Chapter 9
Hello small group of people who are still following this for whatever reason!
So this is kind of an announcement and kind of an update? Basically, I realized that I don't really use Wattpad anymore, but I randomly remembered I had this unfinished story, which I left off on a cliffhanger. I'm an idiot.
So yeah, I wanted to say that I don't plan on writing an official ending to this story, but as I've stated in so many other author's notes, I don't want to abandon this fic. I figured I could meet myself halfway by sharing an overview of what I had planned for the story. I did find another chapter and a half? that I had saved in my files, so I'll post that here, and then add some plot points that constitute the ending. I haven't really edited them, I'm just copying and pasting, so hopefully they still make sense. Without further ado, here is the long awaited final chapter.
Emma sat in the corner with her sketchbook, watching the officers preparing for the raid on Green Co. She knew she should probably be getting ready too, but she was nervous, and sketching helped calm her. She barely looked up when Captain Haddock sat down beside her.
"I can't believe we're finally going to get him," the Captain admitted. "And no ransom paying, either. Just a good old-fashioned police raid. Betcha Tintin'll be glad to see us."
"Yeah, I bet he will," she replied. There was a slight smile on her face, but if she had looked up the Captain would have noticed it didn't reach her eyes. Even so, he could still tell something was wrong.
"You don't sound very excited," he commented. "I figured you'd be raring to go. We never would have gotten this far without your encouragement. Like I said before, I would have just paid off the ransom. Tintin would not have been very happy."
"I doubt he's very happy now, either," Emma muttered darkly. Her tone concerned the Captain. She had voiced her concerns while they were waiting for the police in Black's disguised shop, but he had thought she'd gotten over that. Clearly, though, it ran much deeper than a moment of self-doubt.
"He will be when you get there."
Emma finally looked up at him. There were tears in her eyes, but her smile was real this time. She leaned in, enveloping him in a tight embrace. It caught the Captain off guard, but he was quick to accept it. He wasn't normally a hugger, but he would make an exception for her. He smiled down at her as she finally let go, and continued as if nothing had happened.
"Now, you'd better get ready. The chief told me we'd be leaving in an hour."
Emma wiped her eyes on her sleeve and nodded as Captain Haddock went to stand. Just before he turned the corner, she called back to him.
"And Captain." he spun to face her, and she gave him another wet smile. "Thanks."
Rather than reply, he gave her a salute, which made her giggle, before heading off to finish getting ready for the raid.

Kelly frowned at the bloody knife in her hand. Tintin hadn't screamed when she stabbed him like she had hoped he would. In fact, he hadn't let out more than a grunt. By the second stab, he was already unconscious. It was incredibly disappointing. She was expecting more from him. She hadn't kept at it. It was no fun when he couldn't see it coming, when she couldn't watch the pain cross his face as punishment for ruining her life. She had left him there, hanging from his arms in the storage room. She would rejoin him when he regained consciousness. If he regained it, that was. He was obviously weak already, and she hadn't done anything to stop his bleeding wounds. It was pitiful, really. He hadn't even been able to form a coherent sentence. She glanced up at her monitor. The screen displayed the footage from the storage unit where Tintin was hanging. He had yet to wake up, but his face was contorted in pain. It seemed even unconsciousness wasn't enough to allow him to escape. She smirked. Maybe it wasn't all bad. She rather liked the idea of the great Tintin being reduced to this; stuttering and in pain, completely at her mercy. Still, she did hope he would wake up. It would be a shame for everything to end so quickly.
Suddenly, an alarm went off. Kelly glanced at her other security monitors. It was the police. They had come for her. They had come for him.
"No," she said aloud. "NO!"
How had they found her? She'd made sure to leave nothing but a pile of rubble. She had ordered Black to be shot on sight. Had one of her own men betrayed her? She scanned the faces of the officers making their way through her building. Her eyes narrowed at the screen displaying the feed from out front. There, waiting for the all-clear to enter, was that Emma girl from the alley. The one who had messed up her plans.
The police were close to where Tintin was being held. There was no time for her to reach him before they found him. And when they did, they would send men into the rest of the building looking for her. She had to leave if she wanted to get away. Casting one last glance at the screen showing her enemy, Kelly fled from the building through a secret door, throwing a promise over her shoulder: "I will get my revenge."

Emma stood impatiently outside the warehouse. She had made her frustration quite clear when the police captain told her she had to wait outside. She made the trek down that long, secret tunnel. She had helped bring in the notorious Felix Black. But she was not a cop. So she was made to wait outside while the police went in to find Tintin.
The large sign displaying the words "Green Co. Weapons Manufacturer '' seemed to mock her. In her frustration, she glared at it, but it quickly turned to a look of concentration as she tried to recall why the name seemed so familiar. She shook her head. The name had been mentioned so many times in the last few hours that it was probably just messing with her. She refocused her attention on Captain Haddock, who was coming up beside her.
"The Police just told me that they found Tintin. The rest of the building is clear. You can go see him now."
Emma let out a breath she didn't realize she's been holding. "Did they find who took him?"
Haddock gave her a somber look before shaking his head. "They found a room full of monitors, but whoever was there had fled. Hey, look at me," he grabbed her shoulders as she angrily tried to push past him. "Tintin needs you right now. Go be with him. Let the police worry about finding who did this."
Reluctantly, Emma nodded. She followed the Captain over to where a medical team was just strapping Tintin onto a stretcher. "Tintin!" she yelled as she rushed forward. He was still unconscious, and a large bandage on his chest was speckled with red as his wounds started to bleed through. Emma pressed one hand to her mouth, while her other reached for his. She vaguely registered Captain Haddock explaining who she was to the medical team, and they let her stay with him as they loaded him into the ambulance and headed toward the hospital.
Disclaimer: I'm using a sort of floating timeline for this story. It's not set specifically in any time period, and I'm kind of choosing at random which technology to include or exclude. I've made references to discs and monitors, and in this chapter, there is going to be some hospital equipment. I am in no way trying to convey how an actual hospital is run, I'm just simply choosing things from the media and my own experience that seem right for the situation. Thank you for understanding.
Emma held Tintin's limp hand in hers the whole way to the hospital. She only let go when the doctors informed her she wasn't allowed to follow them to the operating room. Somehow, she managed to get to the waiting room, which is where Captain Haddock and Professor Calculus found her some time later. No one said much as they waited for news on Tintin's condition. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, but was really only a couple of hours, a doctor came through the door and called Tintin's name.
"I'm really only supposed to talk to the family," The doctor said, looking between the three faces eagerly staring back at him.
"We're as close to family as he's got," Haddock explained gruffly. "He lives with me and the Professor at Marlinspike Hall, and Emma here is allowed to know everything we are."
The doctor gave them each a furtive glance but turned toward his clipboard as he explained the situation.
"The wounds in his chest were deep, but they managed to avoid any major organs. We've stitched him up and given him a blood transfusion since he lost so much blood. He's on medication for the pain, and an IV for the dehydration. He should be fine now, but we'd like to keep him here for observation for a couple of days, just to make sure the wounds don't get infected."
The group let out a collective sigh of relief. It was Emma who voiced what they were all thinking. "Can we go see him?"
"He hasn't woken up yet, but you should be able to visit him. Only for a little bit, though. The hospital has a strict policy on visiting hours. One of you can stay with him overnight, but the rest will have to come back in the morning." The three of them nodded in understanding as the doctor led them to Tintin's hospital room.
That's everything I already had written. The plan was for Emma to end up staying with Tintin, who doesn't wake up for a while. It's very concerning.
At some point, Kelly visits Emma and Tintin, who has not woken up to tell anyone who did this to him and is unable to warn Emma that she is speaking with the enemy. Dramatic Irony!
Emma engages in polite conversation with Kelly, since she remembers her from the mugging incident. At some point during the conversation, Kelly says something weird and Emma starts getting suspicious.
Kelly finally reveals her true colors and attempts to kill Emma, who she now believes is her true enemy due to a messed up sense of logic. She also has it in her head that killing Emma will be the best way to hurt Tintin, even though I never gave them enough time to develop their relationship. (To be fair to myself, this story is several years old and, even if I say so myself, my writing skill has greatly improved.)
In true dramatic fashion, Tintin wakes up just in time to see what is happening and hits the call button by his hospital bed. Kelly is so surprised by this that he is able to hold her off just long enough for the authorities to intervene.
Kelly is arrested, and Emma and Tintin reunite. There's some fluffy, most likely cliché dialogue at the end that hints at their relationship being stronger due to this whole ordeal.
And that's how I planned the ending. Sorry if it wasn't what you were expecting, especially with the snarky comments about my own taste in writing. I hope it at least satisfied the cliffhanger and offered some closure.
Can I mark this as a completed story now?
Thank you so much for reading! Goodbye!
