Renna

After two days, Kev came into the room. "Do you want to talk now?"

I looked at him. "Do I have any other options?"

Kev sighed and shook his head. "No, Renna; just tell me what you were thinking?"

I shot up my shoulders. "I wanted him to taste his own medicine for once."

Kev pointed at me. "But it backfired on you and now you've been served with a restraining order, and in this entire scenario, you became the bad guy."

I whined while trying to explain myself. "All I wanted was for him to admit that whatever he did to me was wrong and he feels guilty about it."

Kev squinted. "Does it really make any difference to you if he feels guilty or not?"

Tears rolled down my cheeks. "After ruining my life, he is living a normal life like nothing ever happened."

Kev reminded me. "He returned from rehab and is clean."

I admitted. "I know whatever I did was wrong; I wasn't thinking clearly. when I heard he was back in town, he got on my nerves."

Kev responded. "He never left town for his entire life, yet he went to treatment, his return was guaranteed."

I sighed. "I think I need a break from New York. I can't live here anymore, especially since I was in police custody. I can't face my family right now, but maybe in the future, I will be able to answer them."

Kev pointed at me. "You're coming with me; I can't leave you alone and allow you to continue acting so recklessly."

I shook my head. "I can't pile on you, Kev."

Kev flicked his hand. "You're coming, discussion is over. Get ready; we're leaving in an hour, and we're heading to South Shore and then Glisten."

I stood up. "I think I should go downstairs to say goodbye."

Kev nodded. "Mom and Meredith are in the garden."

Meredith is Kev's half-little sister. She is five. I went to the garden and waved to Meredith and Ruth, Kev's mom. "Hello."

Meredith looked at me. "Are you also leaving like Kay?"

I squeezed her cheeks. "Yes, but I'll invite you to my place and you have to come; no excuses."

Meredith kept both hands under her chin. "But Kay wants me to stay with him."

I smiled. "Aww, you can stay wherever you want, munchkin."

Meredith giggled. Kev came downstairs and we said goodbye to them. During travel, Kev kept in contact with Sawyer. Kev has only been in touch with Sawyer, a family friend, during all the years he has been away from Glisten City. I didn't want to talk, so I closed my eyes and took a trip down memory lane.

Mom was shocked by the new green lines in my hair at dinner, and dad was critical of how I eat and my tattooed neck. Thank God my arms and ankle tattoos are not visible to them right now. I tried my best not to take offense to any of their comments. However, I had enough time for the day, so I stood up.

Mom looked at me. "You haven't finished,"

I sighed. "I've lost my appetite!" and walked out of the hostile atmosphere. My phone started ringing and I picked it up and Logan invited me to his party. I immediately said yes to his offer and, like always, I refrained from using any Forge's car. Kev came to pick me up.

Kev asked. "With whom are you partying tonight?"

I looked at him. "Logan Vaughn"

Kev asked. "Logan Vaughn from the Vaughn family?"

I smiled. "Yeah, that Vaughn."

Kev asked. "Is he your new boyfriend?"

I winked. "We are having fun."

When he stopped the engine, Kev looked at the building. "This place is looking shady."

I told him. "Logan has his style; he keeps his parties' low profile."

Kev chuckled. "I feel like Anderson is going to toss you out again tomorrow morning."

I slammed the door of his car and went inside the building. Little did I know that stepping into that party would lead to the worst night of my life, haunting me. The loud music and lively atmosphere masked the darker reality within. I searched for Logan amidst the crowd and eventually found him in a room filled with smoke, seated in a haze.

When I called him and he looked at me, I noticed traces of powder on his face, revealing his true state. He came to me and dragged me into bed. I asked him to let me go but he was not listening. I panicked and tried to call someone for help. Kev's number was on my last dial and he heard my screams. I had no idea when he came and took me to the hospital.

I woke up in a hospital. My family was all around me. Tears started to run down my cheeks. I looked at Kev. "Did Logan?"

Kev shook his head. "Nothing happened; you passed out due to excess smoke in your lungs."

I asked in anger. "Where the hell is he now?"

My mom intervened. "Vaughn's are dealing with their wasted offspring."

Dad clenched his jaws. "What the hell were you doing with those drug addicts?"

I shook my head. "I had no idea, dad; you think if I had known this, I would have gone there."

Hannah kept her hand on me. "You scared us, Renna."

Jenna looked at me. "I think we should let her rest." Then she blows me a secret kiss.

After discharge, Dad gave me two options, either to join his business or leave his mansion so I chose the second option because I couldn't spend the rest of my life being his slave.

Kev called my name and I came back from my memories. Kev introduced me to his friend Sawyer and his wife Valerie. I had a new perspective after spending two days with Sawyer, Valerie, and their sweet three-year-old son Damien. Witnessing their bond, I started to believe that real love does exist.

I looked at Kev's constant efforts to buy Margot, the love of his life, a beach house to win her back. It made me think about David and Kev's mom and how they met and fell in love. These love stories ignited a spark in me to write something like that. I've always had a passion for writing but never pursued it because of the strained relationship I had with my parents. Instead, I intentionally sought out jobs that would challenge their powerful social status.

Ten years ago, if someone had told me Kev and I would become such close friends, I never would have believed it because I hated it when my dad asked me to help Kev with school because he started in the middle of the year, but Kev and I became friends on his first day at school. We always hung out together, so at first, everyone thought we were dating, but as time went on, they realized we were just friends when they saw us with other guys and girls. He told me why he left Glisten, which made me despise Ian because he had gotten in the way of my best friend and his love.

My relationship with Ruth and David, Kev's stepfather, is deeper than my own parents. I felt more at home with them than with my parents, I always found refuge in Kev's apartment whenever Dad threw me out.

After Logan, my relationships typically lasted for a week, as I always bailed out of situations where someone tried to get close to me. After that, the guy never communicated with me again. When I left the Forge mansion, Kev offered me a job to write for one of his dad's magazines anonymously. It was my first step in distancing myself from the Forge dynasty.

When Kev was showing me around the beach house he bought for Margot, I told him about my decision to start writing. At first, he laughed but when he sensed I was dead serious, he teased me. "If I had known your visit to the precinct would transform you into a writer, I would have asked them to arrest you a long time ago."

I rolled my eyes. "Jerk."

After we reached Glisten, I refused to stay with Kev even for a night, so for the time being, he arranged for me to stay in a hotel near his place, and when he gave me the key to my room, I told him. "I will pay you back soon."

Kev raised his brow. "Yeah, right, every single penny, since we met."

We laughed and then he left for his place, and I went to my room.
