the purple haired boy felt like exploding due to his immense nervosity while rehearsing his plan.

he couldn't sit still as he kept on shifting in his seat. his heart pounded quickly while he was waiting for his tutor, his pretend girlfriend, to arrive in the lobby.

fortunately, no one except for him was there. that also meant that no one can interrupt them or, in worst case, witness him getting rejected by his crush.

it was calm, quiet, dead silent in the lobby. it was quite the opposite to how he was feeling.

"hey hyuck!", a familiar voice chimed in, making donghyuck turn into the direction where it came from.

his eyes met hers, resulting in a smile being plastered on his beaming face.

"hi sooyun!", the purple haired boy greeted back, watching her taking a seat next to him.

after a short small talk session, they dived right into studying. sooyun helped hyuck out with maths problems, explaining him everything in detail.

nonetheless, the latter had difficulties paying attention to her explanations as he had only the confession in his mind.

"any other problem you're dealing with?", the blonde girl asked gently, snapping him back to reality.

it was his chance.

"yeah, there is one other problem. let me find it real quick", donghyuck began before looking through his sheets, searching for that one certain note where he had already written down the equation.

he was internally freaking out when he had troubles finding it, nevertheless, he managed to find it in his mess.

"i need your answer for this equation", the purple haired boy added, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible and hoping that she didn't suspect anything.

sooyun nodded, shoving the sheet closer to her and examining the problem.

"seems like a tricky one", the blonde girl hummed before starting to calculate it, writing every step down.

donghyuck gulped nervously, feeling his body tensing up. his heart beat faster with each second passing by. he fidgeted with his fingers under the table as his eyes remained on her, anticipation rising with every moment.

sooyun was highly focused on the equation, having absolutely no clue what awaits her. the purple haired boy observed her precisely, adoring how focused she was and admiring the detemination glinting in her eyes.

a surge of affection spread in his chest, accompanied by creeping nervosity and fear. hyuck was extremely anxious to screw up the confession.

if he admitted his feelings to her, their friendship may be at stake. it was a dangerous risk he took, hoping that it will be worth the gambling.

the blonde girl had reached the last calculating step where it says "i <3 u".

donghyuck immediately scanned her face, trying to read her mind and emotions. her brows furrowed as confusion was spread across her face. until she realised what it meant.

her eyes widenend in shock as her head perked up. she locked eyes with the purple haired boy, being at loss for words. she felt truly off guard. she didn't know how to react as the situation was too overwhelming for her.

donghyuck's heartbeat was as loud and messy as the chaos in his mind. it was too late to back down, there was no avail in turning back.

"sooyun, i need your answer to my equation", hyuck stated softly, his nervosity growing the longer they shared eye contact.

"what exactly do you mean?", sooyun responded quietly, wanting to make sure she read correctly the room.

they didn't break the eye contact even though hyuck wanted to avert her gaze. despite his nervosity and anxiety crawling up in him, he couldn't get his eyes off her - her eyes were as mesmerizing as the first time he had seen them.

sooyun glanced patiently at him, waiting for his explanation. the purple haired boy took in a deep breath before the moment of truth had come.

"i can't pretend to be in love with you anymore because i am already... i've fallen for you, sooyun", hyuck admitted honestly, his heart beating against his ribcage.

"i need your answer to the equation that had troubled me for a while... do you like me back?", he continued, asking in a quiet and nervous voice. "do you want our fake relationship turn into a real one?"

the purple haired boy glanced at her in anticipation, afraid of her answer. surprise and shock was written on her face as she remained quiet, not having given a reply yet. silence settled over the room for a moment which felt like an eternity to him.

donghyuck was scared that it was over with their pretend relationship. he was afraid that their friendship will forever be history judging by her hesitation and shock.

"hyuck...", sooyun said finally, breaking the silence. the purple haired boy had goosebumps at her call, curious and scared of her answer.

"i'm so glad that we can stop pretending", the blonde girl responded as a graceful smile was tugged at her lips. she looked away as her face became all flushed. "i like you too", she whispered shyly, not being able to stare into his eyes.

the purple haired boy jolted in shock as joy and relief washed over his face. he pulled her into a bone crushing hug, beaming happily and grinning from ear to ear.

sooyun was taken aback and glanced at him in surprise. nonetheless, she wrapped her arms around him and cracked a smile.

"you don't know how scared i was to confess...", donghyuck confessed whispering, hearing her giggles in respond.

"you did a great job, hyuck", the blonde girl reassured and pulled away, looking fondly at him. "also, the maths confession was really nerdy of you", she added teasingly, "but it was cute. i liked that a lot."

donghyuck's cheeks were tinted pink at her comment as he gave her a sheepish smile. he was relieved that she liked it. he wanted to make the confession special for someone special.

"you know, as much as i despise maths, i kinda like this equation", the purple haired boy mentioned, wearing a smug grin.

sooyun gasped at his remark. "your maths teacher would be so proud to hear that!", she commented, watching his grin falter as he pretended to gag.

"eww, don't bring her up", the older one responded in disgust, feeling a cold shiver running down his spine.

the blonde girl laughed wholeheartedly at his reaction, finding him hilarious and adorable.

hyuck's heart warmed up at the beautiful sounds of her laugh. he couldn't help but glance at her with a bright smile and lovestruck eyes.
