Harry's parents lived and they were Tom Riddle and Bellatrix Riddle. Dumbledore took him away from his parents because he said they aren't even worthy to have a son. So he took Harry away from his parents and gave him to the Potter family and they adopted him and named him Harry James Potter. Then Tom found where they were living after the Potters switched secret keeper to Peter Pettigrew after the real one was Sirius Black. After he got into the house he killed James and Lily Potter and took back his son. Tom changed Harry's name to Harold Salazar Tom Riddle after Tom renamed him he but a lightning bolt scar on his forehead so Harold can communicate with his father.
