Alright, Nerds, C-c-c-c'mon

Drama class.

The one place where bursting into random song and dramatic arguments was socially acceptable. It was a safe place for those theater loving kids that felt most alive on stage, pretending to be someone else for a short period of time. Where reality could be escaped and replaced by the problems of a fictitious world of the collectives choosing.

Everyone's kind of lame here.

But that's what makes them cool.

In their own way.

Creativity thrives in drama class: from the hopeful playwright to the future Broadway star. Everyone has a shot to stand out and shine.

Brendon Urie watched with a smile as one student was finishing his small, shining moment up onstage.

"So give me the upgrade right nooooow!" Dallon belted from center stage in the school's theater. He held his arm out in the air in front of him as he held onto the note. When he let it go, he let himself crumble to a heap on the ground.

"Bravo, Dallon!" The drama teacher, Miss Mulany clapped as she rose from her seat. "You did beautifully!"

Dallon pushed himself up with a grin. "Thanks, Miss Mulany." Dallon looked out over the crowd, catching Brendon's eye towards the back of the theater.

Brendon mouthed the words good job before flashing a thumbs up at Dallon. The taller boy's grin grew as he moved to push himself completely up to his feet.

"Hold on, Dallon!" Miss Mulany exclaimed, waving her hand in order to catch his attention. "I actually want everyone to join you on the stage for an announcement before you all leave for home!"

Dallon nodded, crossing his legs and staying put up on the stage. Brendon, as well as, several other students that were scattered through the seats of the theater and the backstage hidden behind a deep red curtain. Brendon was just bounding up the stage when Ryan Ross bound out from behind the stage curtain.

"Brendon!" He exclaimed in an excited whisper as he rushed over to the darker haired boy. He stopped short of hugging him, choosing to instead press their sides together so they walked shoulder to shoulder. "You really killed it on Soul Of A Man." He spoke lowly as they continued across the stage.

"Thanks." Brendon grinned, watching their feet move in sync. "I liked your Squip performance."

Ryan smiled as scarlet invaded his cheeks. The two sat down at the edge of the large group of drama students. Ryan caught hold of Brendon's hand, pulling it slightly behind the shadows of their crossed legs in a sly maneuver. Brendon accepted it, not acknowledging Ryan's action as their teacher began to speak.

"You're all such wonderful students." She beamed up at them with a smile that could have melted the coldest heart, "I think it's time I allowed you to have some real fun."

"That's every day, miss!" Pete Wentz yelled with the raise of his hand.

"Thank you, Pete, I'm glad I can make an enjoyable experience out of this class for you all." She looked over the small sea of students sat on the stage above her. "I think you'll all like the sound of this next project that I have for you all."

The stage lit up with an excited buzz as the students whispered theories back and forth. Ryan leaned closer to Brendon. "What's your bet?"

Brendon shrugged, "Maybe she's finally allowing snacks onstage."

Ryan snorted softly, quickly covering his mouth and nose with his hand before softly whispering, "Doubt it."

"Come back to me, kids." Miss Mulany called out, waving her arm in the air. The students fell into an anticipated hush. No one wanted to miss her words. "Now, you've all shown me throughout the year how creative you all are. You inspire me everyday."

"Aw, shucks!"

"Shut it, Gaskarth!"

"I really want to see what you've got!" Their teacher continued, "I think it's time for my favorite project; a musical excerpt, completely planned by all of you!" She threw her arms in the direction of the stage, "You'll be split into teams and you'll choose a number from any musical to preform onstage! You get to be in control of everything!"

The students on the stage cheered; Jack Barakat even went as far as to do a summersault before spreading his figure on the ground and holding his arms and legs up in the air.

"Holy shit!" Ryan laughed, squeezing Brendon's hand tightly. "This is going to be awesome!"

Brendon nodded enthusiastically. He loved the idea of putting on small productions. The group part may prove to be a challenge, but otherwise it sounded exciting.

"In front of everyone, Miss Mulany?" Tyler Joseph's voice nervously squeaked above the excitement just loud enough to be heard.

Their teacher nodded. "Just the other drama students at first but, if you're up to it, we could invite others in the school. That would be for extra credit."

"Extra credit in an already easy A class?!" Brendon exclaimed in a whisper so Ryan could hear, "This is the best day of my life."

"What should we do for it?" Ryan whispered turning to Brendon with a gleam in his eye.

Brendon didn't respond to Ryan. He felt like the other boy wouldn't like his response. He instead looked past Ryan, at the other students sitting on the stage. They were all celebrating and plotting in their own ways, but Brendon's eyes landed on one in particular.

Dallon was locked in a kiss with Kenneth Harris towards the back of the group. Brendon's heart tore at the sight, but he couldn't bring himself to look away. It wasn't until a soft touch found its way to his cheek was he finally pulled from his trance like stare.

Ryan smiled sadly at Brendon. His hand just barely touched Brendon's face as he leaned in close. "Hey, you should be celebrating, not crying."

Brendon blinked in confusion. Shit. The blink confirmed Ryan's words as tears trailed down his cheeks. He quickly brought his arm up to swipe at the side of his face that wasn't being held by Ryan's soft touch. He couldn't let anyone else see...

"Here." Ryan offered, quietly swiping Brendon's tears away with his thumb. He leaned in closer still, "Just let me get it."

Brendon locked eyes with the boy just centimeters away from his face. There was a soft, understanding in Ryan's eyes.

Brendon brought his hands up to the side of Ryan's face, pulling it the rest of the distance that separated them and connecting their lips. Ryan's hand that wasn't still caressing Brendon's cheek attached itself to his side. Ryan scooted closer while Brendon maintained his position.

If Dallon wanted to show off that he could kiss again so soon, then Brendon could too...
