me. His eyes were emerald green, glistening in the moonlight.

But his eyes were familiar. "Clay?" I ask. Clay was my childhood friend, I'm only a couple years younger than him and when he started working for the Queen, we lost contact and couldn't see each other anymore. We were best friends, and if I'm being honest, I grew to like him more than friends.

"Hi." He smiled a bit. "Been a while N/n." He said. "I can't believe it's you, I haven't seen you in forever!" I said, but in a hushed tone as it was dark out.

"You're beautiful." He complimented, making a light blush appear on my cheeks. "You're not to bad yourself." I said, though I'm not the best with any kind of affection, especially when it comes to compliments.

He smiled a bit but it quickly faded as he fixed his eyes ahead of him. "Let's go." He said, suddenly in a very serious tone, which caused my smile to drop, and instead of being confused about it I focused my eyes forward too.

Dream pulled the reigns on his horse and started galloping along, me following quickly behind. I pulled out my sword, as did Dream as we approached mobs spawning everywhere along the grassy hill.

I had been in training for this for so long, and this was about to be amazing.

Left and right I was killing, decapitating zombies, stabbing spiders and demolishing skeletons. The horde of mobs disappeared from sight and we slowed our horses pace. "Y/n- that was amazing!" Dream said, "pretty top of the line for a beginner." He said.

I shrugged like it was nothing. "I've been training for a while." I said. "Alright, more mobs ahead. C'mon Phenix!" He said to his horse and started riding again.

"Phenix.." I whispered to myself. "Badass name." I said quietly again, riding after Dream.

We were fighting until sunrise, beating the shit out of ourselves by fighting so much, but it was worth it.

We were heading home, riding slowly along the tree line, that's when I heard a horrible scream from Dream as he was shot. The arrow had enough force to knock Dream right off his horse. "DREAM!" I exclaimed.

"don't worry," he groaned, his hand on his shoulder near the arrow. "GET THE SKELLY!" He screamed but I happened to already be attacking it. I killed it from under the tree and quickly hopped off of Ace and knelt beside Dream.

"Oh my god," I said. "Let's go, we have to get you to the doctor." I said, I could see tears pricking his eyes. "OH MY GOD!" He exclaimed, startling me a bit. "I'm sorry Dream, let's go." I said, running a hand through his fluffy dirty blonde hair before carefully helping him up. "Your horse ran off, back to the kingdom, you'll have to ride with me. It's too far to walk within a reasonable amount of time." I said. "We can't take the arrow out right now, that thing is keeping you from bleeding out and dying. You're lucky the arrow didn't kill you." I finished, but it was true.

I helped him onto the horse and I sat in front of him. "How well can you hang on with your good arm?" I asked, not going yet. I felt an arm wrap around me from my right shoulder to my left. "It HURTS!" He said, burying his head in the crook of my neck. "Just go." He said.

We got into the kingdom and I rode to the doctors and stopped out front. "Help!" I exclaimed quickly, beginning to help Dream off the horse. A moment later a man came out of the house and helped with Dream. He was half conscious.

I was waiting in the small room when you first walk in, they had the arrow out, and another scream sent from Dream told me that. I felt horrible for him. Why wasn't I keeping a better eye out?

A little while later the doctor came out and told me I could see Dream. I entered the room and saw him sitting on the bed with some thicc bandaging on his shoulder. (Idk I'm tired lmao)

"I'm sorry." I muttered. "It's okay, it's my fault for not seeing it." He said. "Well it feels like my fault." I said. Dream and I were the only people in the room. "Well it's okay, I'm okay." He said. "Thank you for helping me." He said.

"Of course, why would I not help you?" I questioned. "I dunno, a while ago I had a partner who just left me in the dust with an arrow in my thigh." He said. "I fell of my horse then too, luckily she didn't run off that time." He finished. "That's just awful." I said.

I fluffed his hair because it was so fluffy. "You like my hair?" He asked, and laughed lightly. "It's fluffy." I said.

He stood up and put a hand on my face before kissing me passionately. "Well I like you." He said once he pulled away. My heart rate was going crazy, and I imagine his was too. "I- I like you too." I admitted.

"I just couldn't bring myself to say it before I left years ago, and it soon became too late." He said.
