Chapter 22| Clyde
"If Craig doesn't get Tweek over here, he's gonna have a bad time." Kevin tells me, tapping his foot impatiently on the ground.
The bell for lunch has rung, and the kids from South Park Elementary have started to crowd into the hall. Seats are slowly, but surely, filling up. Everyone is in costume and ready, apart from Tweek.
"Craig will find him, you do-"
"My parents are here." Kevin interrupts me. Currently, we are watching as people pour in. I've just been watching, looking out for anyone I recognise. We're slightly hidden behind the deep red curtains, but you can probably see us if you tried looking.
"Where?" I ask, looking out into the crowd. I see Ruby and all of her friends, Bebe's mother and that's about it.
"I'm not telling you where they are." He says, and I look at him confused.
"Why not?" I ask, "what's wrong with them?"
"They're embarrassing." Kevin mumbles, "and they kind of know who you are."
I stop looking out for them, and face Kevin confused. "How?"
"I may or may not have told my mum that I really like you," he says sheepishly, his cheeks turning pink. "And she may or may not have told my dad too. " I smile at him and grab his hand, squeezing it.
"You're so cute." Kevin gives me a look.
"I'm taller than you. You're the cute one. I'm the hot one."
"Will you stop reminding me of that fact?" I say, my voice flat. Kevin laughs and pinches my cheek. "Also, I'm the drop dead sexy guy that everyone wants to screw."
"And what does that make me?" Kevin asks, leaning down so our eyes are on level. I lean up to whisper in his ear.
"They hot, sexy, seductive guy that I want to screw." At that, Kevin shoves me.
"Ew! No! Bad Clyde!" He flicks my nose, and I ruffle his hair.
"I see you're on your tip toes." He teases, "awe, you're so short and baby like."
"Then that makes you a pedophile." I state. "And you're only an inch taller anyway!" I protest, but Kevin shrugs.
"Still taller. And don't think I didn't hear that you just called me a pedophile." I smile innocently and then look back into the crowd. Kevin looks over my shoulder, holding onto my hand.
My gaze flickers over each person in the crowd, until my eyes land upon a tall, pale woman with stunning, ice blue eyes.
Her cheeks are flushed and her blue eyes are wide as she seems to be apologising to another woman and then she ducks down. I see her again holding a purse and various make up. She tips the make up into the purse and hands it back, rushing off. A a shorter man follows her, with brown eyes and black hair.
That's defiantly Kevin's mother.
"Hey Kev," I start.
"Hm?"
"I think I've found your mother." I say, turning around to face him. His cheeks are pink, just like the woman's, his blue eyes wide (once again, just like the woman's).
"That's fantastic!" He says sarcastically, turning around and walking back stage. I follow him, laughing.
"She just fell over something. Like you did when I first met you." I tell him.
Kevin isn't that clumsy, but he fell when I first met him, lost his balance when Cartman pushed him and banged his head on a Mortal Kombat machine.
"I resent my mother for passing down her clumsy gene to me." He tells me, and I laugh.
"Well, I get my shortness from my mother." I say, shrugging.
Kevin's about to say something back, when he bumps into Tweek. They both fall back, but I catch Kevin before he hits the floor. Tweek however, falls back on his ass. He curses.
"Thanks Kevin." He says, his voice laced with sarcasm, standing up and rubbing his lower back. Kevin stands up straight, and smiles apologetically at Tweek.
"Sorry.." He then stops, probably just realising that it's Tweek. "TWEEK! Where have you been?!" Kevin demands, his arms crossed. Tweek cheeks slowly burn a bright red, and he pushes his glasses up into his hair.
"Doesn't matter. I need help getting into costume." He says, grabbing Kevin's wrist and dragging him into the changing area. Ms. Davis is there, and she's looking down at the Mad Hatter costume. When she sees Tweek, her eyes brighten.
"Thank god!" She cheers, rasing her arms into the air. "Get him into costume! Where's Craig?!"
Kevin picks up Tweek's costume and places it on a near by table. He brushes it down, making sure everything is perfect as Tweek quickly clips his hair back.
"I'm here." Craig's voice cuts through the room, and Ms. Davis claps.
"Thank you Craig! I could hug you! But I won't, for obvious reasons. Now, get him into costume!" And with that last shriek, Ms. Davis rushes out of the area.
It's awkwardly silent for a second, and then we start to move.
"Tweek, I can't believe I'm saying this, undress." I tell him, helping Kevin with the costume. Craig joins us at the table, picking up the dress shirt.
As soon as Tweek gets his shirt over his head, Craig passes Tweek the dress shirt. He slips it on, and Craig buttons it up. Then the waistcoat, and finally the over coat. I pass Tweek the pants, and he slips them on as Craig grabs the wig from the table.
"Tweek, where are your contacts?" Kevin calls out, as he looks over at Tweek.
"In my jeans pockets." He tells us, as Craig carefully takes Tweek's glasses off of his head and passes them to me. I give them to Kevin, picking up Tweek's jeans I look in the pockets for his contacts.
I find them in a green box, and Kevin snatches them from me while walking towards Tweek.
"Thanks Kev." I say. He looks back and gives me an apologetic look.
"Sorry, slightly stressed, the performance has already started." He tells me, motioning for me to walk over to him. I do, and he kisses me on the cheek and tells me to get the shoes.
Wide eyed and blushing, I grab the shoes and place them next to Tweek's feet. Craig has finished with the wig, clipping it into place one last time. Craig steps back, and un ties the laces on Tweek's shoes.
"Tweek, you need to put in your contacts." Kevin says, thrusting the box under his nose. Tweek takes the box, and opens it.
"Tweek, step into the shoes." Craig says, and Tweek listens to him. Craig quickly ties the laces, and steps back so Tweek can put in his lenses.
He leans his head back, placing the lenses in one by own and blinking rapidly. They make his eyes shinier, and o notice Craig staring. I nudge him, and he glares at me.
"Love." I whisper, and Craig rolls his eyes, walking past me and out of the area.
"Tweek, my costume looks great on you." Kevin says, smiling. Tweek scoffs, and walks out of the area. Kevin and I follow him.
"Let's hope that this goes perfectly." Kevin tells me once Tweek leaves. "I really hope my parents like the costumes."
I grab his hand. "With how hard you worked on them, it would be criminal for your parents to hate them."
"You helped." Kevin says, brushing his thumb over my hand. "You were a great mannequin."
I scoff and Kevin giggles, and we sit down and watch the play from the gap in the curtains, hand in hand.

The applause is loud and the cheers are enthusiastic as each character comes onto stage and bows. Ms. Davis calls people up in groups. Each time, the applause gets louder until the main cast is shouted out.
Alice, The Hatter, Queen of Hearts and the Chesire Cat go up together, and earn the loudest applause.
Then slowly, the crowd goes quiet as Ms. Davis walks onto stage.
"Now, let's not forget, it's not only the talented actors that made this possible, there are people behind the scenes who deserve the spotlight too! A round of applause Ester and Lola, responsible for this lovely set!"
Esther walks out on stage, smiling and waving at some people in the back. She bows, and says that Lola isn't available. When she walks off, I hear her mutter something about period cramps.
I wish I didn't hear that.
"Let's clap for or sound and lighting group! Lisa Burger, Scott Malkinson and Butters Stotch!" The three slowly walk out on to stage, all blushing and shaking slightly. Next to me, Kevin awes and calls them cute.
"Seriously?" I ask, leaning closer to him.
"Look at how cute Scott looks." He says, nodding towards them. I glance over at Scott, who bows, his brown eyes shinning and his freckled cheeks red.
"No comment." I say, and Kevin gives me a look.
"They're so cute though." Kevin says once again. I roll my eyes, and the three walk backstage, smiling goofily.
"Now, I'd like a huge round of applause for one of the most talented textiles students I've ever met, Kevin Stoley!" As soon as the words leave Ms. Davis's mouth, Kevin's cheeks explode in a rosy pink blush.
"Who's cutely blushing now?" I ask him, smiling at he rolls his eyes and walks out. People start to clap, and the woman from before is cheering and shouting 'That's my baby!' Over and over again. I clap too, smiling as Kevin bows and walks back awkwardly, sitting down next to me. I wrap my arm around his shoulders and hug him from the side.
"You got the applause you deserve, and I'm sure your parents will support you in every way for you future career choice." I tell him, and Kevin smiles, leaning into me.
"How could you tell? By my mother shouting?"
"Maybe." I say, leaning closer to him. He shifts and turns fully in my direction, his hands on my knees as he leans forward once again.
Not sure of what to do, I stay still as Kevin closes his eyes and presses his lips to my own. Slowly, I close my own eyes, pulling Kevin closer to me, and kissing him back. His hands move from my legs, to my chest, to my neck as he pulls himself even closer, kissing me softly as the curtains slowly go down.
