Thirty Days After

A/N: Hey everyone! Hope you guys liked the first oneshot. As I said, here's another one, and it is the next part/ sequel of the last one. So, I WANT TO ASK SOMETHING VERY IMPORTANT TO YOU ALL IN THE A/N, PLEASE READ IT! (besides the random question). Yes, I actually need to ask something important related to this oneshot (the first one and this), so please read that. On with the chapter!

She sighed. "Okay then. You see, that day was..."

"That day was what?" Ginny asked her.

Hermione summoned her diary towards her, and used a spell on it. "Here. You should probably read what I had written on that day before I tell you what happened. Otherwise, I don't think you would really understand why..."

"But I thought that this diary was locked and no one would be able to open it, except you." Ginny said as she took the diary from her hands.

"I used a spell on it so you can read the first one." Hermione told her. "Only the first one." She added after a moment.

"I can't believe you don't trust me." Ginny shook her head, but nevertheless, opened the diary and started reading it aloud.

Dear Dragon

"Dragon? Seriously? Are you kidding me?" Ginny asked her, but Hermione just told her to continue reading it.

I know that's a weird name-

"More like weirdest name ever." Ginny muttered.

- but I didn't want to address you as 'dear diary' because I find that name to be odd. So, I came up with this idea. I'll address you with the name which will be related to what I have to write each day, so the name will probably keep changing.

Anyways, you would have probably guessed about whom I am writing today by the name, if tou haven't then well, you will know at the end.

"Oohh... A dragon, huh? Let's guess who it is. Hmm... Maybe the hottest, most idiotic, stupidest, best ATTENTION seeker, Slytherin ever? Also known as the Slytherin Prince?" Ginny smirked as Hermione's cheeks turned red. Ginny shook her head and continued reading.

Let me be clear so as you won't get confused with one of my sentences at the end. The first time when I realised that he had changed was when he wished me 'Happy Birthday'. Not only did he he got me a gift, but he also offered to do the rounds by himself so as to let me relax on my birthday. I was confused at first, but then he told me to consider it as a part of his apology for all the things he had done.

"How cute!" Ginny exclaimed as she read it.

The second time was when he stood up for me in front of those still prejudiced Slytherin, and said that even if I was a Muggle born, I was way better at magic than them. Imagine my surprise when he didn't use that foul word.

"I am surprised too." She muttered.

"I don't remember asking for your opinion, you nosy girl." Hermione scowled at her friend.

"Stay away from Malfoy. You are becoming like that idiotic ferret." Ginny muttered but not loud enough for Hermione to hear.

The third time was when I had a fever, and Madam Pomfrey wasn't in Hogwarts at the moment. He took care of me, and didn't sleep for three days. I persuaded him to go to classes, and in return, he took notes for me. He didn't even go down to the Great Hall for eating, he used to bring his food to the Heads' Dormitory, and eat it with me. What do you think about him now?

I don't have much time right now, since I really need to go, and he would be here any minute, so I am going to make this quick. I was never really good with words, so it might be cheesy, but don't mind it.

"Hermione Granger not good with words? I can't believe it." Ginny muttered.

I really don't know how, when, why or where it happened, but one thing is clear to me, I am in love with him. You would've probably guessed who he is by now, but if you haven't, then I'll write his name at the end. I promised Ginny that I would start writing this diary on the day something special happens, and today is the day. I just woke up and realised that I was in love with him.

"It took you that long? And you're supposed to be the Brightest Witch of your Age." Ginny smirked at her.

And, guess what?  Today, is the End of the year Ball, and we are going together. He asked me to be his date yesterday, and I plan on confessing everything to him. Blaise told me that he knew Draco liked me, and I hope that it's true. Not that Draco knows about that, of course.

He is knocking on my door right now. I should probably go. Wish me luck!

Yours Hermione

"20 June 1999... Hmm...this is so sweet. But then, why aren't you two dating right now? You said that you would write this on a special day, and I guess that you wrote this before the Ball." Ginny asked her as she closed the diary.

"Something happened at the Ball." Hermione muttered.

When Ginny raised an eyebrow at her, she began telling her what had happened that day during the Ball.

Flashback

"May I have this dance?"

Hermione looked up to see Draco standing next to her, his hand held out for her to take it. She smiled and nodded, and he helped her up.

As he led her towards the dance floor, a slow song came up. He looked at her, silently asking for her permission, and instead of saying something, she placed her hands around his neck.

He placed his hands around her waist, and started swaying them slowly to the music. He would occasionally twirl her around, and grin as she laughed at that.

The song coming to an end as he stepped a little closer to her. This is the moment. Come on, you can do it, he thought.

You have been preparing about this since a week. Nothing would go wrong, he reminded himself as he reached up to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear.

"Hermione..." He whispered.

"Yes?" She asked as she looked into his eyes. The most beautiful eyes she had ever seen, and she couldn't help but get lost in them again.

"I...I l-love... Ahh, forget it." He said before cupping her cheek and leaning down. He looked into her eyes, the most beautiful ones he had ever seen, and slowly his eyes fluttered close.

He slowly brought his lips to her, and kissed her. But before she could kiss him back, he pulled away.

"I am so sorry, I just..." He started but trailed off as his eyes widened.

Before Hermione could even ask what had happened, he pushed her aside and ran away from there.

Flashback over

"That idiot. What was he even thinking when he did that?" Ginny shook her head.

"Thinking while he did what? Danced with me, kissed me or apologized after that?" Hermione asked her.

"None of those.  What was he thinking when he pushed you and ran away?" Ginny said. "But, tell me one thing. How was the kiss? Was it good? Did you feel those fireworks? Was it romantic?" She asked her after a moment.

"Ginny! Are you serious? You seriously want to know about that? I can't believe you." Hermione shook her head.

Ginny just shrugged in reply. "Anyways, what happened after that? What happened when you found him after that?"

Hermione got up from her place, and went to her cupboard. She took out her wand, and muttered an incantation which was too low for Ginny to hear.

As the lock on it opened, she quickly took a photo album, turned a few pages, and took out a paper from it.

She kept the paper on her bed, and then after she had put the photo album back, she used her wand to lock the cupboard.

"Look at this." She said as she handed the paper to Ginny, who took it with a weird look on her face.

"It's the front page of the Daily Prophet... Of..." She looked at the top for the date, "7th October 1999, Thursday." Hermione just motioned her to read the article.

"DRACO LUCIUS MALFOY IS ENGAGED!"

"What the...?" Ginny gasped as she read the heading. Without waiting for an answer from Hermione, she began reading the article.

"Famous ex death eater Draco Lucius Malfoy was spotted in Muggle London with a girl yesterday. This is the first time he's been seen in England ever since he mysteriously disappeared in June.

The Malfoy heir, 19, was studying at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry after it was repaired with the help of students following the Battle Of Hogwarts. He was the Head Boy in his year, while Hermione Jean Granger, 19, was the Head Girl. There were many doubts among the people when he was announced as the Head Boy, but he cleared all of them with his impressive work, according to the Headmistress, Minerva McGonagall.

He was last spotted on 20 June 1999 in Hogwarts, but nobody knew where he went after that. While we were roaming around Muggle London, we accidentally saw him leaving a restaurant with a girl by his side.

At first, we thought that she was merely his friend, but then we noticed the ring on her left hand, which clearly indicated otherwise.

He was probably on a date with his fiancée, she was laughing at something he said, while he had his arm around her shoulders (see the photo above).

Well, we congratulate the Malfoy heir. There has been no news about hai engagement with the girl from any of his family members, and he has remained secretive about the same.

When we tried to have an interview with him, he immediately apparated to Merlin knows where. And, we haven't seen him since.

We currently don't know anything about the girl, and we think she's not from England... (continued on page 3)

"What the heck is this?" Ginny exclaimed as she threw the paper away. Hermione calmly stood up, and picked up the paper from the floor.

"This is, another reason why I didn't want to see him." Hermione said as she sat back down on her bed.

"B-but... It's just stupid. You don't believe the Daily Prophet, do you Hermione? You know how it is just a bunch of lies, right?" Ginny asked.

"Well, I didn't really have anyone to tell me otherwise, did I? Nobody knew what was the truth. Nobody was there to deny this. Nobody was there to state otherwise. So, of course everyone would think that this is true. Including me." Hermione said.

"And what about Narcissa Malfoy? Didn't you say that you visited her during summer that year? Ginny said.

"That was before this news came out. I went to her, and asked her where her son was, but she said she didn't know anything about that. And, after I saw this article, everytime I visited the Manor, the Malfoys' house elf told me that she wasn't there that time, so I just told her to inform Narcissa that I came to see her. I tried going there for a month, but then I gave up. It's not possible that she wasn't there in her Manor for a month, right? There wasn't any news of her leaving the country either." Hermione informed her.

"That just means one thing." Ginny looked at Hermione. "Narcissa didn't want to meet you."

"Or, Dra- Malfoy didn't want me to know where he was. It's not possible that Narcissa didn't know where her son was, you know she has those connections. I tried searching for him for a month. I contacted every Wizarding country to ask about him, but they said they didn't know anything. It just means that either he hid his identity or told the Ministry to not tell anyone about his whereabouts." Hermione said.

"What else happened?" When Hermione looked up at her in confusion, Ginny added, "You don't expect me to believe that was all that had happened, do you? Tell me everything."

"I don't know what you will think of him after you hear this." Hermione muttered.

"Oh Hermione. The question isn't what I would think of him. The question is whether I would have to add another curse on the list of spells that I will use on him, or not." Ginny smirked at her.

Hermione smiled at her friend, but it faded as she told her what else had happened.

--------

"Don't forget to tell me everything you see there, okay? I want pictures." Ginny said as she hugged her friend.

"Ginny, I am going to catch death eaters there, not to do sightseeing." Hermione told her.

"Whatever. You aren't going to catch death eaters all day. And- wait, you are going to North and South Korea as well, right?" Ginny asked her.

"Yes, why-" Hermione started but was cut off as Ginny accioed a list towards her.

"This is the list of the best Korean Dramas, or kdramas, whatever you want to say. And, you have to watch them. Also, try those Korean traditional dresses, and make Malfoy try them as well. I want to see you both in them." Ginny said as she put the list in her friend's bag.

Before Hermione could say anything, Harry called her towards the apparation point.

"Goodbye, and now go!" Was the last thing she heard before Draco grabbed her arm, and apparated both of them to their destination.

-------

Two weeks later...

"What the heck are you doing?"

Hermione looked up from her laptop see the bouncing ferret leaning at the doorway, twirling his wand in his hands.

"Just watching a kdrama-" She started but was cut off.

"A what?" He asked her.

"Kdrama, or Korean Drama. I am watching this one...I think it's called, 'Boys over Flowers'. It's a classic one, for beginners like me." She answered, her eyes fixed to the laptop screen.

"Ohh... So, have you finished it?" He asked as he sat at the edge of the bed.

"No, I am on episode number twenty -two, there are three more left. I just started watching it yesterday." She told him.

"Yesterday and you've already watched these many episodes? Are you insane?" He shook his head at her.

"Ever heard of the term 'binge watching'? No? Well, I don't care. Let me watch this." She waved her hand at him.

"But I am bored. Stop watching this." He told her.

"Well then, go talk to your fiancée or something. Or is she your wife now?" She asked as she shut down her laptop after that episode finished.

"Fiancée? Wife? What are you talking about? I am single, Granger." He rolled his eyes at her.

"Single? So did you break your engagement with her?" Hermione asked her.

"Are you delusional or something? I am single. S.I.N.G.L.E. I don't even like anyone right now. Who even gave you the idea of my engagement?" Draco asked her.

"Well then, who was that girl with whom you were spotted leaving the restaurant when you were in England for a few hours?" Hermione raised an eyebrow at her.

Draco looked confused for a moment, but nodded when he understood what she was talking about. "Not that it is any of your business, but she isn't my fiancée."

Before Hermione could say anything, he grabbed her hand and pulled her up. "Look, it's our last day in South Korea. We are going back to England in the evening, so let's just roam around."

Without giving her a chance to protest, he apparated them to the Wizarding village of South Korea.

-----------

One week later...

"What are you doing?"

Hermione didn't turn around to look at the person who was standing behind her. She knew that voice.

"Watching the rain, avoiding everyone at the party and... Thinking about these past four weeks."

It was their last day working for the Auror Programme. The Wizengamot had found all the death eaters, that they had captured, guilty and as a result, everyone had wanted to celebrate their success.

Harry had offered them his home for the party. Everyone was celebrating inside, dancing, eating snacks and not caring about the work they had to do tomorrow.

Hermione was feeling suffocated inside. She was the never the person to enjoy these types of parties, the only reason she attended was because Ginny forced her to. So, after an hour, without anyone noticing, except a certain someone, she exited the living room where the party was going on. And here she was, standing on the porch of the house, looking at the rain.

"I am leaving for Australia tomorrow." He stood next to her.

"I know. Harry told me." She was still looking at the rain.

He sighed and turned towards her. "I never really thanked you for saving my life last week. You took the curse for me even when you knew it could have harmed you pretty badly. So, thank you."

"You don't have to thank me. You were my partner, I had to do that. Besides, I don't think the Australian Ministry would like it if they lost their best Auror." She said.

"I know you want answers to why I did all of that during the Ball. I know you won't forgive me but, you deserve the answers and it's the least I can do after you saved me. Just, don't interrupt me. You can say whatever you want when I finish." He told her.

She turned towards him, her arms crossed in front of her.

She listened carefully as he told her everything, from why he did that at the Ball to who was that girl with him. From why he went to Australia to finally admitting that it was him who brought her parents back.

He had abruptly left the office when she had told him that she knew it was him. And, here he was now, admitting the truth.

He waited for her reaction after he finished. "You shouldn't have done that. You could've just talked to me, you know." She told him.

"I know, and believe me, I regret it. But, you don't know how dangerous it was. I was scared, and being the stupid idiot person I am, I wanted to find the solution myself, instead of talking to you about that." He said.

"What's done is done. You are going back tomorrow to Australia while I will work here. And, I should probably say thank you for bringing my parents back." She said.

Before he could answer, they heard a very familiar song playing inside the house. Harry had charmed the speakers and so they could hear it clearly.

"I know I made a lot of promises, and I broke most of them. But I don't want to break the promise I made you during the winter holidays. Do you remember this song, and... my promise?" He asked her.

"It's the very song that I made you listen to during out last year. We were dancing on it in our common room when you promised me that whenever we would be together in the future, and this song would be playing, we will dance to it just like how we did that time. It wouldn't matter where we would be, or even if we wouldn't be on friendly terms, we would dance together." Hermione told him.

"May I have this dance?" He held out his hand to her, but she hesitated. "Hermione please. You always told me that you wanted to dance on this song in the rain. Please. I am going back tomorrow." He requested her.

Slowly, she nodded and placed her hand in his. He led them away from the porch, and into the pouring rain.

He put his hands on her waist, while she placed her hands around his neck, and they began dancing to the song.

Their song.

After a few minutes, as the song was coming to an end, he stepped closer to her and smiled as they sang together.

As long as you love me

we could be starving, we could be homeless, we could be broke

As long as you love me
I'll be your platinum, I'll be your silver, I'll be your gold

As long as you love, love me,
As long as you love, love me
As long as you love me
I'll be your silver, I'll be your gold
Love me,

As long as you love, love me,

Hermione looked into his eyes as she sang the lyrics, their meaning clearer to her now than ever before.

Please don't go (love me, love me)
Please don't go (love me, love me)
As long as you love, (love me, love me)
As long as you love, (love me, love me)
As long as you love me

Draco cupped her cheek with his hand, the other resting on her waist. Despite the fact that her hair was sticking to her face, she was still the most beautiful woman for him, and will always be.

Hermione slowly leaned up. She knew it wasn't right, but in that moment, she didn't care about that.

"As long as you love me..." Draco muttered before leaning down, and gently kissing her.

Their lips moved in sync as they didn't pay any attention to their surroundings. Their hearts were pounding in their chests, while their brain told them to pull away this instant, but they didn't pay any attention to that.

Anyone who would see them would just think that they were two lovers kissing under the rain. But, only those two knew what they were really feeling at that movement.

Draco slowly pulled away from her. He looked into her eyes, and wanted to say so many things, but he couldn't bring himself to do that. It didn't matter anyway, he was leaving tomorrow.

"I am sorry." Was all he said before running back inside the house.

When Hermione went back inside, she found out that he had already left the party saying that he was really tired.

He had ran away. Again.

------------

"You won't go to him? Even after reading these letters."

Hermione looked up to see Ginny scowling at her. She sighed and placed the letters, that had arrived an hour ago, aside.

"I wouldn't have been able to read, or even know, about these letters if it wasn't for Narcissa to send them to me." Hermione told her.

"You know why he didn't send them, he has mentioned the reason in the letters. He probably doesn't even know that Narcissa knew about these, and had sent them to you." Ginny sat down next to her on the bed.

"Just go to him, Hermione. Harry told me that Malfoy will leave England in about an hour. Go and stop him. What's stopping you?" Ginny asked.

"I am afraid, Gin. I am afraid that I will fall for him. Again." Hermione whispered.

"What's wrong in that? He explained everything to you, and apologized. Yes, I still don't like him and he will receives my hexes, but what about you? I can see that you have forgiven him, and if not, then you will eventually forgive him." She said.

"Because it's a mistake. It has always been a mistake. I shouldn't have fallen for him in the first place." Hermione shook her head.

"Oh Hermione." Ginny smiled at her. "You don't fall in love in one day. It takes time. Mistakes don't take time, they just happen. And love? It doesn't just happen."

She continued, "Hermione, just think why were you given those thirty days with him? It may have been a plan, but it certainly changed your opinion of him, didn't it? Go to him, Hermione."

She slowly stood up and took her wand. "I am doing the correct thing, right?" Hermione asked her.

Ginny nodded and smiled as her friend dissapparated.

"You didn't fall in love with him again, Hermione, because you never stopped loving him in the first place." Ginny smirked.

---------

"But why would you do that, Mother? Why would you send those letters to her?" Draco exclaimed.

"Quiet down, Draco. I did the right thing. Don't tell me that you don't love her, because I know you do." Narcissa told him.

"But-"

"Besides, you weren't going to send those letters, so I thought I might help you. And, you should thank me for that." She stood up.

Draco just scowled at her.

"Anyways, you should probably replace that scowl with a smile. She just arrived, and I don't want her to run away by just seeing your expression." Narcissa smiled at her son, and walked away to greet Hermione.

"As sweet as ever, especially to me." Draco muttered.

Meanwhile...

"Hermione! It's so nice to see you." Narcissa smiled as she hugged her. "I am so sorry I neither told you about Draco nor meet you after that news came out. Draco pleaded me and, I had to agree, it would have been really dangerous for you if they had seen you with him. Believe me, I scolded him so much for doing that to you, but-"

"Narcissa, it's okay. Draco told me everything, and I don't blame you, or him for that matter. And, thank you for sending those letters to me." Hermione told her.

Narcissa smiled at her. "I hope you will do the right thing, Hermione. I'll see you both at dinner, which, of course you will have here, I am not going to let you say otherwise."

Hermione nodded and went into Draco's room. Little did she know, instead of leaving, Narcissa stayed just outside the room, and used the extendable ears as soon as Hermione closed the doors.

---------

"You've marked that date too?"

Draco didn't turn around to face her. He knew it was her the moment she had entered his room. "I marked it as soon as I bought this calendar. 20 June 2000... I made a promise to myself, to finally move on from you, and I gave myself a year since that day for fulfilling that."

"I marked that date too, and for the exact same reason. Did you fulfill the promise?" Hermione asked him.

He turned around to face her. "No, just like so many promises that I have broken, I broke this one too."

She nodded. "And... Those things that you wrote in the letters, are those t-true? Do you still mean them?"

He walked forwards until he was standing directly in front of her. "Of course I mean them. I wrote them while I was in Australia. I wrote letters on every month, and even thought about sending them to you on your birthday but, I never found the courage to."

"Even now, if my mother hadn't sent them to you, I don't think you would be here, or would have ever read those. It wouldn't be fair if I sent them to you when you are so happy in your life just because I am not." He finished.

"Well, you are completely mental if you think I am so happy in my life. I missed you, Draco, every single day. I wrote letters to you, searched for you for a whole month and asked your every friend about you, but I never received any answer. I thought that even if you came back one day, I won't forgive you. But...these last thirty days, they were so hard for me." Hermione said.

He nodded and looked down at his feet. "I know. And that's why I am going back to Australia as soon as possible. Although I believe I should apologise for last night, I shouldn't have k-kissed you."

"You don't understand, do you? If I didn't feel anything for you, if I regretted those thirty days, or regretted kissing you, would I be here right now? But that doesn't matter now, you are going back to Australia." Hermione narrowed her eyes at him.

His head snapped up to look at her. "Really? You still feel something for me? Tell me, Hermione. Please."

When she didn't answer, he continued, "Just one word can change our lives, Hermione. Just say that word, and I would never leave you again. I will stay here with you, I promise, and I wouldn't break this promise. Ever. J-just tell me one thing. Do you still l-love me?"

He feared that she would say no when she hesitated. He had almost made up his mind to walk away from there, when she said, "I will always love you."

A huge grin broke out on his face as she smiled at him. "What about you?" She asked him.

"I never stopped loving you." He said.

And with that, Draco Malfoy kissed Hermione Granger for the third time in his life.

But for the first time, he didn't run away.

A/N: That's it for this oneshot. It was 4700+ words long. Hope you guys liked it. I didn't want it to be this long, but that didn't happen. Also, I don't know if Wizarding communities exist in other parts of the world as well, but they exist in the oneshot. Also, the lyrics mentioned in this chapter (I didn't write the whole lyrics, just the ending of the song) are of the song 'As Long As You Love Me' by Justin Bieber and Big Sean. That song is so beautiful! Random question: Which year Draco was the most annoying one for you? Answer in the comments below. Vote, comment and please share my story. Thank you!

IMPORTANT QUESTION: I am wondering if I should make a full length Dramione fanfic based on this and the previous oneshot. Please tell me here if I should.

Reason: As you can see, everything wasn't revealed in this oneshot, like who was that girl, or why Draco did that. And that's because of the idea of a fanfic. It will also probably be more elaborate than this one, as I didn't really include much of what happened during this thirty days, and may have some flashback scenes as well so it will be clearer. And also have a better ending/epilogue than this one.

Happiest 40th birthday to Draco Malfoy!! The bouncing ferret, or the Boy Who Had No Choice and many more names. You'll always be one of my most favourite characters.

Next chapter on 8/6/20 (Monday).

Until next time.
