Chapter One

EVA CROW waited outside of the school, watching the students walk home with friends or their parents. The bluenette tapped her foot impatiently on the concrete. 'Where is he?' Eva thought, looking at her watch.

"Eva?"

The teen turned to see her old teacher, Ms. Blanchard. "Hi Ms. Blanchard, how was your day?" Eva asked the woman, smiling at her. "It was wonderful. How about you, don't you usually go to the park when Henry's sick?" Ms. Blanchard asked her, curious about her presence at the school.

Eva looked at the woman she admired, baffled at her question. "What are you talking about, I walked Henry to the bus stop this morning before my shift at Town Hall" Eva told her, her stomach-turning. Ms. Blanchard took a step back, realization taking over.

Eva quickly took out her phone, dialling an oh so familiar number. "Hey, bestie!" Eva squeaked nervously over her phone. "Eva? What have you done this time?" Sheriff Graham groaned, hearing Eva's guilty voice.

"Henry's missing and I know Regina is going to kill me" Eva rambled slightly, biting her nails. "Okay, look around town, I'll inform Madame Mayor" Graham advised the teen before walking out of the station.

Eva hung up and tried to think for a moment. 'Regina is going to murder me!' Eva thought, her thoughts spiralling out of control. Ms. Blanchard put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Eva, I'll look here, you go to the castle" Ms. Blanchard said.

The teen nodded before she left the school, set on finding Henry and kill him for doing this to her.

Eva sat in Regina's living room, biting what was left of her nails. Graham was trying to calm Regina down. Eva kept ringing places Henry would go like the arcade, Granny's hell, even the grocery store.

She was terrified at what Regina would do to her if Henry didn't come home, or if he was hurt. "I'm not mad at Eva" Regina spoke from behind her, handing the girl a glass of water. Eva thanked her, looking away from the mayor. "I know you would never let Henry get hurt. He...admires you, as much as it might pain me to say" Regina comforted the teen.

Eva had been looking after Henry since she was his age, it was hard being the town genius and with her...past Henry became a light in her life. "I'm so sorry Regina, I should have walked just that bit more and maybe he wouldn't have left" Eva sobbed softly.

Regina pulled the young girl into a hug, rubbing her arms softly. "None of this is your fault Eva" Regina reassured her. A knock on the door caught the attention of the woman and the sheriff.

Regina was the first to run to the door, hoping it would be Henry. Regina opened the door, running out. Eva felt a weight lift off her shoulders as Henry ran into her arms. "Auntie Eva!" Henry called, hugging the teen tightly.

"Okay, just this once kid" Eva muttered, hugging him back just as tight. "Don't you ever run away like that again, you understand me kid" Eva warned him, his head in her hands. "I promise Eva, look I found her" Henry beamed, pointing to the woman who brought him home.

"Found who?" Regina asked her son. "I found my real mom!" Henry told them, smiling brightly. Eva looked at the blonde woman in shock. No way... he found his birth mother? "Henry" Regina frowned, trying to hug her son.

Henry yanked his arm away from her, storming upstairs. Eva looked at the blonde, lost for words. There was something familiar about the older woman, something that Eva couldn't explain well. It was like the feeling she had when she first met Henry but different somehow.

"I'll go check on Henry" Eva smiled, running up the stairs.

Henry was smiling down at his storybook when Eva closed the door. "Told you, Eva. She does look a lot like you" Henry beamed at the teen. Eva took a deep breath as she sat at the edge of Henry's bed.

"Henry. I know that the curse is... complicated but seriously? You expect me to believe that the woman downstairs is my sister?" Eva sighed, pulling Henry in for a hug. "Twin sister actually" Henry corrected her.

"See my point. Look magic is magic but you really think I'm twins with a grown woman" Eva argued gently with the ten-year-old. "Trust me okay. I know I'm right" Henry smiled at Eva before yawning.

"Okay, time for bed little runaway" Eva announced, yawning herself. The teen pulled back the bed covers and tucked Henry in tight. "Night Henry" Eva smiled, kissing his head. "Night Auntie Eva" Henry yawned before closing his eyes.

Eva walked downstairs, rubbing her eyes. She was exhausted from today. "Besides being tired from his adventure, Henry is fine Regina" Eva reassured the mayor who was having a drink of apple cider with Henry's birth mother.

The blonde woman smiled at her nicely. "You seem young to be an aunt" the woman questioned the teen. Eva nearly fell to the floor, Regina laughing softly. "No I'm not Henry's aunt, he just calls me that sometimes. I've been his sitter since I was his age" Eva explained to the woman.

She nodded, before looking back to her glass. "Regina. Could I use the landline for a minute?" Eva asked, playing with her fingers. "Of course, you can" Regina told her.

"It's not too late, is it Archie?" Eva asked over the phone. "Thanks" Eva smiled before hanging up. "I'm heading out Regina!" Eva called, grabbing her purple leather jacket. Regina nodded, seeing Henry's birth mother out the door as well. "Take this with you to Granny's Eva" Regina handed the teen an envelope.

Eva nodded and smiled before leaving the house with the blonde. "I'm Emma, Emma Swan" The blonde placed her hand out to shake. Eva placed her hand in hers. "Eva, Eva Crow" The pair shook hands before Eva went her own way.

"Eva! Wanna lift?" Emma asked the blue-haired teen.

28 years ago...today

Snow White screamed, the urge to push her babies outgrowing stronger every moment. Charming soothed his wife the best he could, praying the wardrobe would be finished in time. "I can't have the babies now!" Snow White screamed.

"Doc, do something. It's going to be okay. The wardrobe is almost finished, just hold on" Charming spoke to his wife. Geppetto enters the room with a proud look on his face. "It's ready" He told the couple. Charming went to move Snow before Doc stopped him. "It's too late. We can't move her" He told them.

Baby Emma is the first of the twins to be born. Then baby Eva came quickly after. Snow White held both daughters, while Charming looked upon his girls. "The wardrobe... It only takes two" Snow realized, horror on her face. "Then our plan has failed. At least we're together" Charming spoke on the bright side.

"No. You have to take them. Take the girls to the wardrobe, make sure Emma goes in first" Snow told her husband, handing him Emma. " Are you out of your mind?" Charming asked Snow White. "No, it's the only way. You have to save them" Snow told her husband.

"No, no, no. You don't know what you're saying" Charming argued with Snow. "No, I do. We have to believe that they'll come back for us. We have to give them their best chance" Snow sobbed gently, kissing her daughters foreheads. Charming did the same, tears streaming down his eyes. As Charming left with the twins' Snow White whispered "Goodbye, Emma...Goodbye, Eva"

Our World

Present Day

Eva closed her small locker, grabbing her gym bag. Her hair was tied in a ballerina bun as she left the dance studio. "EVA!" Regina's voice boomed from around the corner from the exit.

"Regina, I told you I don't babysit on Wednesdays" Eva reminded the mayor in a very worn-out tone. She noticed Emma trailing behind the dark-haired woman looking how she felt at this moment. "Henry's missing actually" Regina snapped at her.

Eva took a step back, shocked at Regina's tone. "Well, I haven't seen him since last night. Let me get changed and I'll help look" Eva told the mayor before she stormed out of the locker room. Emma gave Eva a sympathetic look. "Is she always like this?" Emma asked her.

Eva only shrugged, picking up the gym bag she dropped. "Didn't think you much of a ballerina kid" Emma commented, seeing Eva's attire. "I only do it so the nuns will bug off"

"Let me get this straight, you live in a nunnery and graduated school four years ago!" Emma gasped as the girls drove to the location of Henry's castle. Eva had changed into a purple top and her leather jacket with a black strapped skirt and ripped leggings. Her hair was still in a bun as she munched on the pack of chips Emma gave her.

"Pretty much, the nuns are cool though. Just hate church is all" Eva told the blonde. Emma snickered at the comment, turning towards the beach. "Yikes, how come no one is fostering you? Criminal record?" Emma asked, a feeling of concern for the younger girl. "After my last one, no one wanted to foster me. I don't talk about it much" Eva answered, looking away from Emma. "That why you see the shrink too?" Emma asked, causing Eva to gasp. "How?" She asked, looking back at the blonde.

"I heard you over the phone. I won't pry, promise" Emma held her arms in defence as she left the car. Eva nodded, kinda shocked that Emma was so easygoing that she had issues. "Hey kiddo" Eva smiled at Henry, jumping up beside him.

He kicked the air, grumbling a hello to her. Eva looked back in shock, he never did that to her before. "You left this in my car" Emma huffed, handing Henry the storybook. He just rubbed the cover, not even opening it up to his favourite page. He looks up to the clock tower, sighing at the time.

Eva looked at the clock tower, that old thing hasn't moved since she could remember that goes back to when she was two. "Still hasn't moved, huh?" Emma asked him, trying to make conversation. "I was hoping that when I brought you back, things would change here. That the final battle would begin" Henry spoke, looking between Emma and Eva. " I'm not fighting any battles, kid" Emma told him.

"Sorry but beating up bullies are behind me kiddo" Eva added, making Henry smile a little bit. "Yes, you are. Because it's your destiny. You two are going to bring back the happy endings" Henry huffed, trying to make Emma and Eva truly believe as he did. "Can you cut it with the book crap?" Emma asked, the whole concept getting old.

"You don't have to be hostile. I know you like us – I can tell. You're just pushing the two of us away because I make you feel guilty. It's okay. I know why you gave me away. You wanted to give me my best chance" Henry raised his eyebrow at his birth mother. "How do you know that?" Emma and Eva asked at the same time.

"Because it's the same reason Snow White gave you guys away" Henry explained to Emma, who was very stubborn at the idea of being a fairytale princess' daughter. "Listen to me, kid. I'm not in any book. I'm a real person. And I'm no saviour. You were right about one thing, though. I wanted you to have your best chance. But it's not with me. Come on, let's go" Emma sighed, just wanting to get Henry home. "Please don't take me back there. Just stay with me for one week. That's all I ask. One week, and you'll see I'm not crazy" Henry begged, trying to get the ten-year-old home.

"I have to get you back to your mom" Emma told him. "You don't know what it's like with her. My life sucks!" Henry exclaimed. Eva stood up and jumped from the old wooden castle. Henry may only be ten but he knew most of what happened to her because no one wanted her. At least Regina wanted Henry to be her son.

Emma must have taken offence because when Eva looked at the blonde, she had a very similar look to how Eva was feeling. "Oh, you want to know what sucking is? Being left abandoned on the side of a freeway. My parents didn't even bother to drop me off at a hospital. I ended up in the foster system and I had a family until I was three, but then they had their own so then they sent me back. Look, your mom is trying her best. I know it's hard and I know sometimes you think she doesn't love you, but at least she wants you" Emma ranted, tears forming in her eyes.

Eva took a step back. Emma was like her, a foster kid. "Emma's right" Eva spoke, gaining their attention. "At least Regina wants you. Look at me, I'm barely getting by and living with the nuns. No one wanted me because I'm broken and a handful so Mother Superior took pity on me. You're lucky that you didn't get abandoned at the side of a freeway or in the middle of the woods. You got what every foster kid wants, a family that wants them" Eva spoke, her voice becoming smaller with every word.

Henry looked at her, his best and first friend. "I'm sorry I said it like that Evs. But your parents didn't leave you on the side of a freeway or in the forest. That's just where you two came through" Henry told them. This was new to Eva, since when did a forest become a uterus? "What?" the two girls asked him. "The wardrobe. When you went through the wardrobe you appeared in the street and Eva appeared in the forest fourteen years later. Your parents were trying to save you from the curse" Henry explained to the twins. "Sure they were. Come on, Henry" Emma gave up as the three walked to the yellow bug.

After Emma dropped Henry home, she decided to drop Eva at the nearest place she could. "You're like me" Eva stated, looking at Emma. The blonde hummed in response, giving Eva a soft smile. "Yep only I ran from the system at fourteen, no one wants a teenager" Emma huffed, dropping her tense shoulders. "I only had one foster home, didn't end well and since then no one wanted me. No one ever wants me" Eva sighed as they drove closer to Granny's.

"Look kid, I'll give you some advice. No one gets what they want in this world. Some are lucky and everything is handed to them on a silver tray but people like us? We fight for what we want and that's how we survive. If you want a family, fight for it, find the perfect guy and show the world that no matter what you can get what you want because nothing's gonna stop you" Emma told her as they stopped outside the diner. Eva smiled at her, reaching for a hug. "Thanks, Emma but you messed one thing up" Eva giggled at her. "What?" Emma asked. "The perfect girl, not guy" Eva told her before running into the diner leaving Emma stunned.

"You go kid"

It was getting late, Eva was per usual on a Wednesday, cleaning up Granny's Bed and Breakfast. Granny and her granddaughter, Ruby were bickering as usual when Ruby wanted to go out for the night. "You're out all night, and now you're going out again" Granny huffed. "I should have moved to Boston" Ruby moaned like a child.

"I'm sorry that my heart attack interfered with your plans to sleep your way down the eastern seaboard" Granny shot back making Ruby gasp in disbelief. But the woman wasn't wrong. Eva looked up to see Emma walking in. "Excuse me? I'd like a room" Emma spoke to Granny, not noticing Eva yet. "Really? Would you like a forest view or a square view? Normally, there's an upgrade fee for the square but, as friends do, I'll wave it" Granny asked excitedly, running to where the keys were.

That's when Emma noticed Eva. The teen waved before quickly hiding away from the front desk. "Square is fine" Emma answered, a bit upset Eva ran away from her. "Now, what's the name?" Granny asked Emma. "Swan. Emma Swan" She answered.

"Emma. What a lovely name" A man says from behind the blonde. Eva hid behind the hallway closest to the man, her breath hitched. "Thanks" Emma obliged, getting a weird vibe from the man. Granny passes Mr. Gold a roll of bills. "It's all here" Granny informed him.

"Yes, yes, of course, it is, dear. By any chance has Ms. Crow stopped by?" He asked the older woman. "No sir, only in the diner to buy leftovers" Granny answered, keeping a straight face. "Thank You. Enjoy your stay...Emma. The man smiled thinly before leaving the inn.

"Who's that?" Emma asked, oddly bothered that he was asking for Eva tone the tone he did. "Mr. Gold. He owns this place. The coast is clear!" Ruby answered and also gave Eva the all-clear. "The inn?" Emma asked again, looking at Granny. "No, the town. So, how long will you be with us?" Granny raised an eyebrow, curious to how much she might profit from this new woman. "A week. Just a week" Emma nodded promptly. "Great" Granny takes a key from the wall and hands it to Emma. "Welcome to Storybrooke" Granny smiled at Emma.

Eva looked out the window, staring at the clock tower. When Emma takes the room key, the clock starts moving. Maybe there is hope for this stupid town after all.
