Hideyoshi Nagachika and His Sacrificial Love

This drawing (and the following one of Kacchan) comes complete with a German poem! I translated some of my favorite lines from my previous Hideneki poems and added some new stuff. This was for German III. I wasn't able to finish it in the time I had, but I don't remember what exactly I wanted to do.... Maybe color the sun? Well, either way, I'm still super proud of it -- even more proud than I am of Natsume!!

Btw, SPOILER ALERT!!! for Tokyo Ghoul (:re).

But anyway, here's the poem:

In case you can't read my handwriting (lol), here's a typed version:

Meine Opfernde Liebe

Ich gab dir mein Gesicht,

Mein Lächeln und meine Artikulierung.

Ich bot mein Leben an,

Alle für dich,

dein Leben und deine Fröhlichkeit.

Auch wenn du mich vergaß,

bewache ich noch dich.

Ich bin dein Engel,

und ich werde nicht meine Stelle aufgeben;

Ich liebe dich zu viel.

Du denkst vielleicht nicht,

dass du mich brauchst;

Vielleicht willst du mich bloß nicht,

Aber ich werde hier sein,

die Licht auf dem Mond werfen.

Ich werde immer bei dir sein.

Vielleicht siehst du mich nicht, aber ich bin hier,

Verflochten im jedem Strand deines Lebens.

Ich verseihe dir, für weg von mir gehen.

Aber das bedeut nicht, dass ich dir da lassen werde.

The translation (or at least, what I think I was attempting to communicate... Like I said, I translated parts of these, so unlike the Kacchan poem, this... I'd really have to look at my other, English, Hideneki poems to understand... what I was trying to say. Because I used a frig ton of words and even phrases that I didn't know.... But this is the translation to the best of my ability):

My Sacrificial Love (Umm... if I remember correctly... there was another word for this that I was trying to imply... Okay, yeah, I don't know.)

I gave you my face,

My smile and my articulation.
(Okay, this one was pretty tough for me, partly because I was trying to fit in a lot.
Umm... I'm glad I made sure to look up Lächeln because... apparently that only means smile. I thought it also meant laughter..., but that could've just been because the word reminded me of the word laughter....
As for Artikulierung..., geez, that was so hard. I had so many choices, and I really had difficulty choosing between "words" and "voice," but I decided on Artikulierung, partly because it does literally mean articulation, which is exactly what (I think) I was trying to express.
Part of my difficulty with this was that I really wasn't entirely sure what had been ripped (willingly) from Hide. The symbols (X, O, etc.) that Hide, as Scarecrow, used were rather ambiguous. According to a theory posted online, I take those letters as a particular vowel sound, which means that Hide struggles with pronouncing consonant sounds. I also wasn't entirely sure if Hide could laugh the same, so I had difficulty choosing between smile and laughter. Laughter would imply a smile, but I guess I decided smile in the end because I knew that Hide couldn't smile the same, even if I wasn't sure if he could laugh.)

I offered my life,

All for you,

Your life and your happiness.

And when/if you forgot me, (Okay... this is the literal translation, but... I think I meant "Even though you forgot me.")

I still watch over/guard you. (I think... this is what I was trying to say.)

I am your angel,

and I will not give up my duty; (I remember struggling with this line, too, but again, I don't remember what exactly I wanted to say. Some other translations for Stelle include job, spot, position, and place, and some for aufgeben include quit, abandon, and surrender. I believe "duty" was what I was wanting to say though.)

I love you too much.

Maybe you don't think,

That you need me;

Maybe you don't even want me, (bloß technically means mere(ly), only, etc., but I believe that's what I meant....)

But I will be here,

The light throwing/thrown on the moon. (If I remember correctly, I wanted "shining," or at least something along those lines, but my teacher insisted that the word would be werfen, to throw. I guess it's a figure of speech or something. *shakes head and sighs* The weird things we say...)

I will always be by you.

Maybe you don't see me, but I am here.

Intertwined/etc. in every strand of your life. (This was another line that I struggled with, but I'm not... entirely sure what I meant to say.... Some of the synonyms for verflochten are integrate, entwine, interweave. I thought... that "strand" was also... I meant something different.... Oh well. I don't remember what I don't remember.)

I forgive you, for going away from me. (I'm... I don't think that's exactly what I meant to say, but... that's the direct translation. Unfortunately, the latter half of this line is full of just small words. I can translate each of them off the top of my head, but together... I'm not entirely sure what I was trying to say. It doesn't sound right, translated literally.... Maybe I meant leaving? I forgive you, for leaving me?)

But that does not mean, that I will leave you. (Okay, so... there's a "da" in this sentence that... I really don't know what it's there for..., but that's the gist of the sentence, I think.)
