二: Summer Holidays 2016

It was summer, and Samantha was about to leave for the airport to go to Canada. She was going to attend the UBC summer music camp in Vancouver. The music camp lasted two weeks, but she was going to stay for one extra week with her cousins.

China had been constantly bothering her if she had gotten all her things ready.

"Are you absolutely sure that you have all your belongings?" the Asian nation demanded for the thousandth time.

Samantha sighed. "Yes, China."

"Are you absolutely sure that I don't need to come with you?! There are many bad people on the street, you don't know what they're going to do to you, aru!"

"There's a bunch of other people going. I'll be safe," she promised the Asian nation, but he didn't give up.

"Have you got your passport? Have you got your ticket? Have you got your lady pad things when you get your period?!"

"China!" she yelled, her face now red with embarrassment.

"I'm sorry aru, I'm just looking out for you." When the atmosphere became silent, Samantha glanced at China. Seeing that his eyes were downcast and he had a disappointed look on his face, she gave him a hug.

"I'm going to be okay. Just stay happy and spend time with Hong Kong, okay?"

"Okay. But we're taking you to the airport. And we're Skype calling you every night," he declared.

"If you say so."

The car ride there was quite quiet. China sat in the front of the taxi with the driver, while Hong Kong, Panda, and Samantha sat in the back. China had stated that they weren't old enough to sit in the front.

Samantha petted Panda's fur subconsciously while looking out the window.

"You know we will miss you right?" Hong Kong said suddenly. It seemed more of a statement than a question. She nodded.

It only seemed like a few minutes had passed before the taxi pulled up at the airport. They unloaded her luggage and went to the meeting spot.

"We are here," Hong Kong stated.

"I heard that there is this country named Canada, aru. He is very quiet and seems to be quite nice," China said. "Maybe you'll meet him."

They waited with Samantha until the others arrived.

"It's time for you to go," Hong Kong said. Her eyes darted to the ground. The two Asian nations embraced her in a hug, but Samantha couldn't help but feel sad. It wasn't like she was going to stay away from them forever...right?

2 Weeks Later...

Samantha arrived at her cousin's house in the car that her aunt drove her in. Just as soon as she settled on the bed of the guest room, her phone rang, and it was none other than China and Hong Kong. She smiled, pressing the button and holding the phone in front of her.

"Hello Samantha!" China exclaimed.

"Hello, China. Hello, Hong Kong," she greeted. But before she could even start to tell them about her day, her older cousin interrupted her.

"Hey, Sam. Is it alright if I have a friend over?"

"Yeah, sure," she answered.

"Thanks! Hey Matthew you can come over!" he said into his phone.

"Did he just say Matthew, aru?" China muttered.

"Yes, why?"

"You'll find out soon enough, aru."

They chatted for quite a while, until suddenly, the doorbell rang. Samantha ran down the stairs to open the door. In the doorway stood a tall teenage boy with long blonde hair up to his jaw with a strange curl on the right side of his head. He had purple eyes. The teen wore thin rectangular glasses and a red and white hoodie with a red maple leaf in the middle. He held a small white bear in his arms that was about the size of Panda.

His bear looked up at him. She did too.

"Who are you?" The bear and Samantha said simultaneously. They looked at each other weirdly. The boy smiled warmly at her.

"I'm Canada!" he said a very quiet, mellow voice.

"Yep, that's him, aru!" China yelled through the phone.
