Chapter 10| Tweek

As Craig, Bridon and I rehearse, Ms. Davis watches us like a hawk. She completely ignores the others, brushing them off when they do well.

"Now this is a puzzle. Which way should we go, Toto?" Bridon asks, staring at the ground as if it was the Yellow Brick Road.

"You could flip a coin." Craig answers, fully imagined as the Scarecrow as he spins his arms. I watch in fascination as my boyfriend is a practically new person.

"What? Who said that?" Bridon continues, channeling Dorthy perfectly.

"Or close your eyes and spin around."

Craig's performance is just as Kevin said: extraordinary. He's talented, he's excellent, he's an actor. It shocks me to the core. Craig Tucker, the boy who destroyed the whole set last year, is participating in a play. And he's excelling.

It makes me so happy, I want to grab him and kiss him. I don't, not wanting to ruin his performance. Like me, Ms. Davis is watching happily. The scene progresses, and soon it's over.

Bridon and Craig immediately change, postures returning to their normal and expressions drifting. Ms. Davis applauds, causing most of the others to glance over.

Previously, I had been practising with Bridon. Ms. Davis also clapped when it was over, but she seems just a tad bit more enthusiastic when clapping for Craig.

A part of me burns with jealousy, while the rest shines with pride for Craig.

"Amazing!" She exclaims, still clapping. Her bangles clang with the claps. "I haven't decided yet."

Bridon groans. "Does this mean I have to go over this scene again? This would be the sixteenth time!"

"Ladies don't complain." Ms. Davis snaps at Bridon, waggling a finger.

"Tell that to my ex." He mumbles, running a hand through his hair.

"Go rehearse with Stan." She orders, and Bridon swiftly joins Stan with a smile. I roll my eyes at him, pushing my glasses up my nose.

Could he be any more obvious?

"How long will it take you to decide?" Craig asks the drama teacher, arms folded. "I don't want to waste my time learning the whole script."

"You a-almost know the whole thing anyway." I tease Craig, and he scoffs.

"I'll decide when I decide." She shrugs, turning her back on us. "You both have great chemistry with Bridon, but who knows about the others."

With that, she stalks after Bridon and Stan. She seems to be a little nervous about Dorothy being played by a boy, so she's been slightly obsessed with watching Bridon.

I'm glad she's gone, as I can now compliment Craig without her viewing and commenting.

"You're great." I tell him, taking his hands in mine. Craig scoffs.

"I don't mean to boast," he begins, smirking. "But great is an understatement."

"You do m-mean to boast." I tell him, smiling as I capture his lips with mine. He let's go of my hands immediately, wrapping them around my waist. I clutch the strings of his hat, tugging him closer.

Just as the kiss gets deeper, someone awkwardly coughs.

"Cmon! Break it up! Not in front of the kids!" Clyde commands, his voice booming over the other students. Craig jumps back, letting go of me as if I was a venomous snake.

We both look to Clyde, who's tiptoed to cover Kevin's eyes. He must be the 'kids' Clyde shouted about.

"You're aware that K-Kevin isn't a child?" I ask Clyde, who slowly removes his hands.

"He is to me." Clyde states, smirking.

"So, you're coming out as a pedophile?" Craig asks, edging closer to Kevin and Clyde. More so Kevin.

I, once again, raise an eyebrow at my boyfriend's actions.

"Do I have a disease I'm unaware of, Craig?" I ask jokingly, and Clyde snorts. Kevin glances to Clyde, then proceeds to obsess over his snort.

"No." Craig laughs, awkwardly. He rubs the back of his neck, cheeks tinted a light pink.

"Then what's w-with the edging closer to Clyde and Kevin?" I ask, and Clyde hums. He wiggles out of Kevin's arms, inspecting his best friend.

"Since when did you want to be close to me?" Clyde inquires, stroking his chin as he circles Craig. He grabs Craig's hat, removing it then sniffing Craig's hair. "What have you taken?"

"What have I taken?" Craig echoes, glaring at Clyde and snatching his hat back. Kevin giggles, and Craig's gaze snaps to his then back to Clyde. "You just sniffed my hair. I should be asking you that."

"I was checking for drugs." Clyde tells him, and I laugh.

"Who t-taught you that people k-kept drugs in their hair?"

"Television." Clyde says simply, shrugging. I decide not to question what shows he's been watching, as they're probably weird. Especially if they're Kevin's recommendations.

My thoughts begin to drive me mad. I'm wondering why Craig would inch away from me like that. Why did he want to be closer to Kevin? It doesn't make sense, Craig couldn't possibly prefer the company of Kevin over me, right?
