Don't worry, though, Harry suffers too once he realizes that—surprise, surprise—he felt something for Draco too. Oh, and Ron and Hermione are awesome in this fic. Most impressive is just how much story the author was able to fit in so few words. After writing this commentary I thought I'd look at the word count and see something around 40k. Somehow it isn't rushed at all, either. I checked. And now I'm gonna reread it because it's short and, yeah, it's that good.

Draco's still so torn up about what happened, even though writing the book was healing for him, because he's still in love with Harry. And Harry has so many regrets, so many could-have-beens that they would fill pages. The ending is really wonderfully sweet, and the friendships and side relationships are awesome. Rare-paring Neville/Millicent makes an appearance here, and it's surprisingly delightful.

It's not really a fic about falling in love, it's a fic about learning how to be okay with each other, and about enjoying your life and realizing you can want more from a person than a shag. It's classic "you drive me mad, but I'm starting to think I like that." If you didn't read the tags, Draco does get pregnant. It's accidental and it's an inconvenience that drives the plot forward. I've read very few mpreg fics but this one barely even feels like an mpreg. It's not sexualized and it's not this huge, world-ending sob fest inducer either, it's just a tiny bit of the story. The fic ends not long after he finds out, timeline-wise.

Commentary: This story's a super fun read if you want to cry your fucking eyes out! (That was my original note when I first bookmarked it, btw). Draco has gone undercover as a spy for the order, but he doesn't want Harry to know, because he knows he'd stop him if he did. When Harry gets taken captive at Malfoy Manor, Draco has to save him, but at this point, he's given Harry plenty of reason to believe he really was a bad guy all along. The story has a good ending but a lot of angst getting there. And there are definitely some non-canon-compliant elements, but makes up for it with a really well-done plot.
Warnings: Dub-con (bordering on full non-con) and graphic depictions of violence. The sexual content we see on screen is after Harry and Draco have ended things, and Draco has been ordered by Voldemort to force himself on Harry. Harry agrees (Draco asks him what he wants him to do) because at least Draco is better than some of the other death eaters, but it is not a sweet moment at all. Neither of them wants it or enjoys it. Other relevant warnings: torture, minor character death (including children), and infidelity.

Commentary: This fic belongs near the top of every single rec list I make, and it earns the spot of favorite on this particular one. It's a snitch, easily. It's just so, so good. And this is one of the few fics on this list that isn't established-relationship. I like watching relationships develop initially way better than seeing the aftermath, by the way, so I'm a big fan of that. Get ready to feel every single feeling, and to fall in love with the way Harry and Draco are portrayed. The side characters, too, are amazing. Ron is great especially. In the beginning, Harry is investigating Draco because he thinks he might be the one responsible for all of his partners dying, then they start to fall for each other and things get complicated. But in a really good, almost comfortable way. You want the complication as much as you want the sweet, calm, little mundane moments sprinkled throughout it.

That would take you to my author's page. You could either scroll down and look for the fic you want under the header Recent Works, or you could click on the sub-header Harry Potter - J.K. Rowling under the header Fandoms.

Then, you could either scroll through all of my works looking for what you want, or you could click on the button near the top right of the screen that says "Filters."

If you do that, you will see a menu appear with lots of options for filtering. Right near the bottom of that menu is a section labelled, "Search within results." Scroll down if you don't see it.

Click on the empty box below Search within results and type in the title of the fic you're looking for, or even just one word of the title. For example: "Wonderful Wheezes". Separate Example: "Capitals". For the second example, I chose one of the more distinctive words of the title I was looking for, because I didn't want to type the whole thing.

Then you will get some results, probably just one. Click on the title of the fic you were looking for, and then click, "Proceed," and scroll down to read.
