A dream

The soft tik tik tik of the clock wouldn't typically be heard by anyone in the room full of talking from both people and the television, unless you were listening for it.

Sayori was.

The conversation didn't interest her much. But that was ok. MC seemed to be having fun. The girl enjoyed introducing her best friend to her other friends, since he always seemed to have such a hard time making friends himself. The three of them were cracking jokes and throwing the pillows on the ground at each other, while Sayori hogged the snacks and occasionally offered some to the others. It wasn't night yet, but it would be sundown in an hour or two. Maybe she could convince the other three to sit on the porch and watch the sunset. Even if they said no she'd sneak away and do it anyway. Maybe MC would come join her if she asked.

Tik tik tik.

The TV was bright, playing a comedy movie one of her friends had prepared. She smiled at the jokes on the screen, even if they weren't her sense of humor. The blankets beneath them, the result of a failed pillow fort, felt soft. Sayori set the bowl of food aside and leaned against a nearby pillow, blue eyes staring into nothing.

Tik tik tik.

She was fighting to stay awake at this point, the world blurring a bit and her senses numbing. Eventually it was too much, and she settled into a nap.

When Sayori opened her eyes, she could still hear her friends talking. She glanced at the clock. It wasn't ticking anymore, nor was it moving. She sat up a bit as she stared more. The wall was covered in nails.

She looked around. All the walls were covered in nails. The kind of old rusty ones you'd find in a shed.

Blinking the sleep from her eyes, Sayori opened her mouth to ask her friends about the walls. She quickly stopped though.

There was a 5th person. She seemed older than the 4 of them, probably a high school student or someone around that age, if the girl had to guess. Her eyes were a bright green, her skin pale, her hair was a very light orangeish brown, done with a bow tying up a pony tail, and wearing a school uniform of some kind. She was pretty.

The girl told a joke, but Sayori didn't hear it. Her friends laughed at it anyway.

Tik tik tik.

Her eye's opened wide, Sayori laying still on the ground. Her friends were laughing, staring at the TV.

Oh. The TV must of woken me up.

She rubbed her eyes, slowly sitting up. The sun was starting to set.

Who was that person?
She wondered.
And how did they know to tell a joke at that moment?
