Gone Wrong
A/N: Hey everyone! Hope you guys liked the last oneshot. I apologise if it was too cheesy, or escalated quickly, but I am not at all good at writing fluff so... Anyways, there'll be an important announcement in next oneshot, or maybe in the one after that, so please check it. Read the A/N at the end to find out when the next oneshot will be out. On with the chapter!
Credit goes to @baybayway. Thanks for that!
You know what can happen if a spell aimed for a certain someone hits someone else, right?
Or, if a spells goes wrong, and now you have to deal with the consequence?
Apparently, a certain idiotic Slytherin didn't know either of them. He didn't know what he was getting himself, and probably the others as well, into when he did that.
But hey, don't tell Draco, okay? His temper is not the best one, after all. More likely, he has the worst temper among the Slytherins.
His only rival at that was none other than the Brightest Witch of Her Age, Hermione Jean Granger.
Even Blaise wanted to know whose temper was worse, the ferret's or the Brightest Witch's? But of course, it wasn't like he was going to go and test their tempers.
Due to his good luck, a Slytherin eighth year was surely going to experience at least one of those tempers. And, who knows, he may even get a chance to experience both of them.
----------
It all started as a quiet, lazy, Sunday afternoon in the Slytherin common room.
A group of six people, all Pureblood of course, were sitting on the ground, playing the game of twenty questions. One of them, Blaise Zabini, had suggested to use Veritaserum which had been stolen by him from the Potions' Cabinet.
According to him, "Draco can never be trusted to speak the truth. If you don't believe, just consider this. He always says that he is the best seeker ever, when he can't ever catch a snitch."
And of course, Draco had to retort, "There's no need of a freaking truth potion in this stupid game, Zabini. But, if I'll take the potion, then so will you all. Who knows who will be lying when answering a question?"
So here they were, playing that game. Each person had to ask and answer Twenty questions, and there's no option of skipping any (the rules were made by Draco). Considering the fact that all of them were free for the rest of the day, they had no problem with the game lasting for a few hours.
"Alright, everyone's on question... What it is? Oh yeah, question nineteen, right?" Blaise asked everyone after two hours.
Five people nodded their heads.
"Who's turn is it now?" Hermione asked them.
(A/N: Yes, Hermione is in Slytherin, and she's a Pureblood. And to answer your question as to why she is, please read the last oneshot 'Trip Towards Love'. It has the answer to that question, and sorry for not including the reason here!)
"I think it's my turn to ask the question. Whom should I ask?" Blaise muttered and looked at everyone. "Ah ha, my favourite, Draco."
Draco groaned.
"So, if you could take any girl on a date, doesn't matter whether she's in our house or not, who will you take?" He asked him.
"Hermione Granger." He immediately answered.
Hermione choked on air.
Blaise and Theo high-fived each other.
Pansy recorded it using her camera while Crabbe shook his head.
(A/N: Just pretend that it was Goyle who died in the Room of Requirement in Deathly Hallows.)
And, last but not least, Draco facepalmed himself. Why had he even agreed to play this stupid game? He wondered.
"Wow, Draco, I didn't know you were this serious about her." Blaise smirked at him. "I thought it was just a silly little crush as you-"
Draco threw a pillow at him. "It is the Veritaserum's fault. The potion tricked me! If it hadn't been for that stupid potion, I wouldn't have said that."
"You do know it is the truth potion, don't you? And that you can't stop it from affecting you even if you use Occlumency." Theo raised an eyebrow at him.
"Yeah, well I need to go to Potions now. Wouldn't want Slughorn to give me detention, now, would we?" Draco quickly stood up. "Meet you all at dinner!"
Before anyone could say anything, he rushed out of the common room. Pansy, Theo, Blaise and Crabbe looked at Hermione, who immediately found a great interest in her shoes.
She remembered throwing them on Draco once when he had irritated her.
Quite fascinating shoes, huh?
"Do you think he remembers that today is a Sunday? Or that even if he wanted to go to Potions, he didn't take his bag or even his robe." Pansy whispered to Blaise.
Blaise shrugged in reply. "Well, he isn't known to do things like we do them. Quite a dramatic bloke, or probably the most dramatic person ever."
Theo was still looking at Hermione. "I thought you would like his answer, Granger. Good to know that he hasn't changed, even if it's been two years."
Hermione also remembered wearing them when she visited Narcissa in the Malfoy villa in France during the Winter Holidays. She had requested Hermione to take her to Muggle London as she really liked those shoes.
Who knew shoes can be so interesting to look at?
Oh, and how could she forget the shoelaces? A really interesting colour-
"Hermione." Theo shook her shoulder lightly.
She had to unfortunately stop looking at her interesting shoes, and instead look up at him. "What, Theo?"
"Have you, umm... you know... talked to him at all after that happened?" Theo asked her. He was lucky she didn't have her wand at that time, but the look she gave him was enough to scare him.
"No, I have not. And, I have no intentions of doing that as well." Hermione stood up. "I will just go to the library."
"B-but, you know he tried to talk to you-" Blaise started but was cut off.
"He didn't try to talk to me! He sent you four to try to convince me to talk to him. He is a freaking idiot. When he comes back, tell him that if he wanted to talk to me, I will be in the library." Hermione glared at them and left the common room.
"Well, that went well." Pansy awkwardly said.
----------
"You don't love him. You don't love him. You don't love him." Hermione kept on muttering as she tried to focus on the book she was reading.
"I don't love Draco. That's right, I don't love him." She hadn't turned the page in the last twenty minutes, and didn't have a clue about what she was even reading.
"I. Do. Not. Love. Him." Hermione sighed. This was it. Once more and she would be able to focus on the poor book. "I don't love-"
"You don't love who?" Hermione looked up from the book to see Draco sitting in the chair in front of her.
"No one. And who told you that you can sit here, Malfoy? Where is your fiancée?" Hermione glared at him.
"Yeah, well, I was wondering if we could go to that liquid zoo you told me about. I promise I'll tell you everything." Draco looked at her.
"First of all, it's not a liquid zoo, it's called an aquarium. And, I don't believe you, Malfoy." Hermione's glare intensified and she left the library.
--------
"Stupid cockroach. Thinks he can come talk to me after two years and expect everything to go back the way they used to be-" Hermione kept on rambling as she entered the Slytherin common room.
"Crabbe-no! It's not- CRABBE!" Pansy shouted just as Crabbe accidentally shot a spell at Hermione.
"Draco is going to kill you." Blaise muttered as he watched Hermione.
"Draco is going to kill all of us because we wanted to try this spell. You really have a bad timing, don't you, Hermione?" Theo sighed.
"Should we tell Draco about this?" Crabbe asked them.
"Are you mad? I have no interest in him running after me, using those hexes on him. I don't think we should tell Draco about this." Pansy shook her head.
"Not tell me about what?" Draco asked them as he entered the common room. He had left the library shortly after Hermione did. He was met with four shocked faces.
And...
A puppy.
A small brown puppy with hazel brown eyes, and a wand lying next to it on the floor. Pansy quickly bent down and grabbed that wand.
"Who is this?" Draco asked them.
"She is Hermione. Draco, we didn't mean to but- Ouch!" Theo started but glared at Blaise when he pinched his arm.
"What Theo means is that she is Hermione's pet. Yeah, just that, nothing more. You remember how she gave Crookshanks to her parents a few months ago? She wanted a pet and so she got this puppy yesterday." Blaise told him.
"Okay... but why are you all so shocked to see me? I know I am extremely good looking and talented, but please don't look this shocked every time I enter a room." Draco rolled his eyes. "Anyways, where is Granger? I wanted to talk to her."
She is right in front of you, idiot. Blaise thought.
"Ohh...well...she is in-Muggle London, yeah. She told us that she would be staying with her parents for a few days. She just left a few minutes ago, but she couldn't take this puppy with her as Crookshanks is there in her parents' house." Pansy said.
"Looks like I will have to wait then." Draco shook his head. "Anyways, what is this puppy's name, and what kind of puppy is this even? I haven't seen a puppy like this ever before."
"Her name is Herms-"
"Kio-"
"Mio-"
"Mia-"
"Wait what? She has four names? How is that even possible?" Draco narrowed his eyes at them. "Is there something you all are not telling me?"
Before anyone could say anything, Pansy stepped forwards. "Her name is Mio. And she is a very special kind of puppy. I don't know much about her since Hermione didn't really tell us."
"Oh well, okay then, I will just go to my room. See you later, idiots." Draco smirked and turned towards the stairs.
The four remaining people gasped as they saw Hermione, in her puppy form, following him to his room.
"I thought she hated him?" Theo asked them.
"It seems like Mio doesn't really hate him. After all, Hermione never hated him. She's just a bit upset." Blaise sighed. "Anyways, how do we change her back?"
-----------
Five days later...
Draco had grown pretty fond of Mio. She would follow him everywhere, even in classes. McGonagall had first scolded him when Mio followed him to the Transfiguration classroom, but when Blaise had told her what had happened, she had allowed Mio to attend classes.
Unfortunately, they weren't able to ask McGonagall to help them as when they had gone to her office that day, they were informed that she had left Hogwarts to go 'somewhere'.
They didn't need to ask to know where she had gone.
Draco would talk to Mio every day, and she would even sleep next to him on his bed. He would often say that she was his best friend, and would tell her everything.
He even told Mio that he loved Hermione.
And that, though Hermione could be irritating sometimes, he still loved her and would be grateful if she even talked to him again.
He told Mio that he had to break up with Hermione in his sixth year because he knew that Voldemort would harm people who were close to him if he failed to complete his tasks.
He hadn't told Hermione that because he knew that she would try to find a way to help him, and wouldn't leave his side, but he couldn't endanger her.
After the war, just as he was about to talk to her and explain everything, he got to know that he was betrothed to Astoria Greengrass. He wasn't able to find a way to break the engagement, and even if he did, he knew that Hermione won't talk to him again.
Few months later, with the help of his mother and eventually his father, who had learned to accept that his son was in love with a muggleborn, Draco found a way to break the engagement.
To say that Astoria wasn't happy about that would be an understatement.
Somehow, Draco found the courage to talk to Hermione, but he got to know that she was dating Ron Weasley that time.
He didn't talk to her even when they broke up. Finally, his mother convinced him to at least explain everything to her, and he agreed.
Since then, everytime he would try to talk to her, or send someone else to tell her, she would just ignore him or that person.
Draco told Mio that as soon as Hermione came back, he would beg her to talk to him, even if it meant that he had to request her in front of the Great Hall.
Though he wouldn't admit it again, he couldn't care less about his pride.
Mio knew that he loved Hermione. And now, she couldn't wait to smack his head and tell him that he was a foul loathsome evil little cockroach, but still, she loved him.
Draco smirked when he saw Mio looking at him as he unbuttoned his shirt. "Like what you see, Mio?"
He chuckled when she immediately ran away from there. She was just like Hermione, Draco thought.
----------
Draco was in the library.
Pansy had quickly stopped Mio from following him, and had held her until McGonagall came to the Slytherin Common Room.
"I have to say, I am very disappointed in you all. It took me five days to find this spell. Just think if I hadn't found the counter spell, what would have had happened?" McGonagall sighed.
"Hermione would be Mio forever." Theo tried to lighten the mood, but received a glare from the Headmistress.
"I should have done this sooner, but no worries, I will do it now. Fifty points from Slytherin for doing this to Miss Granger." McGonagall told them.
"Fifty?" Theo gaped at her.
"Fifty each. You should be lucky that I am not sending you all to the Forbidden Forest for detention. You will clean the whole seventh floor the Muggle way for the whole week." McGonagall narrowed her eyes at him.
"I don't care about that, but please, just save Granger. I swear, I didn't mean to use that spell on her. I was just trying it, and suddenly Hermione came and my spell hit her. But Draco wouldn't understand that." Crabbe shook his head.
McGonagall sighed and muttered the counter spell. Slowly, they watched Mio, the puppy, change into Hermione.
She gasped as she looked around, and saw that she was wearing the same clothes she was wearing that day.
"Headmistress McGonagall! T-thank y-you so much... I thought I would s-stay like that f-forever..." Hermione faltered and hugged her tightly.
"There is no need to thank me, Miss Granger. I am glad I was able to help you. But, you should probably thank Narcissa Malfoy. She was the one who helped me to find that spell." McGonagall smiled at her.
After making sure she was okay, McGonagall left the room. But not before reminding Pansy, Theo, Blaise and Crabbe that they would be receiving detentions.
As soon as she left, Hermione pointed her wand at Crabbe. "YOU IDIOT! DON'T YOU HAVE ANY SENSE OR WHAT? I WILL KILL YOU!"
Hermione punched him on his nose, and used the Bat Bogey hex on him.
"You should be glad that Draco didn't know about this, Crabbe." Pansy sighed.
"Oh, I do know about this. I was just thinking what spells I should use on him." Draco glared at them as he entered the room.
"McGonagall told me everything. You all are idiots if you think that you can hide this from me. I am very talented in using spells, you know." Draco pointed his wand at Crabbe, and threw various hexes on him.
--------
One week later...
Hermione, thankfully, forgave him but whenever he asked her if she would go out with him, she would avoid him.
She knew that he loved her, and she had told him that she loved him as well. But, the reason she wasn't going out with him was unknown to her as well.
Maybe she didn't want to have a secret relationship with him. She wanted to hold his hands in the corridors and hang out with him in front of others.
"She's so beautiful. And talented. Not to mention, forgiving and kind as well. I don't deserve her... But I still love her..." Draco muttered as he looked at Hermione who was sitting at the other end of the table.
Pansy had had enough. She knew why Hermione wasn't agreeing to go out with him. And, she would get frustrated when Draco would tell them that she was avoiding him.
That idiotic ferret didn't even ask her why she was saying no.
So, Pansy decided to take matters into her own hands. She grabbed Draco's hand, and pulled him up. "You. Are. An. Idiot."
She dragged him towards the end of the table where Hermione was playing with her food. Draco tried to protest, but Pansy didn't listen.
"Hey, Granger, do you mind going on a date with him? I know he's an idiot, but he loves you, and he's irritating us." Pansy looked at her.
"Wha-Pansy- I..." Draco gaped at her.
Hermione simply stared at them.
Other students were telling her to accept, while some were saying Draco to ask her nicely. Some even clicked pictures.
McGonagall smiled as she looked at them, and quickly sent her patronus to her friend, Narcissa, telling her to come there.
They had a lot of planning to do.
Draco gulped, and bent down on his knees so that Hermione wouldn't have to look up at them. He took her hands in his, and squeezed lightly. "Please, Hermione. I love you so much, and I am sorry that I hurt you. I never meant to that...but still, I am sorry. Please give them this chance. And you can say no if you want, I won't get angry, I promise. But please..."
Hermione sighed. "You make it impossible to say no to that date."
Draco's eyes widened. "Does that mean you will-"
"Yes, you idiot. I'll go on that date with you." Hermione grinned and quickly kissed him. She stood up, and pulled him up as well. "How about we go now?"
Draco looked at McGonagall. "Headmistress, if that's alright-"
"Yes, Mister Malfoy. You two can go. But please come back before lunch. I want you two to meet someone." McGonagall smiled at them.
Draco grinned and led Hermione out of the Hall. "So, how about we go to that liquid zoo?"
Theo shook his head. "And to think that all of that happened because she became Mio."
Blaise patted Crabbe's shoulder and said, "Thanks to you, idiot. It wouldn't have happened if that spell hadn't gone wrong."
A/N: That's it for this oneshot. It was 3000+ words. Hope you guys liked it. I think it was a bit boring, and escalated quickly, and I am sorry for that. I don't know why I can't good Oneshots now.
