一: A Day in the Life of Samantha

Samantha sat cross-legged on her bed as she scrolled through Instagram. Her eyes were glued to the screen of her phone.

"You know using your phone too much will damage your eyes, right?" A quiet voice beside her piped up. The voice had an obvious Cantonese accent.

The girl tensed up, her eyes flickering over to the source of the voice. A young boy with choppy dark brown hair was sitting a few inches away from her, his gaze unwavering.

Samantha sighed, putting the device down. "You shouldn't sneak up on me like that, Hong Kong."

"My apologies," he mumbled.

"Are you seriously planning to wear that to sleep?" she inquired, nodding her head at his blue panda patterned pyjamas.

Hong Kong nodded, a slightly amused smile appearing for a split second on his face, then disappearing. He nodded at her own pink Winnie the Pooh bedclothes.

Samantha rolled her eyes. "Shush."

"You guys should go to sleep now, aru. It's getting late," China called as he walked past her room with a white cup in his hand. In the cup, there was a toothbrush and a tube of toothpaste.
"Yeah sure, aru. I am going to sleep now, aru. Good night, aru."

"Are you mocking the way I talk?" the Asian nation demanded.

Samantha grinned. "Sorry. I couldn't help it."

China shook his head, heading to the room beside Samantha's. "Good night."

"I should go too. I will wake you up tomorrow morning," Hong Kong said.

"It's going to be hard, though. I'm a heavy sleeper," Samantha replied.

"But I am definitely 100% sure that this method will work."

"If you say so. Good night, Hong Kong."

"Good night."

Samantha turned off the lights and lay on her bed. She closed her eyes, but it didn't seem like a few hours had passed until someone decided to fly onto her bed and wake her up.

"Hm?" she mumbled sleepily.

"My aporogies, Samantha, but Hong Kong decided to kick me out of the bed because I was screaming too loudly when I had scary nightmare, aru," he said. "Can I sleep with you instead?"

"Yah. Sure," Samantha muttered, half-consciously patting the space beside her.

China settled beside her and pulled the blanket over them, but she was fast asleep already.

"Thank you, aru." He smiled.

A loud, ear-splitting crackling noise and a bright flash made Samantha scream and bolt straight up.

"I told you it would work," Hong Kong smirked.

"Waking me up with firecrackers...smart...but that wasn't very nice..." she muttered, planting her face back into the pillow. "Who are you," she wondered, shoving the sleeping form of someone else off the bed.

"Aiya!" China protested. "You don't wake people up by pushing them off bed, aru! That's rude!"

"Sorry."

"I thought in international school camps teachers told students, 'no purpling'," Hong Kong said, "but you are only fourteen. And you are only in 9th grade."

"Well I'm not in school right now, am I?"

"I'm going to make breakfast, aru."

Hong Kong showed her his camera with a picture of her and China sleeping together with his panda. She blushed and looked away, pouting.

"It is pretty cute. May I keep it?"

"H-Hey! Delete that...now!" she growled, stumbling out of bed and chasing Hong Kong around.

"No," he replied simply, looking seemingly smug. Unfortunately, Samantha noticed this, narrowing her eyes at the Asian.

"Wipe that smile off your face or I'll do it for you."
