Mornings
Probably his favorite thing about Hermione was watching her in the mornings. She was able to convince him down from buying a manor to buying a large house instead, and it wasn't even too far from her parents'. They had only been engaged for a few months, but he wanted to give her the best. And since they had been living together for about a month now, he was able to memorize all of the small details about her.Draco leaned against the door frame quietly, his hands in his sweatpants pockets and a soft smile on his face. She hadn't noticed him yet, and was off in her own little world.
The way her face would scrunch up sometimes as she read from the Prophet (although why she even bothered with the blasted paper still, he had no idea). Her eyes would read across the pages quickly, darting back and forth as she absorbed all of the information, only pausing to take a sip of her tea every now and then. She wasn't much of a coffee drinker; she told him once that the caffeine gave her headaches. She would check her watch shortly after taking a sip of her tea, and at six-thirty on the dot, she would stand up, fold the newspaper and take her tea back into the bedroom.
When she stood up, she caught sight of him in the doorway and smiled warmly. "Good morning, sweetheart."
He smiled in return and walked over to her, giving her a soft kiss. "Good morning, beautiful. Anything interesting in the paper this morning?"
She shook her head. "It's always the same old thing. Though apparently I was caught with another wizard earlier this week by Rita Skeeter."
"Oh really?" Draco raised an eyebrow, a wide grin on his face. "Anyone we know?"
"Blaise," She shrugged.
"But..." He gave her a confused look. "Weren't you actually hanging out with Blaise earlier this week?"
"Yes, to help him get a present for Ginny," She laughed. "Skeeter apparently thinks that he was taking me on a shopping spree."
Draco laughed at that. "Blaise was never good at buying gifts. I suppose I'll allow this affair."
"I appreciate that! He's quite nice, I'd hate to lose him!" Hermione giggled. Then she stood up on her tip-toes and gave him a long kiss before stepping back down. "I have to go get ready. I made you breakfast!"
He looked over towards the counter to see a plate of eggs, toast, and bacon. He grinned at her and kissed her nose. "You take such good care of me."
After another kiss, she pulled away and went upstairs to their bedroom to get ready, leaving him alone in the kitchen. He grabbed the plate from the counter, smiling to himself and wondering how he got so lucky.
