Promise (2)
A/N: Hey everyone! Hope you guys liked the last oneshot. This is the second part of the previous oneshot. And no, I don't hate Ron, I just dislike him a bit. I just don't like the ship Romione. I had never planned to make this second part, but then I got the idea, so I decided to write it. Just consider this as a short story in this book. Read the A/N at the end to find out when the next chapter will be out. On with the chapter!
"Good morning, Draco. Where's- Oh."
Narcissa froze as soon as she entered her son's room. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. How in Salazar's name did that happen?
Draco Malfoy, the person who had never sat on a floor and refused to do it anytime, was sitting on the floor, his head rested on the bed while some other person slept on his bed.
Narcissa looked at the object in her hands, and then lifted it up. Click!
She smiled as she watched them. He sat on the floor just because of her. Narcissa knew Hermione was the only one to bring a change in him, even if it wasn't intentional or a major change.
"Draco, wake up. Draco!" When he didn't wake up, she decided to shook him a little. "Wake up!" But the result was the same.
"I am giving away your green apples." She shook him again, and as she had predicted, he immediately woke up.
"Wh- what? Where are the apples?" He was confused for a moment, but then understood everything as he looked at his mother.
"I told you to stop doing that to wake me up everytime. You don't know how much apples mean to me." He muttered.
Narcissa just crossed her arms in front of her and looked at him. "It's six o'clock in the morning. Why are you here so early?" He asked as he looked at the watch.
"Good morning to you, too." She smiled at him.
Draco yawned and stood up. After looking at the witch sleeping peacefully on his bed, he turned towards his mother. "Let's go downstairs. I don't want to wake her up this early."
------------
"So, mind telling me how exactly did you know that she was in my house last night?" Draco asked his mother.
"I never reveal my sources, Draco. I thought I had already told you that." She smiled at him.
"You did, but I chose not to accept it." He went into the kitchen, and came back a few moments later with a green apple in his hand.
"That's your problem, deal with it." Narcissa said. "Anyways, do you mind telling me why were you not sleeping on your bed?"
"I think you failed to notice that someone was sleeping on my bed. And, I don't want to receive hexes from her wand if I sleep next to her on it." He told her.
"But you could have slept in one of the guestrooms. I don't think it was necessary to sleep on the floor next to the bed." She said.
"I-well... I..." He stuttered. He hadn't thought that his mother might ask him this question. "I thought that she might get confused or panic when she would wake up in the morning and find herself in an unfamiliar place. So, I slept on the floor."
"Why would she think that your room is an unfamiliar place when she helped you to decorate it around seven months ago? I don't think Hermione forgets things very easily." Narcissa smirked at him.
"Yeah, right. Well... You see it was quite late, and that thought didn't really cross my mind. And, I was quite tired as well-" He started.
Narcissa cut him off as she started laughing at him. "You know you look really cute when you get nervous or flustered like this."
"Malfoys aren't cute." He grumbled.
"Malfoys don't become a ferret either." She smiled at him. As he was about to reply, they heard someone walking down the stairs.
"Oh, good morning, Hermione. I hope Draco didn't wake you up." Narcissa stood up as Hermione walked towards them.
She hugged her as Draco shot her a look which clearly said, "Are you kidding me?" But other than that, he remained silent.
Hermione stood awkwardly in front of Draco. "I- I am so sorry for any weird or idiotic thing I had done last night. I don't clearly remember everything, so I am-"
"Stop your rambling before you embarass yourself, Granger. And, I assure you that you didn't do anything stupid last night. I'll go and prepare a hangover potion for you." Draco stood up from the couch.
"I will leave you two to talk, which will hopefully not be about me, or about any embarrassing thing I have done." He nodded at them, and exited the room.
---------
When he returned a few minutes later, he found Hermione sitting on the couch where he had sat before, and his mother sitting on the armchair next to it.
"......I appreciate your help, but I don't want to face him again. I'll just ask someone to bring my things from his house." He heard Hermione speak.
"That's fine. But I hope you at least used some spells on him which he deserved. Draco didn't tell me what exactly you did." His mother said.
As Hermione finished telling her what all she did, his mother stood up, and pulled Hermione up as well. "You are a very strong person, Hermione, both physically and mentally. I am so proud of you. And always remember, if you ever need me, even for a small talk, I'll always be just a Floo away." Narcissa hugged her tightly.
"It means a lot to me, Narcissa. Your and Draco's kindness towards me is just... I can't even describe it. But I am surely thankful to you both." Hermione pulled away from her after a few moments. "Merlin, he let me stay at his place yesterday, and I still haven't thanked him-"
Draco decided to walk towards them at that moment. "You don't have to thank me. Although, if you still want to, you can cook breakfast for us. I am terrible at cooking." He said as he handed her the potion.
Hermione drank the potion, and smiled at him. "Of course. I have no doubt that you are terrible at it. I have had enough experience in our last year."
He scowled at her. "You know, you still haven't told me what had happened when he had tried to make breakfast for you, Hermione." Narcissa said.
"That's a story for another time." Draco told her. "I am surprised that you aren't crying right now. I mean, your engagement broke, that's a big thing."
"I did cry. Yesterday, before I went to the bar, I was sitting on that very bench in the park, on which we sat afterwards. I cried for half an hour before going to the bar to forget all about that. I just didn't tell you that." Hermione said.
Draco nodded. "You can go and shower if you want. As for your things, I'll bring them."
"But, it's still early. They would probably be sleeping right now." Hermione said as she looked at the clock.
"Well someone didn't care that it's early while waking me up." Draco looked at his mother. "I don't care about that Weasel. I'll go and bring your things here. If anything is left, I'll go again."
Hermione quickly hugged him and muttered a 'thank you' before going back upstairs. Draco was about to walk away from there when at the last moment, he turned back towards Narcissa.
"And don't think that I don't know about the picture you have taken of us before you woke me up. I heard the click." He scowled at her.
"Well then, why didn't you wake up? I had to threaten you that I am giving away your apples for that." She said.
"I thought that you will wait a few minutes before waking me up. And, I got scared when you threatened me. You have done it before. I wouldn't put it past you to do that again." He told her before disapparating from there.
-----------
"I am not doing this again. I hate sitting on that lamp post." McGonagall muttered as her friend greeted her.
"I know, but still, thank you for doing that. You know that Draco wouldn't have told me about her last night." Naricssa hugged her.
"Yeah, yeah. It's fine. Just tell me. Did you get the picture or not? I am not going to become a cat and then sit on that lamp post if you haven't." McGonagall said.
"Oh don't worry. I got the picture. But Draco also knows that I took their picture. Anyways, they look so cute, don't they?" Narcissa asked and her friend agreed with her.
--------
Three days later...
"Don't tell me you're still reading it."
Hermione looked up from the book to see Draco leaning against the doorway. She kept it aside as he walked towards her.
"I wasn't. finished it reading a few minutes ago, and was just thinking about something." She said.
"Thinking about what? Him again?" Draco sighed. "Hermione, you haven't come out of this room since three days, except for eating food. I don't have any problem with you staying here, but I just want you to stop staying in your room the whole day."
"And what am I supposed to do instead?" Hermione asked him.
"You don't know? You can visit the library which is in my house. Or, you can meet the Potters. They have been irritating me ever since the news came out, and you don't even want to meet them." He said.
"I am scared that they mate hate me for breaking the engagement. I mean, Ron is Ginny's brother, and Harry's best friend." She muttered.
"He's my former brother." Hermione's head snapped towards the door, just to see Ginny and Harry standing there.
"I may or may not have let them in." Draco sheepishly said when Hermione glared at him. "As nice as this reunion is, I have better things to do than be a part of it. You know where to find me." He winked at Hermione and left the room.
"Are you mad, woman? How can you even think like that." Ginny exclaimed as she hugged her best friend.
"I just thought that-" Hermione started but Harry cut her off.
"Just thought that we will still keep a relationship with him even after he did this to you. Yeah, you're completely mad." Harry hugged her tightly.
"You're my best friend, Hermione. And, as for Ron, he's not my friend anymore. Not after he did this." He added.
"He's lucky that Harry stopped me from murdering him. But at least, I got to use my famous hex on him." Ginny smirked.
"I can only imagine what will happen to him if he goes to the Burrow. That is, if he is still welcome there." Harry said.
"Thank you so much guys. It means a lot to me." Hermione smiled. "But to be honest, I think I somehow knew that we weren't meant to be. I guess I was just lying to myself by thinking otherwise all this time."
Ginny grinned at her. "Of course. We all know you like someone else. Someone who was in Slytherin, and became your very close friend."
Harry narrowed his eyes at them. "Who is it- wait, it's not Malfoy, right? Please don't tell me it's not him."
"I must not tell lies, Mr Potter." Ginny winked at him as he groaned. "You should have seen these two that year. We all knew how much they liked each other, but what can we do when they're so oblivious."
"Will you both stop? I do not like him, Ginny. And, how can you even say that? I was engaged to your brother until a few days back." Hermione shook her head.
"Oh please. As much as I would like you to be my sister-in-law, even I couldn't deny the fact that you looked good with Malfoy. I know the way two look at each other. I wonder why you two aren't together yet." She said.
Hermione was thankful when Harry changed the topic of their conversation. After talking with for a few minutes, Ginny stood up.
"We should probably go back. We have irritated Malfoy enough already." Ginny rolled her eyes. Harry nodded and hugged Hermione tightly.
"Just call us if you need anything. I love you, 'Mione." Harry kissed her cheek. "I love you too, Harry." Hermione said, and he exited the room.
"I know this isn't the right time to say this, but I think I am happy that you broke your engagement with him. I know you weren't that happy with him." Ginny hugged her. "Also, tell me if anything happens between you and Malfoy."
Hermione smacked her head playfully and laughed with her.
------------
Draco was going to enter her room when he saw Harry exiting it. "Finally. I was wondering when you two would leave."
"Such a kind and nice man as always, Malfoy." Harry rolled his eyes at him.
"Why thank you, Potter. Anyways, I just wanted to know that she's happy, right? Don't tell me I let you both into my house, and it was a waste." Draco said.
If Harry was surprised by seeing his concern for his best friend, he didn't show it. "I guess she's happy. And, I mean genuinely happy now."
"Thanks, Malfoy." Harry held out his hand to him. "You have done a lot for her. And, it really means a lot to her as well as me."
Draco looked at his hand for a moment, and then shook it. "She's my very close friend, Potter. I would do anything for her."
"Just let her know that I care for her." Harry smiled and walked away from him.
"Not like I do." Draco muttered.
-------------
Half an hour later, and Draco had finally managed to convince Hermione to leave the guestroom, which had practically become 'her' room.
If he knew that she would leave the room by just saying that the new books had arrived in her favourite bookshop, he wouldn't have to waste his time and energy.
But his frustration vanished when he saw her smiling as she checked out the new books. She was really worth all the frustration for him.
"Yeah, that's all. I will go pay for these now." Hermione said as she carried seven books in her hands.
"I already paid for them and my book, Hermione." Draco said, and before she could protest, he led her towards the door.
He reduced the size of the books, and dropped them in the bag he was carrying. "I will take my revenge, Malfoy." Hermione glared at him.
"Let's go home, Mother would be waiting for us, and I think she called her friend there as well." He ignored her statement, and apparated both of them to his house.
---------
"Are you sure that this is a good book?" Draco asked her as he looked at the book in his hand. She had told him to buy that book, saying that she had read it, and it was nice.
"Yes, Draco. Divergent is a nice book and series to read. You just try the first one, I am sure you'll go and buy the other two books as well." Hermione said.
"Fine." He muttered and Hermione exited his room.
When she went back to his room after three hours, she found him reading that book while sitting on his bed.
"How many chapters have you read till now?" She sat down next to him on the bed.
"I am in... Just a second... Chapter eleven. I like the book so far." He told her.
"You remember reading the name 'Tobias Eaton' in the starting?" When he nodded, she continued, "You told me that you don't like spoilers."
"I am warning you, Granger..." Draco glared at her.
She pointed to a certain character's name in the book, and said, "This character is Tobias Eaton. And this book ends with..." She leaned closer to him, and told him everything.
"GRANGER!" He shouted at her as she exited the room. She had spoiled the book for him, just like she used to do in their last year.
(A/N: I hope I didn't spoil the book/series for anyone. Also, do check out that book.)
---------
Few months later...
"Hey, Draco?"
Draco looked up from his hands to see Hermione standing behind him. He beckoned her to sit next to him on the grass.
"I just wanted to thank you for letting me stay here for so long. You didn't have to do that, and you won't even let me pay you." She looked at the rose bushes in front of her.
"You are my friend, Hermione. My best friend, and not to mention that you saved me from going into Azkaban as well. Besides, you cook for us everyday, that's enough." He smiled at her.
"Can I confess something?" She looked at him.
Draco nodded. "Sure."
"I think I am in love with someone. I mean, I am in love with someone, and I assure you, that person is not Ron. I guess I was in love for a long time, and I just didn't realise it. But, now I do." She said.
Draco slowly nodded. She was in love with someone. Someone who was probably not him. He thought, who would ever love me anyway? I just lost her twice.
"I-I am happy for you. Really." He tried his best to smile at her, and not let his sadness be clear in his voice.
"You really are stupid, you know?" She shook her head.
"What do you mean?" He asked her.
"I-I know what you f-feel about me. I know that you have feelings for me." When he looked shocked, she added, "Narcissa told me yesterday."
He opened and closed his mouth a few times. She looked at him for a few moments, and the grinned.
Leaning closer to him, she kissed his cheek. "Just so you know, those feelings are mutual, Draco."
Before he could say anything, she ran back inside the house.
He sat frozen there for a few seconds. "She just said that she's in love with someone, and then she said that the feeling is mutual..."
He started grinning as he realised what she meant. "OI GRANGER! GET BACK HERE!"
He was about to run towards her, when he stopped and instead dialed his mother's number on his phone. "Someone needs to tell her to stop telling Hermione everything."
A/N: That's it for this oneshot. It was 3000+ words. Hope you guys liked it. I am sorry if it was boring, cheesy, escalated quickly or was crappy. I just got this idea, and wanted to write it.
