Blind Dates

"In which two girls swap blind dates."

AN: Hermione was a Gryffindor alumni, Draco was a Slytherin alumni, Ron is now a Ravenclaw alumni, and Astoria is also a Slytherin alumni.

Ron and Hermione didn't have much interaction and he was instead apart of the Copper Trio which is a piece of writing that is currently being written for the last one year but I am so busy with life. This is more of a side story of what happened in their brighter future.

"And confirm!" Hermione squealed as she tapped on the icon on her rugged computer in the internet cafe below her apartment building. Her only muggle friend recommended that she try online dating after having multiple fiascoes with previous boyfriends only liking her looks until they saw her real preferred look. So who cares if she has the most bushiest hair in the world? Doesn't love matter than some woman's cake faced makeup?

Her face beamed when the person almost responded immediately and asked her to meet up at a small inn where she quite frequently visited with her friends. In fact, he asked if he wanted to meet tonight which she obliged because she was busy anyways until the weekend. Although a slight thought came to her and she wondered if it is a one night stand. She already encountered one of those types of guys and made a mental note to have a background check before she clicked yet.

Judging from the picture, it's obviously a wizard trying his luck. She recognized him from Hogwarts, but they didn't have any interaction after 1st year other than the occasional small talk during classes. Perhaps he was a Ravencaw since he had a blue tie during the battle of Hogwarts. She almost shuddered when she recalled the violence she fought alongside Harry and Neville and was proud when some Ravenclaws had the decency to fight back with their knowledge.

She first went upstairs to her closet to find a decent outfit for a first impression. Although Hermione isn't that type of woman to care what men think, she didn't want to be too formal or casual for a first date.

After ten minutes of searching, she deemed a sky blue shirt with white jeans to be suitable for the occasion. It is chilly in London, so she also had a matching grey cardigan to complete the look. Now the only thing left to do is to comb her bushy hair for the next two hours before her date.

So with some charms here, and a little hairspray there, she had normal curly hair tied into an elegant ponytail. Many others said she looked like Belle from the Disney movie with slightly darker skin and that abnormal bushy hair.

Finally, she was ready to exit out of the apartment in style before hurrying down about an hour before the date started. Call her crazy, but she considers punctuality really important.

When she arrived at the queer inn, she loved the atmosphere of all friends gathering around in a Tuesday evening with few families also around to give that warmth. She knew that her date would be the ONLY one without a partner, so she decided to book a table for the remainder of the time while eating the day's special.

Time seemed to past slower than the NEWT years as she twirled her soup spoon around the bowl for the thousandth time. That is until a rather dashing stranger appeared in front of her as he plopped himself to set opposing her. Hermione didn't particularly notice as she also brought a book just in case she came a bit too early.

"Ahem," the mysterious handsome blonde stranger called out before gasping at the sight of the bookworm. Even Hermione had taken a double take to see who sat in front of her. Being natural enemies, they started the conservation with a bad tone. Of course a friend's enemy is my enemy roared into her head from Harry.

"Granger?!"

"Malfoy?!"

They stared at each other before realizing that the time just ticked two minutes faster than they expected.

"What are you doing here? I thought Malfoys wouldn't dare walk these muggle streets," Hermione taunted slightly but she didn't want to certainly aggravate pompous brat too much. She knew just because certain purebloods are anti-Muggleborn, she shouldn't do the same thing but Malfoy was another thing.

"And why should I tell you? We aren't prefects, Granger in case you are still in your delusional world of authority. But all I am going to say is that I am waiting for someone." Draco explained in a contradicting manner which Hermione immediately noticed but it was a common thing nowadays to say things like that.

"Well my situation is like your's, except I came too early," Hermione stated as she slid the paper napkin as a bookmark for her book. She was reading a fairly dry book which millions of US students suffer from called the Scarlet Letter. Nonetheless she didn't have to write tons of post it notes per page...and the author is coming off topic. (Yes I am still salty!)

"Sounds like you anyways," he flashed a polite smile before stating,"Look, Granger, I don't want to get into a fight, so can we start new?"

"Deal, Mal- stranger." Hermione answered back with a small grin as he began his introduction.

"I'm Draco Lucius Malfoy of House Malfoy and I am here to introduce myself to you, Miss," Draco had a polite tone which flabbergasted Hermione on how she was seeing a different version...of a possible new ally or friend.

"I'm Hermione Jean Granger of SPEW and it's a pleasure to meet you, Mr.Malfoy," Hermione then began a conversation with Draco to the point she forgot she was even on a date at all. Instead she was one a new one which she enjoyed a lot.

Meanwhile Astoria Greengrass felt deflated as she saw her future potential fiancee engaging into a conversation with the Golden girl of the century. She knew Hermione from a polished glass perspective of others, and it was the literal definition of luck. Not that she was jealous of the girl, more on the fact of how Draco settled on meeting at one of her favorite inns.

Freedom came flying into her soul as she merrily walked alongside the crowd to see Big Ben. She loved the familiar ding as it brought her comfort from possible humiliation she would have received if she didn't face Hermione's direction into the dinning hall.

Maybe she'll tell her parents about the date and how "well" it went before marking the day of her escape. She is currently searching for jobs in the US so she could get away from her parent's wrath. Her sister was already the prim and proper witch, why did she have to follow example? Besides Daphne secured a marriage with a respected pureblood and wasn't that enough to satisfy her parents. They wanted her to have a comfortable lifestyle, but that seemed to disappear as a major factor for her. She wanted to be free.

"Uh, Miss, can you move a bit so I can take my picture?" A redhead asked her in a polite tone before she turned to see him with his dog and cat in a leash. He didn't seem like he was any less annoyed like her about a particular date blowing off. In reality, he did set up a date for his friend, Draco- they became friends since sixth year. He liked strolling around the streets of London with his pets who acted different for the typical stereotype of a dog or a cat.

"Sure!" Astoria chirped as her heart soared dangerously at the man she just met. She didn't even feel this connection with Draco or any other boy ever before. Although she did recognize him during her school years and those times when he was with Draco as well.

She watched carefully as Ron took a quick snap before taking a camera selfie with his pets with the old polaroid. Astoria felt interested in taking his picture and offered to do so. He nodded his head as striked a pose with his pets and Astoria couldn't help but almost drool.

"Here-"

"This is my phone number, feel free to call anytime. Also it's kind of obvious that you are a witch if you wear the Wizzies band shirt. I like that band as well, and I scored two tickets but my friends and family are busy. So would you like to come? Besides Draco hates this band and that makes me more happier" Ron asked shyly to the awed Astoria while also murmuring the last part with a small smile. The Wizzies were an old Wizard band that were still a hit four decades later. She immediately saw all her checklist being dotted with thousands of approvals and smiled internally.

"Thank you, Ron Weasley!" She squealed as she jumped up and down while holding his hands. He raised his eyebrow before realizing that he was a well known student in Hogwarts for being the only "pure" house to be collaborating with a Slytherin at the time period. His friendship with Draco is truly unexpected but he saw that the man had similar problems of longing to stand out in the crowd.

Maybe two romances sparked that day but their lifestyles changed dramatically.
