Commentary: (Recced in a previous chapter). ahhhhhh I love this fic! Harry is strong-armed into returning to Hogwarts to teach by one Professor Minerva McGonagall, only to learn once he's arrived that Draco Malfoy works there too! Oh no. (Obviously, Draco is the librarian in this, having taken over for Madame Pince).
The curse portion is a little bit of a mystery. Hogwarts is still having trouble holding into a Defence Against the Dark Arts Professor, and McGonagall needs Harry to figure out why, because she can't keep losing professors.
But, see, the mystery is hardly the most important part (in my decidedly non-objective opinion), the most important part is that Neville is in this fic, and he works in the greenhouses, and he's friends with Draco, and I love him. Pansy, too, is in stunning form as a new mom, though not present nearly enough, and Ron and Hermione are doing their best, despite being so done with Harry's Harryness.

Author Summary: Harry is going to be the new Hogwarts Defence Against the Dark Arts professor. He needed a change from the way his life had been going. Unfortunately, he finds out Draco Malfoy is also going to be starting as a Hogwarts professor. Their rivalry is, of course, not budging. But since they're teachers now, they're not allowed to fight (well, they tried, but going against Minerva McGonagall's wishes is never advised). They both become fixated on proving they're the best teacher: who's most popular with the students, who has the best teaching methods, who gets the most compliments and gifts before breaks. Everything. As a result they are always lurking around each other's classes, eager to brag that they've got a one-up.
Their students start to get a slightly different impression about their relationship than Harry and Draco have.

Commentary: ohhhkay so I totally forgot before now that this one has a secret relationship aspect near the end! (It's not secret-secret, but they decide not to behave any differently in front of students and mostly tell close friends).
Lucky you guys, my faulty memory means this fic is a new rec on this list instead of a repeat!
Now, not only is the competition aspect fun here (hence the title), but the development of Harry and Draco's relationship is just so sweet, especially Harry trying to articulate his feelings (which he does in a very Harry-ish way) when he wants Neville's advice. Because oh, yeah, Neville is also a Professor in this, and he's just as supportive as the students are, which is to say very. This fic remains one of my Wattpad favs. It can be found most easily by clicking on the author's name up above and scrolling through fics on their profile.

Commentary: this is unique from many other Professor stories because Harry and Draco are both just nineteen when they start teaching. Meaning that they immediately brawl in the corridors.
Also, Harry has started to teach by choice and Draco under orders from the ministry, so their attitudes toward it are quite different. You're not getting reserved, apologetic Draco here at all. He's pissed. He hates his students, he hates his job, and his only almost-soft-spot is for McGonagall, because she's actually willing to listen to him.
Then, of course, she has to go and assign them double living quarters together so they'll get along, and force them to coach duelling club as a team. I'm sure you see with this is going.

Let me start off by saying that both Harry and Draco have grown up a lot. They're willing to try to get along right from the beginning. Here's a quick excerpt: "I have a proposition for you, Malfoy," he said, then felt his cheeks heat when one of Malfoy's brows arched in a sly motion, his head cocking slightly.
"Not that kind of proposition," he mumbled. Malfoy's eyes moved from Harry's head to his toes and back up again.
"Pity," he said dryly. He braced his hand on his narrow hips, holding back the sides of his black robes. "So, tell me this proposition of yours."
"Okay, as long as you don't mock me."
Malfoy's replying expression was amused. "I'll endeavour to reserve my mockery."
"Git. So, here's my idea," Harry said. "I won't be an arse to you, if you can keep from being one to me. If we're both going to work here, it makes no sense to try to make each other miserable. And if you're the new Potions Master, we're going to have to work together."
It's always kind of relieving when they don't waste time with petty fights in the beginning.
Featuring: far too many students having crushes on Professor Malfoy (for Draco's taste), far too much encouragement from McGonagall for Professor Malfoy and Healer Potter to date (for Harry's taste), and far too many accidents with potions (for both their tastes).

Commentary: if I could rec this one, like, 100 times, I would. It only misses out on the top spot on this list because it's so short. I want to marry this fic more than Draco wants to marry Neville (more info on that in a sec).
Harry's called things off with Ginny and he's not really sure he knows what love is. He is sure he's overwhelmed by how many students are transferring to Hogwarts for the sole purpose of being taught by him. And so it's when he's busy running away from those students that he finds himself hiding out with Draco. Draco who is surprisingly witty, and beloved by his students, and has an amazing friendship with Neville.
I had so much trouble picking an excerpt because it's all so good and one of the funniest fics I've ever read that isn't just comedic. Neville and Draco are absolutely perfect.
Excerpt: Sighing deeply again, Malfoy turned toward Harry and explained, "I was accosted my first week back here by a Professor that has since been let go of, and Neville here came to defend my honor, in what was very obviously his first attempt at staking a claim on me -"
"It wasn't," Neville chuckled.
" - and then he offered to help with my potions, bringing me specialty herbs weekly, which was obviously a ploy to get me into bed -"
"It wasn't!" Neville laughed again, seeming genuinely delighted by Malfoy's flat sense of humor.
"And unlike you, Potter, he dared to take a seat with me at meals, and made quite the gesture at friendship, where he is now leaving me stranded. Now, I can only long from afar, as Lovegood has clearly put her family name to use, and secured a future with him."

Commentary: (Recced in a previous chapter but I've changed my commentary). Okay, I'm such a big fan of this fic. Not only is it very well-written, but the characters are great. Albus and Scorpius are especially fun and Teddy, too, is in top form. But, most importantly, the OC students are hilarious and wonderful, scheming little menaces. That's all I'll say so I don't spoil anything, and because the Summary is pretty in-depth.

Commentary: I originally forgot this one under animal companions (it has now been added)! Draco has a lovely pet beetle that was accidentally enlarged by a student and so has become his pet. His name is Stanley.
Now let's talk about the plot. Draco and Harry got into a mini prank-war, and it's landed Harry in the hospital wing, unconscious for an indeterminable amount of time. Professor Malfoy begins helping out with all of Harry's duties (he was flying instructor at Hogwarts, coach of Gryffindor's quidditch team, first-to-fifth-year Duelling Club leader, maintainer of school brooms and Quidditch equipment, house-elf relations representative, and Head of Gryffindor House). Try saying that five times fast.
And one of the best treatments that Madam Pomfrey prescribes until Harry is better is for people to speak to him, so Draco does.
He talks him through his days, teaching classes, finally softening up with the students and other professors, all the struggles he has with Quidditch and getting to know Hagrid, and it's wonderful. Draco is falling for Harry without him even being awake to talk back.
Excerpt: "Well, Potter, here we are," he says at last, resting his chin on his knees and gazing at the unnaturally still figure through half-closed eyes. "It's Wednesday the twenty-sixth of September, in case that's of any interest to you. It's about eleven o'clock at night. There's no one here but you and me, and that's a first, because we're not arguing."
Draco sighs, breath warm against the soft flannel of his pyjama-clad knee. The silence is unnerving, so he whispers, "Shut up, Malfoy' and immediately feels better.
"I'm only saying this because you can't say anything back, but... you know what, Potter? I don't know how you do it. I really don't. The Gryffindors are needy and neurotic and bizarre, none of the first-years like me, the students from the Duelling Club would have preferred it if I'd not turned up and the house-elves apparently think I tried to murder you and refuse to speak to me at all." Draco glares ineffectually at Potter, who looks so serene with the moonlight spilling over his face that Draco wants to start flinging potion bottles in every direction.

It goes from there.
Time in France has changed Draco, a lot, but Harry isn't the same person he was either. They bond over their sexualities a bit, but over other things too. Like most momatu fics, the international component is really fun and interesting. I can't vouch for the accuracy, never having been to France, but it's a great and very detailed read.

This one's got vampires, flirting in nightclubs, past not-relationship (when I say this, I mean ~something~ gay happened between them—like a kiss—but not a full dating thing), and they're really working together to solve the case, which is quite a bit more pressing than the case in Dead Man's Curse.

Commentary: (Recced in a previous chapter). I love Draco and Charlie's friendship in this one. It's not something you get to see often enough. And the pining is exquisite. Draco, especially, is head over heels for Harry right from the start. Oh, and Hogwarts is semi-sentient (god, I love this trope!). Plus, Harry's snake (Pork Chop) is hilarious.
Excerpt: "So much sexual tension," Pork Chop remarks, uncurling. She moves towards Harry, but freezes, as if she just remembered their argument. Sullenly, she swirls her way back to her basket and turns to face the wall.
"Porks." Harry sighs. "C'mon, Porks. Don't be like this. You know I hate it when we fight."
