40.

Jungkook exhales into the cold night, holding a lit cigarette in between his dainty, shivering fingers. Breathing into the cold air of the deep, dark night, his lungs freezing, heart sorry for himself. He brings the slightly warm thing and places it in between his lips, inhaling deeply, holding his breath for a little while before finally, he exhales.

Leaning against the railing of the balcony, Jungkook looks up into the starless night sky, feeling at peace with the empty canvas, rather relating to it rather than hating the fact that there little to none stars twinkling in the dark.

He brings the cigarette to his eyes, inspecting it. His first cigarette since the party at Jimin's. Where he first met everyone properly, god that seems like years ago, but in reality it was only a mere few months ago. Crazy how life just flies past us all and we can do nothing to stop time from speeding past us. Like it was a constant tik tok reminder that we couldn't go at our own pace.

We couldn't discover things in our own time, because time never truly belonged to us in the first place..and even if we try too, well, life always catches up with us in the end.

The blonde boy watches how the ash grows at the end of the dimly lit, burning orange stick. He taps it gently, watching the grey ash light up before it crumbles and falls off, flowing down neatly from his bedroom balcony.

A feeling of emptiness in his heart even though nothing had happened to make him feel this way.

Time was of the essence and yet Jungkook cursed at the lords of the worlds that he couldn't have had just a little bit longer, a little bit more time basking in the happiness that being with Taehyung gave him, before he came crashing down to reality, with nothing to soften the blow.

He hates the fact that sadness was stronger than happiness. Jungkook never liked to think that he was a person that got sad, or rather emotional about losing people. Because you always lose them in the end, people aren't meant to be forever.

But this one hurt goddamn it.

It hurt like everything wrong in Jungkook's years of living was repeatedly stabbing him in the chest over and over again until he bled out dry, to be no longer a living thing, blood pumping through his veins. Just a pained bag of skin with a broken heart.

The thought of losing Taehyung pulled Jeongguk into a trance, a deep dark pit of depression. Something that Jeongguk fought so hardly to get out of, slowly, he was being pulled back in. And it wasn't anyone's fault, but his own. Because the single thought of losing Taehyung made his heart constrict so damn painfully. It made his weak to his knees. It made him want to cry out in so much hurt, pain and denial.

Jungkook didn't know when he allowed Taehyung to become such a big part of his life.

But now the mint haired boy was attached to Jeongguk, clamping onto Jungkook's heart with an iron fist. He didn't know it, but he controlled Jungkook's heart strings, like a puppeteer, or a pied Piper, controlling a town with the melodies of his flute. In this case, the town was Jungkook's mind, body, heart and senses.

The blonde boy sniffles, running a hand through his messy blonde hair as he breathes out softly, eyes fluttering shut as he felt at peace with the soft exhales and inhales, his chest rising up and down.

Jungkook takes one last puff of the cigarette in his fingers, closing his eyes, the bitter taste in his mouth turning ever so sweet. He stubs the thing out on his railing, ending it's flame, the orange glow dimming out completely as he stubs it. He then throws it, the cigarette falling from his hands, crashing through the air until finally it hits the floor with the softest thud known to mankind.

Once more, Jungkook looks up to the night sky, and for no good reason, his eyes tear up, tears twinkling in the darkness as he tries to control himself.

But it's not use, Jungkook is too far gone in his own feelings, trapped in the deafening emotions that brought him such uncomfortableness. A sickly feeling in his stomach. A feeling that made his gut wrench and twist so harshly, like a rope pulling at his neck, rushing his airways, forcing the darkness to fleet upon him.

All Jungkook ever wanted, was to be loved. And to feel love. But the thought of that scared him. He was scared that Taehyung wouldn't allow Jungkook to love him. Because it was all fun and games, until they had to talk about their feelings.

The first drop of snow hits Jungkook's flop of blonde hair, he looks up to the sky. And that's when Jeongguk sees the mounts of snow falling from the sky in big heaps. He looks at the snow falling and melting around him, letting out a little sigh, Jungkook turns around, ready to step back inside of his room, ready to fall asleep for the night.

What he wasn't ready for was tomorrow. He had decided to speak to Taehyung about his feelings, he wasn't ready to hear what Taehyung had to say.

Tears spring to Jungkook's eyes once more, and he can't do anything to stop it, so he just let's them roll down his flushed face in the night.

"Jungkook!"

Jungkook freezes, hearing the familiar deep voice call out his name in the dead of the night.

"Jungkook!"

The voice calls out once more.

Taehyung?

Wiping his tears, Jungkook turns around, peering over the railing to see the familiar mint haired boy, panting. He smiles brightly when he sees Jungkook. "Taehyung? What are you doing here?" Jungkook asks, gripping the railing tightly.

Taehyung grins, "it's snowing baby!" He shouts out, looking up to the sky before he looks back at Jungkook.

Jungkook smiles, "Taehyung, you came all the way here to tell me that?" He says, running a hand through his blonde hair. Taehyung nods, "we never got a snowy Christmas did we? Climate change for you! So let's spend a snowy tomorrow's eve together!" Taehyung shouts up.

The blonde boy hushes Taehyung, "Taehyung shhh, my neighbours are going to be so pissed at me," Jungkook chuckles, "not to mention, my sister is going to be so confused," he adds with a smile, still looking directly at Taehyung.

Taehyung stretches his arms outwards, "so? Come down here Jungkook! Let's dance in the snow!" He yells, his grin couldn't have been bigger. Jungkook doesn't say anything, but watches how Taehyung opens his mouth trying to taste the falling snow on his tongue. Jungkook shakes his head at Taehyung's childish behaviour, cold fingers tingling.

"I'm not coming down there Taehyung," Jungkook says, pulling his hoodie strings. Taehyung's arms flop to his side and he frowns, giving Jungkook puppy dog eyes, which Jeongguk could clearly see from the orange lamppost light shining down on Taehyung. "And that look isn't going to work on me too! I've grown resistant to it!"

Taehyung chuckles loudly, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair!" Jungkook laughs, "so now you're choosing to come up here? Make up your mind Taehyung." Shaking his head, Taehyung smiles, "no, so I can pull you down here! Come on baby, don't leave me standing in the cold alone. Come be cold with me!"

Jungkook watches Taehyung with fond eyes, loving the way Taehyung looked. Standing there. In the snow. White, precious and unique snowflakes resting in his soft, mint hair, tan skin a little orange because of the light, pearly smile making Jungkook's heart flutter and skip a beat every now and then.

How could Jungkook ever say no to Taehyung?

"Seriously Taehyung, go home," Jungkook says, longing it out. Taehyung scoffs, looking to the side a little bit, "if you truly wanted me to go home, you would've walked back into your room. But here you are, standing on your balcony, whether you like it or not, you're cold my little bunny. So come on down, be cold with me. Because who the fuck likes to be cold all alone," Taehyung says, giving a little wink to Jungkook.

My little bunny. Taehyung's little bunny.

"You really want me to come out there?" Jungkook asks, peering down. Taehyung nods almost straight away, "of course I do! Otherwise I wouldn't be standing here right now!" Taehyung shouts upwards. Jungkook shakes his head, "fine! Give me a minute you idiot, you must be freezing," Jungkook shouts down, before finally, he walks into his room.

Jungkook rushes around, pulling on some tracksuits before grabbing a scarf. Before he runs out of his room, he looks himself in the mirror, eyes puffy, nose red and lips swollen. He gives himself a small smile before grabbing his keys, running down the stairs and slipping on his shoes before running out into the street.

The blonde boy runs to Taehyung, leaping onto the mint haired boy, pressing his lips against Taehyung's. Taehyung grunts a little, but nonetheless, he holds his boy in his arms tightly, one hand on Jungkook's nape, the other on his waist. He squeezes Jungkook's waist a little, wondering what's gotten into Jungkook.

Jungkook wraps his arms around Taehyung, tiptoeing slightly, to get better access, moving his lips gently, tilting his head to the side a little bit, loving the way Taehyung's warmth just gave him immediate comfort in the cold of the snowy night.

He felt all of his worries slipping away, melting into a puddle, just like the myriads of snowflakes falling and melting on the concrete floor.

Jungkook pulls away, panting a little as he rests his forehead against Taehyung's, chest rising and falling heavily.

"Baby? What's wrong?" Taehyung asks, holding Jungkook's jaw ever so gently. He notices the blonde boy's appearance, how his lips trembled, but not from the cold, eyes low, like he was trying to hide from Taehyung. Jungkook looks away, but it's not for long because Taehyung, using his finger, brings Jungkook closer to him, and he inspects the boy with worry.

"Jungkook?" Taehyung calls out, like Jungkook wasn't standing right in front of him. The blonde boy looks up to Taehyung, meeting his eyes.

With snow falling around them, Jungkook's eyes tear up, small droplets falling from his eyes as he feels his heartbeat race to the seven heavens and back. Taehyung's eyes fill with worry at the sight of his baby crying. Holding Jungkook's face in close Taehyung speaks gently, "shh, baby it's okay, don't cry," he says, kissing Jungkook's tears away.

The worry and care that Taehyung was showing Jungkook made the boy want to cry out even more. Jungkook doesn't say anything but shakes his head, trying to pull away from Taehyung but Taehyung doesn't let him, he doesn't let go of Jungkook, and instead, holds the boy even closer and even tighter than before, but his touch remains as gentle as ever.

Jungkook lets out a broken sob, his chest constricting as the tears continue to fall, he opens his mouth to say something, but nothing falls out as he looks up to Taehyung, eyes blurry with tears that continued to pool up and fall, streaming down his cheeks.

"What are you trying to tell me baby?" Taehyung asks gently, wiping Jungkook's tears away, often pressing a gentle kiss to his cheeks, nose and forehead, his kisses calming Jungkook down just a little bit. Jungkook sighs, tiptoeing once again to give Taehyung one more heart shattering kiss.

Trying his best to pour out all of his emotions in one act, the hunger, the passion and most importantly the love that Jungkook felt for Taehyung. Jungkook wanted to show Taehyung that he found love in Taehyung's heart, and now he wanted Taehyung's heart as his own, a heart for a heart, because Taehyung already had Jungkook's.

Jungkook holds Taehyung's face, looking deep into the mint haired boy's eyes, lips a little red, eyes shining and twinkling. The snow falling around them, only them standing in the cold night, shivering against each other, Jungkook smiles, giving Taehyung the saddest smile, "I love you Kim Taehyung."
