Chapter 9

Louis' POV

I loved Wednesdays. I had the first two periods off, which didn't happen any other day. I'd usually sleep til 10:45, when the ringing of the bell that indicated the end of second period would wake me up. Sadly, it didn't happen as often anymore, because some of the guys from my class liked to hang out early in the morning. And somehow, I got sucked into their hangouts.

We were sitting at a wooden table in the school yard, drinking Coke. Everyone was chatting except me, I was still half asleep as it was only 9 in the morning.

"How are things going with Lorena?" One of the guys, Oliver I think, asked and I snapped my head up, looking at him.

"Huh?" I said, dumbfounded, not really expecting his question. Usually I'd just tell them if I'd nailed someone, but we would never talk about the girl.

"You seem... Pretty close," He said, bringing the plastic cup up to his mouth. I shifted in my seat, not really knowing what to say.

"She's... She's not an easy one. I have to make her trust me," I said, shrugging. It was the truth after all.

Oliver huffed. "And you're still acting?"

"Of course."

"Doesn't seem like that, mate."

I was taken aback by his statement. It doesn't look like an act? What the hell does it look like then?

"What do you mean?" I asked as I shook my head, frowning at him.

"Nothing, just... You've never worked so hard for a girl. I mean, it's not like it's been long, only like a week or so... But you'd usually give up after two days. Hell, after two hours even!" Oliver chuckled.

I looked at my cup on the table in front of me. Yeah, what he said was true, I wouldn't put much effort into getting a girl. Not at all, actually. As soon as I'd see she likes attention and to play hard to get, I'd give up. I don't need some bitch telling around Louis Tomlinson is chasing her.

But with Lorena... I don't know, it was different. I know my friends had dared me to go after her, but we had this unofficial rule; if the girl is being a bitch, forget about her. That's all. I couldn't say Lorena was being a bitch, but I should have given up by now. Why hadn't I? Why was she still the only girl on my mind?

"I think someone's got a crush here, and it ain't me," Another friend of mine, Leo said laughing, and the others laughed along.

I frowned at him. "Fuck you." I shook my head, chuckling as I did. Me, having a crush... I hadn't had a crush since fourth grade, which was about the same time I stopped using the word "crush".

"Aw, don't worry Lou, there's a first time for everything," Leo said and I laughed in disbelief. Why did he suddenly turn into a 40 year old woman with five kids?

"Hey, speaking of first times, and I'm serious 'bout this one," Rhys, the only blond guy at the table, said and sat up in his chair before continuing.

"What if Lorena's never..." He trailed off and looked among us. As soon as I realized what he had meant, I huffed.

"Of course she has," I said bluntly as I sipped a bit of my coke. He surprised me as he frowned at me.

"How do you know? You've never gotten into her pants," Rhys said and the others laughed, and I just started nodding sarcastically.

"Seriously though, why do you think so?" He asked again, leaning on the table and I shrugged.

"I just do. I mean, have you seen her? She's absolutely beautiful, who wouldn't tap that?" I said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world, because to me it was. Surprisingly, the guys didn't seem to think so, as they all widened their eyes at me.

"Louis," Leo said dramatically. "You said beautiful."

I looked at him, waiting for him to continue but he didn't. "So?" I shook my head at him.

"You didn't say hot, you said... Beautiful."

That's when I realized what he was talking about. These guys have never heard me call a girl beautiful, for as long as they've known me, which is about two years. But then again, I don't really remember the last time I said a girl was beautiful, only hot. That's the only adjective I'd ever use to describe a girl, and the guys were used to it.

But now I'd said Lorena's beautiful, and I was almost completely sure the guys wouldn't get off my back for the next two years of university because of that.

"Duuuude," Zach, my roommate, held the word out and laughed at the end.

"What?" I exclaimed, feeling a little anxious about the whole situation with Lorena.

"There's nothing bad about liking a girl, you know," Leo said again, turning into a 40 year old mother of five again. "It's quite nice, actually."

"And she looks like she could be a good girlfriend so that's a plus," Zach added, shrugging. Okay. Woah. This had gone too far.

"Look, guys," I said, sitting up straight. "I don't like Lorena. You know why I'm always hanging around her."

"What about our two days rule, Lou?" Rhys asked. "You've always stuck to it, why stop now? Is Lorena too beautiful for it?" He said, emphasizing the word beautiful and made the other three laugh. I rolled my eyes, knowing it had begun.

I didn't answer his question, and the guys thought I was pissed off so they dropped the topic. But I wasn't, I didn't answer because I couldn't. I didn't know the answer. Why hadn't I stuck to the rule? I don't know. Why am I trying so hard to get Lorena? I don't know. But one thing I knew for sure; I did not like her. At all. Not one bit.

As I entered amphitheater 72, I felt my heart rate increase at the thought of seeing Lorena again, and kissing her again. Until now, I always acted being excited about kissing her, just to put on a show for the girl. But after this morning, when the guys confused my brain with their nonsense, I was actually feeling genuinely excited about doing that.

I scanned the room, looking for the short brunette. I heard a few "Hi/Hey Louis'", but I didn't pay attention as I eventually spotted Lorena sitting at the very front of the room. Her back was turned to me as I walked down the aisle and sat behind her.

"Hey beautiful," I said in her ear, leaning over the table. Lorena turned around and so did the girl next to her. I was expecting to see Caitlyn, but it was a girl I didn't know, and she was frowning at me.

"Hi Louis," Lorena said and pulled me out of my thoughts. I looked at her smiling face as she brushed some of her hair out of her face so she could have a better look at me.

"Did you hear what he just said?" I ignored the girl next to Lorena as she talked to her other friend.

"Uh, what's up?" I asked, looking at the book she was holding.

"Nothing really, I found out I've passed two exams this morning," She smiled at me and I couldn't help but smile back.

"That's great love," I said genuinely, just before one of the other two girls spoke loudly again.

"Seriously? Beautiful?" A girl with ginger hair said and I sighed, annoyed.

"Could we go sit somewhere else?" I asked quietly and Lorena glanced at the two girls near her. I knew she knew why I didn't want to sit there anymore.

"Sure," She said and stood up, straightening her skin-tight blouse.

"Louis?" She called and I looked up at her. She was frowning at me and that's when I realized I had been staring, and that she had caught me.

"Did you see that?" One of the girls I wanted to be as far as possible from said. "He was totally staring at her!" She added and the other one frantically nodded.

I clenched my jaw. "Let's go," I muttered as I stood up, and pulled Lorena to the very back of the room, near the door. I pulled her down next to me, before sliding in my chair so the two girls in the front wouldn't see me.

"What are you doing?" Lorena asked me, chuckling, and I looked up at her. She was smiling at me, grinning actually, and I couldn't help but pull her by the back of her neck down to me so I could kiss her. When I did, I felt weirdly fulfilled; and when she kissed me back, her hand on my cheek, that feeling only got stronger.

"I really hope the two of you in the back are practicing for your scene," I heard our professor say sternly, and while Lorena started pulling away from me, I only kept leaning into her, I didn't want to stop kissing her. I finally let her part our lips when I was about to fall on the floor.

"Sorry, Miss Dawson," Lorena said and cleared her throat, and I looked at her as I sat up. She was looking at her lap, where her fidgeting fingers were.

"I hate you so much right now," She muttered, the amusement in her voice very audible. I chuckled, pulling a strand of her hair behind her ear so I could look at her. She was still blushing.

"I don't think you do, love," I said with a smirk and she turned her head to me, glaring at me playfully.

"I'm pretty sure I do." Lorena nodded and from the corner of my eye I noticed Dawson turn around so her back was facing us, and that gave me the opportunity to lean in and kiss Lorena again. She was a bit hesitant about kissing me back now, but as soon as my hand landed on her thigh, she relaxed and slowly kissed me back.

I've never really kissed a girl before like this, slowly and even romantic on some level. But for some reason, I liked it; it wasn't rough and needy, it was relaxed and we could both take our time and actually enjoy our actions.

When we pulled apart, I stayed close to Lorena's face, our foreheads touching.

"Nah," I responded to her earlier statement. "You love me."

She breathed out a smile. "Don't flatter yourself, Tommo." She lightly slapped my cheek and stood up. When I looked around, I realized it was time for her to do her scene with Evan.

I sat back in my seat and and watched her move on the stage. She was a clumsy girl, yet she could be so graceful when the situation asked for it. I also loved her body; she was so slim and my arms fit perfectly around her waist. Then there was her hair, and eyes. I've never been a fan of dark haired girls with dark eyes, but I wouldn't want Lorena to look any different from the way she looked in that very moment; she was beautiful. There was no other word to describe her, not even hot. She had a killer body, of course, it's one of the reasons I accepted to do the dare the guys had given me. But I couldn't just say she's hot, it's too plain for her. And Lorena's everything but plain.

"Hey, was I good?" She chirped, pulling me out of my day dream as she sat next to me again.

"Huh? Oh, uh... Yeah, you've finally got all your lines right." I smiled at her and she smiled back, before turning her attention to the stage, watching the others. I couldn't help but glance at her every once in awhile, impatiently awaiting for our names to be called so I could kiss her one more goddamn time. And when I finally did I felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest, something it never did when I kissed other girls. I had yet to find out what was so special about Lorena.

"I see you two have practiced a lot," Dawson commented as Lorena and I kissed, and I couldn't help but chuckle into our kiss. Lorena breathed out through her nose, not being able to laugh properly as I didn't let her pull away from me, just yet.

"Just remember to thank me when you get together, if you're not already," Dawson commented again, and this time made the whole class laugh, probably because they knew what I was like with girls. Lorena and I finally pulled away from each other and, while she was laughing, I had a forced smile on my face. Getting together with her, it didn't seem exactly 100% impossible in that very moment, and that's what scared me the most.

The class was finally dismissed about 5 minutes later, and Lorena went her own way without even saying goodbye, as always. Did she do that with everyone?

"Lorena!" I shouted, kind of whiney, and she turned around, as if expecting me.

"Do you have class now?" I asked, hoping she didn't, even though I did. I didn't have a problem with skipping, but the fact that I, a straight A student, would skip a class because of a girl that I hadn't even slept with yet, was kind of worrying.

"I do, Louis," She said. "I have the last two periods off."

"Oh," Was all I said before looking at my feet.

"Well, I guess I'll see you tomorrow, then." I smiled at her and she nodded, also smiling, and started walking backwards before turning around and going her way.

"Hey, Lori?" I called hesitanty, and she turned around, her eyebrows raised at me.

"Yeah?" She asked, her eyebrows furrowing when I said nothing for a few seconds. I slowly took a step forward, and then, more determined, walked over to her and kissed her in the middle of the hallway, with at least 30 people in it. She was shocked as she kissed me back, I could tell, but still put her hands on my chest as I had mine on her neck.

This was also something new; I've never kissed a girl in a public place before, or did anything even remotely similar, except talking. When I pulled away from Lorena, the surprise on her face was still obvious, but she quickly cleared her throat and straightened her shirt.

"Bye, Louis," She said and grinned shortly after. I couldn't help but smile back, her smile was contagious. I watched her walk away, her hair fluttering in the wind as she exited the building. When she left my sight completely, I sighed and was brought back into the real world. At some points, just like this one, I wished that I was more like Devon; I wished that I could give a girl what she needed from a guy, that I could make her happy. I was nothing like that in reality, and for some reason, I thanked God for it.
