Lesson two: You need you

You only need you. Yes, people have their impacts on us, they make us, mould is to the beings we are. But to make your dreams come true, you need to believe in yourself, just you,  not your next door neighbour nor your best friend.

Why I say this, it's extremely to important to believe in yourself because when you're a new writer on Wattpad nobody will read because you're new and as they don't know how amazing you write yet, but you have to believe, you have to know that you can get there, one day you'll have readers.

If I talk about my own experience, when I started writing, I had about five chapters, and I told every living being I know about wattpad, but no one ever read, they encourage me to write on but nobody ever downloaded the app and nobody ever decided it was time they should read and actually give me extra motivation.

My friend who introduced me to wattpad, she read but never voted XD like why??? She knew exactly what was happening in every chapter and asked me questions but never voted. Hidden within sat there for a month and three days before my first reader popped up! My first reader, RainsDesire279 made me dance that day and I don't do that much often! After her I had no readers consistent readers, just a voter here and there. So I decided to join a book club where I found my first friend, canibuyturtleseeds ! She was a great reader and an amazing writer! She was my only reade for like another three to two weeks. Yet, I never gave up.

I'm not a role model or the most hopeful person in this world but I know for a fact that giving up hope won't help me in this case. One common mistake we make as writers is the we think we write for readers but no, we write  for ourselves. writing in the way of us expressing our passion, expressing our love expressing or venting to be honest. If you don't write for yourself you can't write for others. So at the end of the day, when you sit there hoping somebody will read, and when they don't you stop, that shouldn't be you.

Let me share with you why I write. Let me tell you what fuels hidden within. When I first started writing in Wattpad, my mum told me there were millions and millions of people writing on this platform not all of these millions of millions of people will get this chance to have the work out of it to have the work published so there's no point I was wasting time. I wanted to prove her wrong because that's me, I'm rebellious in some ways and occasions. Her word stood as a challenge, something I had to achieve to prove that this was worth it. I've been writing hidden within for about five months and the response I have gotten so far from my reader is so much more than I ever expected I thought by the end of my writing journey, which I estimated would take about a year, I would get around 1K reads and 500 votes. I estimated this because I write for myself, I wrote so I could take the story that I have stored inside me for eight years out there. Yes, I did have intentions of being is being a known writer, somebody who others will look up to you, but that wasn't the fuels that was driving me, I was driving myself and that's important if you want to be the writer everyone looks up to because if you don't look up to yourself no one will.

When hidden within wasn't doing so good I decided to publish another book. This one was a book based on friendship and poetry, so it's a teen fiction novel. It was doing way better than him hidden within and I was happy. After about a few a few weeks I decided to put it on hold because"hidden within" was something I write for myself but "I can't let you go" was for my readers. I realise I don't want to be that person, I wanted to be the one who writes for herself. If you don't write for yourself, I suggest, you stop for a second, look back and decide. Does your story have YOU in it?

Who do you write for?

What do you think of my way of looking at this topic of writing?

A special thank you to my favourite readers, OutgoingLoner_7 and @Nightkrawler
