haewon had to stay longer after school as she was sentenced to detention for a week.

boredom was written on her face as she worked on her over-due assignments. she wasn't keen on doing them but she had no choice.

silence wasn't the only thing being trapped in the classroom. haewon and the two other girls from before were all forced to be in detention and thus, had to be in the same room again.

the senior was sick of them, nonetheless, minded her own business unlike the two juniors who were digging glares into her back.

haewon also felt the occasional burning glances from the teacher who had to watch over them and keep them in check.

"no wonder why chenle dislikes her. mrs kang is really annoying", the girl remarked in her head, spinning swiftly the pen with her fingers.

her eyes shifted to the clock hanging above the door. she felt utterly joyous that only five minutes were left until detention was over.

it wasn't hard to kill the remaining time as haewon spent the last five minutes thinking about jieun.

she recalled the previous incident in her mind, feeling her heart aching when she was reminded of how jieun was cornerned and threatened by her classmates.

haewon felt sorry for her friend for having to deal with those people. jieun didn't deserve this. she was such a sweet person who never meant anyone any harm. why were always the kindest people the victims of negative attacks?

"detention is over for today. you may dismiss now", the teacher announced in an annoyed voice and side-eyed the three girls, "see you tomorrow."

mrs kang left quickly the classroom with the two juniors following her suit. before the girls exited the room, they gave haewon a judgmental look.

nevertheless, the senior couldn't care less. she wasn't very bothered about the two girls, the only thing she cared about was going home now.

haewon stood up and packed her things into her bag, feeling relieved that detention was finally over.

as she threw her bag over her shoulder, a knock on the door sounded. haewon's gaze shifted to the entrance, meeting familiar eyes.

"hi!", jieun greeted sweetly, standing in the doorframe and waving at her.

"hey", haewon couldn't help but smile as soon as she spotted her, "still there, sweetheart?"

the younger girl was taken aback for a moment at the nickname before she shrugged it off. "uh... yeah! i'm glad that i could catch you at the right time", she responded sheepishly, giving her a little smile.

haewon lifted her eyebrow as confusion was written on her face. "why? do you need something from me?", she asked curiously and watched the junior stepping closer to her and placing her bag on the desk next to her.

"give me one moment", jieun requested and opened her bag. the black haired girl pulled out a pink drink and handed it over to her friend, "this is for you."

"huh?", the senior was even more confused but took the beverage, having a closer look at it. her eyes lit up when she recognised it, "that's strawberry milk!"

jieun nodded eagerly, smiling widely. "i asked mark about your favorite drink and he told me that you liked strawberry milk", the younger girl shared chuckling, finding haewon's joy adorable.

"... and i wanted to give you something as compensation since you got into detention on my behalf", she explained and avoided looking into haewon's eyes as guilt was washing over her face, "i'm so sorry for that..."

"aww, jieun", the older girl placed her hand on her shoulder, giving her a gentle pat, "you don't need to be sorry. it's a duty for me to protect and defend my girls."

the junior lifted up her head, staring into her eyes that were filled with warmth and kindness.

jieun couldn't help but admire her for her strong determination and bravery. she was astonished by her personality, seeing her as an inspiration.

she wanted to be like her - to speak freely her mind, to stand up for herself and others and to fight for her values even if she might have to deal with bad consequences.

jieun admired and looked up to the older girl so much.

a soft smile was plastered on haewon's face as they locked eyes with each other. "detention does suck but i wouldn't mind a bit to get into detention as long as it means to stand up for you", the older girl reassured, making jieun blush at her words.

haewon was amused when she noticed her pink cheeks, finding it both entertaining and adorable.

"don't worry about me, okay? worry more about yourself, sweetheart", the senior chuckled and removed her hand from her shoulder.

"but can i still wait for you until you have finished detention and give you strawberry milk afterwards?", jieun requested, glancing at her with the most precious eyes.

haewon couldn't say no to her. how could she when she was staring at her like that? she was totally whipped for her.

"okay, fine", the older girl agreed before wearing a cheeky grin on her face, "under one condition."

"and that is?", the junior inquired curiously, waiting for her response in anticipation.

"you can do that only if you get two of those drinks. one's for you and one's for me so we can drink together", haewon explained nonchalantly even though she was internally freaking out at her idea. "deal?"

"deal", jieun gave in, flashing her a warm smile. the senior mirrored her facial expression, feeling her heart melt once again.

"and remember, if you need someone, don't hesitate to call me, understood?", haewon reminded her seriously, dropping her smile for a moment.

"okay, i got it", the younger girl closed her bag and threw it over her shoulder, ready to leave the classroom.

"good", the senior grinned and ruffled her black hair to tease her, making the shorter one upset.

"hey! stop messing with my hair. it looks bad then!"

"nahhh, it looks perfect. trust me, sweetheart."

"you liar!"
