Chapter 7
Louis' POV
I huffed in frustration as I watched Lorena and Caitlyn leave the club. This could have been my night! I could have finally gotten Lorena into my bed and prove to my friends that I really could have any girl I wanted. And then this happens.
I turned around, anger boiling inside me, and searched for Devon. How could he fuck up our plan like this? We agreed he'd pretend to be interested in Caitlyn so I could have some time with Lorena, because I know she would never go out with me alone. And he tells Caitlyn he has a girlfriend?
I finally found him at the bar, sitting with him head bowed down, looking at the bottle of beer in his hands.
"What the fuck?" I shouted, standing in front of him. He looked up at me and shrugged.
"I couldn't do it," He said looking at me, his face blank.
"Couldn't do what? Entertain the bitch?" I snapped, even angrier with his excuse.
Devon furrowed his eyebrows. "Don't talk about her like that," He snapped back at me and I was literally taken aback.
"I'm not like you, Lou. I can't play with girls like that, I don't have it in me." He shook his head and brought the green bottle to his mouth, taking a sip.
"Yeah, but couldn't you at least pretend to be interested in her? Did you have to tell her you have a girlfriend? You don't even have one!" I shouted, not wanting to believe my plan hadn't worked.
"I didn't want to lead her on. She's a great girl, she doesn't deserve to be played," Devon explained and I felt as if I were talking to my dad.
I gaped at him for a few seconds, the fact that our plan had failed slowly sinking in. I sighed and slowly sat next to him, taking my beer from earlier and emptying half of the bottle in two sips.
I couldn't believe it, I just couldn't. It was the perfect plan. I'd make Lorena believe I'm not the womanizer that I am, then maybe get her drunk, offer to take her to her dorm and have my way with her there. It would have gone so smoothly if I had picked the right person to help me.
"You're an idiot, Dev." I shook my head, staring into space.
Devon stood up and dropped 10 pounds on the bar. "Yeah, well, maybe you should be more like me. That way you might not be as bitter as you are now," He said with a forced smile on his face, and left me at the bar.
I huffed, what he had just said was just dumb. I should be more like him? What, have long term relationships and fall in love with a girl, get married and only have sex with her for the rest of my life? None of the above sounded appealing to me. I just wanted Lorena so I could prove something. And if that meant that I had to act like I was genuinely interested in her in a romantic way, then so be it.
*******
Lorena's POV
I did feel bad about leaving like that last night, for leaving Louis like that. However, I was also grateful, because I would have made a big mistake if Caitlyn hadn't dragged me out of the club. I should also thank Devon for mentioning he has a girlfriend in the perfect moment.
I sighed, it was Monday and I was in my first period of the day, Renaissance Literature. It was the most boring subject of all, a lot like History of Magic in Hogwarts. You get the idea.
The good parts of the day were the fact that I didn't have third and fourth period, and that I wouldn't get to see Louis. After last night, I just felt weird about seeing him. It would be too awkward.
After second period I decided to spend my free ones in the dorm with Caitlyn, since we both chose German over French. Which didn't really turn out to be a good idea.
After we left the club last night, she couldn't stop complaining about Devon, asking me how could he do such a thing to her, and his girlfriend. I was soon fed up with her shit.
"For God's sake, woman, if it's bothering you so much, go talk to him!" I exclaimed, hitting my bed with the book I was reading in frustration.
Caitlyn looked at me from her position on the floor, her eyes wide.
"You think I should?" She asked quietly.
"Yes!" I said, desperation audible in my voice. "Talk to him, yell at him, hell, have a threesome with him and his girlfriend! Just shut. Up!"
Caitlyn had the same look in her eyes as she stared at me for a few seconds. Then she nodded and stood up.
"You're right," She muttered and I fell down onto my pillow; finally. Fucking finally. After an hour of hell, she was finally going to leave.
"I'll go talk to him. You're coming with me," Caitlyn said and made me sit up again in shock.
"What?! No!" I shouted. There was no way in hell I'd go with her.
"Come on, it was your idea!" Cait said, putting on some make up. "I don't even know what to say to him!"
"Just... Ask him why didn't he tell you about having a girlfriend, you don't need me for that!" I said, desperation finding its way back into my voice.
"No," She said firmly. "You're coming with me."
"What if he has class?" I raised my eyebrows. Ha. Get out of this one, Cait, I dare you.
She slowly turned around. "You know when I like a guy I kind of... I don't know... Stalk him?" She said with a half sorry and half smiling face.
When I rolled my eyes, knowing what she meant, she said she knew he didn't have next two periods as well.
"Besides, third period hasn't begun yet," She shrugged smugly, smiling at herself in the mirror.
I sighed, not really seeing how I could get out of the situation now. "Haven't I done enough for you?"
"Yes, and this is the last time, I promise," Caitlyn said, for the millionth time since we've met, if I may add.
I sighed, frustrated. "I guess it could be more interesting than this book," I muttered and knew Cait had heard me, due to the wide grin appearing on her face.
"Excellent," She beamed at me. "Come on, let's go."
*******
Louis' POV
"No! I'm not doing that!"
"Please, for fuck's sake!"
"No, leave me alone already!"
I sighed in frustration and ran a hand through my hair. I was talking to Devon- no, correction. I was trying to talk Devon into helping me again. This time, he'd make up a story for Caitlyn and we'd go on a double date again.
But the fucking asshole didn't want to do it.
"Come on, I don't know whom else to ask! I don't know whom else Caitlyn likes!" I said, desperate written all over my face.
"Well then find someone. Leave me out of it. I'm done helping you," Devon said and continued to throw the basketball into the hoop.
We were on the school's field, and I had just accepted the fact that I was going to skip my third period because of the dipshit in front of me.
"Devon, come on," I said, a bit whiney. "Don't you think she's hot?"
To my surprise, he stopped throwing the goddamn ball and smiled a little.
"You know, I do find her cute," He smiled at me wider. I stared at him in disbelief. Cute? He found her cute? More importantly, he uses the word cute in a serious manner? I shook my head, quickly brushing off the unnecessary thoughts.
"Well, alright," I sighed. "You find her... Cute. Wouldn't you like to see her again?" I said, praying to every God I know of.
Devon narrowed his eyes, then let out a small chuckle.
"I never thought of it that way," He said and looked at the ground. "But now that we're talking about it... I-"
Devon was cut off by someone shouting his name behind us. When I turned around, sure enough, Caitlyn was pulling Lorena toward us.
"I don't want to deal with him," Lorena hissed, and I knew she was talking about me. Wow. Thanks.
"Zip it," Caitlyn snapped at her. She's a fierce one.
They both came near us, and that's when Caitlyn stopped pulling Lorena and left her near me. I pulled on a fake smile, which wasn't hard at all; I was the best student when it came to acting, and no one could deny it.
"Hi babe," I grinned at the shorter brunette in front of me.
"Hi Louis." She gave me a blank smile and crossed her arms.
"What's up?" I put my hands in my pockets, not really interested in her answer.
"Nothing, we have the next two periods off," She said, a smile hinting on her lips as she did.
"That's good."
"You too?"
"Nah, I'm skipping," I said casually. Lorena raised her eyebrows at me, a smirk playing on her lips now.
"Really? Louis Tomlinson, skipping class?" She said, fake shocked and put a hand on her chest. My eyes betrayed me as I looked down at where her hand is for a little too long.
"Yeah," I said, quickly covering up my gaze by looking at the ground. "Some subjects are just boring."
Lorena looked as if she was thinking and then nodded, smiling.
"Sorry about last night," She blurted out after a few moments of silence.
I frowned at her. "It's not your fault." I shrugged and she nodded stiffly.
"Well, yeah, but... It was kind of rude." She was looking at the ground. How cute.
I shook my head, a smile playing on my lips.
"Don't worry about it, love, it's alright. We'll repeat the date if you want to make it up to me," I teased, knowing she'd probably look down again and blush.
And she did. "Nah, there's no need for that. I told you I only did it for Caitlyn," She said, looking up at me.
"Yeah, but this time you won't have to." I shrugged, trying to talk her into a date with just me if things don't work out with Caitlyn and Devon.
"No, Louis-" She started, but was cut off by someone calling her. We turned to Caitlyn and Devon, to see they were approaching us.
"We... Worked things out. And we're going out again." She gave Lorena a weird look and the girl next to me just shrugged. I suppose they have a secret, telepathic language?
"That's great guys," Lorena said, with a forced smile on her face. I could tell by just glancing at her.
"And... Do you two wanna go with us?" Caitlyn asked unsure, and in that very moment I knew the Gods were on my side.
"No, really, I-"
"We'd love to," I grinned, cutting Lorena off before she could decide not to go.
She looked at me with an unreadable facial expression, and then let out a sigh.
"Fine," She mumbled and I swear my smile couldn't get any bigger.
"Great!" Devon smiled. "Is Friday okay?" We all nodded.
"It's settled then," Caitlyn said with a smug smile that reminded me of myself so much it was creepy.
"We'll be going back to our dorm, alright guys?" She added and Devon and I nodded. She came to me and I gave her a half-hug, while Lorena went off without saying goodbye to me.
"Lori, baby?" I called after Caitlyn dropped her arms from around me. Lorena turned around and started fidgeting her fingers.
"Yeah?" She replied, her voice unsure. I walked over to her and wrapped my arms around her shoulders, giving her a full hug.
We stood like that for a few seconds before she decided to hug me back. I smiled into her hair; I loved how she was growing closer to me, it helped my plan a lot.
"I'll see you," I mumbled into her hair and felt her nod. When we pulled apart she was smiling at me; another good sign.
"Bye, Louis," She said and before she completely left my arms I caught her off guard, swiftly lowering my head down so my face was in level with hers, and gave her a peck on the lips.
When I pulled away, she was staring at me wide eyed and it made me laugh.
"Relax love," I said, still smiling. "You'll get used to it."
She blinked, and blushed at my comment, realizing what I was talking about.
"Bye Louis," She repeated, fairly quieter this time, and stared at the ground as she walked away.
"Did he just kiss you?" I heard Caitlyn say and it made me smirk. Yeah, I did. And it was only the beginning.
"What did you tell her?" I asked Devon, who continued shooting the ball through the hoop. He stopped in order to answer me.
"That I didn't really have a girlfriend, but that I had just gotten out of a long relationship and wasn't ready to start seeing other people... And that I also wanted to explore my options with her. It took so much convincing, I don't even want to talk about it." He shook his head and continued practicing.
I grinned smugly, my plan hasn't completely failed; it was just going to have a reprise.
And I was going to make sure it works this time.
