Lorena's POV

"Last offer." Caitlyn raised her eyes at me, making me want to punch her.

"No, thank you," I said through gritted teeth, trying to control my hair without wasting time on brushing it. I really was one lazy ass.

"But this is a date!" Caitlyn whined. "You need to look special for lover boy."

I huffed; I wasn't even trying to convince her that I don't like Louis anymore. I hadn't admitted it to her, but it was obvious, and she knew it too. Besides, if I ever said the actual words, I don't think she'd ever let me forget about it.

"It's nothing special, we're just going out for a couple of hours," I muttered for the fifth time, knowing she wouldn't really give up.

"It's still a date!" She cried out.

"It's not really that important!" Except for the fact that he's probably going to ask me to be his girlfriend and I will most definitely answer with yes, I added in my mind.

"Alright, well... Good luck!" Caitlyn finally gave me a genuine smile, not commenting my so called outfit; white skinny jeans, a black Kiss t-shirt and black Vans. In her world, that was something homeless people would wear. And if I may add, the homeless in her world must be very happy.

"Thanks. I'm actually nervous!" I bounced a couple of times, thinking Caitlyn would join me as I fangirled. To my surprise though, she only narrowed her eyes at me.

"You're nervous?" She almost spat. "Why are you nervous, what is going to happen?"

Oops.

"Um, nothing, I'm just... Nervous, you know!" I made weird gestures in the air, trying not to be suspicious, but everyone knew Caitlyn has a sixth sense; she could tell whether someone was lying or speaking the truth, whenever, wherever. Most of the times I hated her for that, just like now.

"Bullshit." She shook her head. "Now if you appreciate your life, you're gonna tell me what's going on."

I sighed; I still didn't want to tell her about the purpose of this date, and I wasn't planning to either. "I'll tell you when I come back, yeah?" I smiled optimistically, but Caitlyn widened her eyes and stopped me from walking out of the room.

"No, no, no, I'm gonna spend the night at Devon's! You have to tell me now!" She said with a pleading look on her face. Uh oh, here come the puppy eyes...

"No." I said firmly. "I am going to tell you after the date. Deal with it." I added the last part as I noticed her open her mouth to say something, but just pressed her lips together in an angry line.

"Bye!" I said cheerily, and left before she could say anything. Jesus, the nerves I had for that girl. It's amazing I wasn't put in an asylum because of her.

The relief I was feeling because of being away from Caitlyn, was quickly replaced by actual anxiety as I walked down the hallway, thinking about everything that could happen on this date. Not so much of where Louis would take me or anything, but what he would do. Would he ask me straight away? Would he wait until the end, just to make me more anxious? Ugh, I don't know if it was him that was frustrating me without even being there, or was I doing it to myself. Either way, I felt like I'd need aspirin just to get through the date.

Before I knew it, I was walking down the last staircase, the one that led me out of the building. I don't even know why I felt like it was such a big deal. I mean, it's just a date. Yes, I'm pretty sure he's going to ask me to be his girlfriend, but what's the big deal there? I was just going to be Louis' girlfriend. Louis Tomlinson's girlfriend.

Louis Tomlinson's girlfriend.

Every word in that sentence has a gigantic meaning. I guess I should have just accepted the fact that I was going to be one nervous wreck on this date.

It was slightly windy when I stepped out, which caused me to narrow my eyes as I looked around, searching for Louis. It took me a few seconds to notice he was just coming out of the building next to the one I walked out of, and I had to hold back a smile when I noticed we were wearing the absolute same outfit; white skinny jeans, a Kiss t-shirt from the same concert, and black Vans. This should be fun.

"Did we agree to do this, or...?" Louis questioned with a grin, obviously noticing we had the same clothes on as he walked toward me. It was then that I noticed he was also carrying a medium sized box in his hand.

"What's that?" I asked, kind of ignoring his question. Louis looked down, and then back up at me. "Um, it's Charlotte's dress. I thought I'd mail it to Doncaster today, since her birthday is on Saturday." He smiled, and so did I.

"That's great, did you put a note inside?" I asked, tucking a strand of my hair behind my ear as we started walking, and Louis nodded. "You should call her for her birthday. Or Skype her." I grinned, but he only furrowed his eyebrows.

"You think?" He frowned at me, and I gave him a firm nod. "Yeah, she'll be really surprised. And happy," I said slowly, still smiling. My smile widened as Louis nodded too. "Yeah, you're right... You should be there too."

I almost stopped walking at his request. "M-Me? Why?"

"Well, I... In the note, I wrote it's from the both of us." Well. I was not expecting that.

"Are you serious?" I looked at him in disbelief, and Louis only nodded. "What did you write, from Louis and Lorena, this random girl you've never met before in your life?"

"First of all," Louis started, almost not letting me finish my sentence. "I said Lorena and Louis." I laughed at the information. What a gentleman?

"Second of all, you're not random. And third..." There was a hesitating look in his eyes as he made a pause before speaking again. Oh no, Louis, what have you done?!

"I kind of wrote that you're my girlfriend," He said, almost too quickly and quietly for me to hear. Unfortunately for him though, I caught his words, and widened my eyes; I just... What?!

"You what?" I exclaimed, as if he'd just told me he kicked a puppy. "I wrote down that... The gift is from me and my girlfriend."

"Are you fucking kidding me?" I might have come off as angry, but I really wasn't. I was just surprised. Beyond surprised.

"Well, you are going to be before Saturday anyway, so what's the big deal?" Louis raised his eyebrows at me, like he knew I would be left speechless, which is exactly what happened; I couldn't do anything but stare at him with my lips parted, trying to think of something to say, but nothing came out. His bluntness never really failed to surprise me, or in this case, shock me.

"Um..." I stuttered, and Louis smirked; he knew exactly what effect his words had on me, and soon turned his head to look in front of himself, which I was very thankful for; I was probably as red as a tomato. He never really made me blush, I usually laughed or hit his arm, but when he did... It was unmerciful, just like now.

"We have a deal?" Louis pulled me out of my thoughts, and I noticed he was offering me his hand. "Um, okay." I breathed out a laugh and slowly shook his hand. I'd just made a deal to be his girlfriend before Saturday, and talk to his sister on her birthday. God, help us all.

*******

"Come on..." I said quietly. "Come on!"

But Louis kept shaking his head. "No, babe we have to study for next week, alright? I'm sorry," He said, the last part quietly.

I huffed. "It's only 8 in the evening, I don't think either of us is going to study now." I slowly took a few steps forward, until I had my arms wrapped around his waist, and my body against his. I grinned when I noticed the look on his face; he was tempted. Very tempted.

"W-What if you throw me out again, like last time?" He raised his eyebrows at me and nodded a couple of times, obviously happy with the idea he'd come up with. I glared at him and shook my head. "I am really not going to do that." Each and every word of mine was clear and even emphasized, as I tried to convince him that I wouldn't throw him out of my dorm for the second time.

Louis looked around, first at the hallway, and then the dorm I shared with Caitlyn, since I already had the door opened. We were just standing there at the door frame, probably looking like a pair of idiots.

"What if we fall asleep though? We both have class tomo-"

"We won't!" I whined. "We'll... Do something not to doze off."

Just as I'd expected, Louis cocked an eyebrow at me. "Not that," I said quickly, making him laugh a little. "I meant like... Talking or something."

"Alright," He said after a few seconds. "What would we talk about?" God, I hated how he loved getting on my nerves.

"Just get inside, will you?" I pulled his laughing self toward me, and finally closed the door a couple of seconds later.

"Relax, fireball." He pinched my cheek, but I only batted his hand away.

"Don't call me that," I mumbled, and went to sit on my bed. Though as soon as I did, I noticed just how tired I was. It was probably because we literally sat in that coffee shop for an hour and a half straight, and I just needed to stretch my legs.

I sighed and pulled myself up in my bed so I could lie down, and groaned as I did. It was officially the best decision I'd ever made in my life.

Louis walked toward me, and while I expected him to sit next to me or something, he just leaned down and kissed my forehead. "You get some sleep. I'll see you tomorrow."

"Wait!" I abruptly sat up and gripped his wrist; I still didn't want him to leave. Not only because he still hadn't asked me, also because... Well, I just didn't want him to go.

"Come on," I almost whispered. "Don't be a dick."

Louis laughed at my request, and decided to sit down. "Alright," He said through a sigh. "You said you want to talk, so... Seriously, what do you want to talk about?"

The first thing I did was pull him down so he was lying next to me, and then pulled myself up so I was lying on his chest, my new favourite pillow. "I don't know, ask me something," I said, not really caring about what he was going to say.

"Okay," Louis said slowly. "Um... How many ex boyfriends do you have?"

My eyes fluttered open. So there's another question that's going on the 'Unexpected' list of questions.

"Um, three," I said quietly, looking in front of myself, until I heard Louis chuckle, which made me look up at him with a frown. "What?" I frowned at him.

"Well, nothing, I just thought... You look like a girl that guys don't ever leave alone."

I blinked at him, and laid my head back on his chest. "I-I don't just date anyone."

"That's good," Louis said quickly, making me smile a little. "So, um... What were your exes like?"

I took a deep breath before I started talking. "Well... I had my first boyfriend when I was like, 13 or 14. His name was Morris, and, um... I don't know, I guess he was a good guy, but we only dated for about month. I mean, we were 14, you know?" Louis laughed at how quickly I was talking. Seriously though, why was I talking so fast? As the thought crossed my mind, I took another breath.

"Then, after Morris, I dated this guy Jensen... We were together for like a year, but that was only because he cried the first two times I tried breaking up with him." There he goes, laughing again.

"Are you serious?" Louis said through a laugh, and I couldn't help but chuckle as well. His laugh was contagious. "Yeah, he... He was unbelievable. His definition of a relationship was that two people always hold hands, always kiss, even when they fight! I'm serious! We would have an argument, and he'd still try to put his arm around me."

"You can't be serious," Louis laughed. Oh, how I wish he was right.

"Sadly, I am." I pressed my lips together and tried to get that blonde boy out of my head.

"What about the third guy?" Louis asked and I had to close my eyes for a second; ah, the third guy...

"I met him a month before I broke up with Jensen... I didn't cheat on him or anything, I just knew Flynn before we separated."

"That's his name? Flynn?" I had to close my eyes again, and nodded as I opened them.

"We started dating a bit after my 16th birthday... I really wasn't sure about him, hell, I wasn't sure about anything after Jensen. Okay, you should seriously stop laughing at this!"

"I'm sorry!" Louis laughed even harder. "I just can't believe people like him exist."

I blinked a few times. "Well, to be fair, he was 15, I mean, what do 15 year olds know?" I shrugged, and so did Louis. "I guess you're right. Anyway... What was Flynn like?"

A vacant smile appeared on my face as I thought about Flynn. "He was amazing," I said bluntly. "Wonderful. The best thing that ever happened to me."

I was glad Louis wasn't laughing anymore. "He was a year older than me, tall, funny... Kind of a rebel, you know, a bad boy... People loved him, he was just so... Full of life. He lit up whichever room he entered. I loved that about him, that's what made me stay with him for five years."

"Woah, woah, woah. Five years?" Louis interrupted, in pure shock.

I nodded. "Girls loved him, he had them all falling at his feet, but... He chose to be with me, and I wasn't even one of them. He actually liked my plain self, and he never stopped. He always told me he loves me, and I always knew he was talking the truth."

"Why did you guys break up?" Louis asked quietly.

"We didn't really," I said with a sad smile.

"Wait, what?" He asked after a couple of seconds of processing my answer. "What does that mean, you're still together?" I shook my head. "Then what? What happened?"

I knew the question was coming, but I didn't really prepare myself for it. For a moment I squeezed my eyes shut, and then spoke.

"He died in a train accident last year." I gripped Louis' shirt and snuggled closer to him, afraid I'd start crying if I didn't have anyone near me. Luckily, it was like he could sense that feeling, as he wrapped both of his arms around me and kissed the top of my head.

"I'm sorry," He mumbled against my hair, but I only shook my head. "I had no idea."

"Thank you." I wanted to say something like 'it's okay', but it obviously wasn't, and we both knew it. I didn't need him to know that I still cried sometimes, when I was alone and depressed about something. Even the smallest of things, such as getting a C on a test, would make me sad, and then I'd do this annoying thing where I replay every bad moment of my life. And it would always lead me to thinking about Flynn, and how unfair it all was. I mean, why would a guy die while doing something good, such as visiting his girlfriend that's a college student? Or at least trying to visit her...

That's what made everything worse; the reason he sat on that godforsaken train, was because he wanted to see me. Because we hadn't seen each other in two months, and he just couldn't wait until freshman year ended, and I came back home. He just had to see me. And I, being my greedy and head-over-heels-in-love self, didn't do much to stop him from getting on that train. If I'd only known. If I could only turn back time, and go back to April 14th 2012... Flynn Holtz wouldn't have died because of me.

"Hey. Hey," I heard Louis' voice, kind of distant at first, but then I looked up at him. "Don't be sad, okay? I hate seeing you sad."

I frowned, trying to stop the tears that were forming in my eyes, and nodded. "I'm sorry, I just... It gets to me sometimes, you know?"

I noticed Louis nod, as he played with the hem of my shirt. "Do you want to talk about it?"

I thought about his offer for a second; did I want to talk about my dead boyfriend with my soon-to-be boyfriend?

"Nah," I said softly. "I'd much rather have you distract my thoughts," I added with a small smile, and the look on Louis' face told me that he was happy about my decision. After all, no guy likes talking about a girl's ex boyfriend, even if he's dead.

"So, Louis," I started. "Tell me something about yourself."

He cleared his throat, and looked around the room before speaking. "I was chubby as a kid, you know?"

I breathed out a laugh; of course he wouldn't pick a serious topic.

"I loved playing football, and I wanted to become a football player. But, I was overweight, and everyone was telling me that there was no chance I could ever be a professional if I kept my tummy. And I, being the competitive 13 year old that I was, convinced my mum to take me to the gym, every day after school, so I'd start exercising and prove to everyone that I really can make my dream come true. So, after about a month of torturing her, she finally agreed to take me to the gym, and let me exercise for an hour or so."

Louis stopped talking for a few seconds, and took a deep breath.

"And that's where I met her."

You know those cheesy lines in books, where a character's heart would 'literally skip a beat'? I started believing in that bullshit after my heart did the exact same thing.

I slowly looked up at Louis, and spoke after a moment of hesitation. "Her?"

He nodded, the look on his face as vacant as mine was when I talked about Flynn.

"Moni. Monique." The smile that appeared on his face gave me chest pains.

"What about her?" I asked, looking at him from under my eyelashes.

Louis sighed. "She was there with her dad, who was a P.E. teacher, and worked out constantly. She would just sit by the window with a book or an MP3 player, and kick her legs like a five year old. She was so cute, with her curly hair and those big blue eyes... Moni was partly the reason I kept going back to the gym. She's about 35% responsible for the body I have today."

I breathed out a laugh, but my smile disappeared right after. "What happened with you an M-Moni?"

"Well," Louis slowly started. "One day, about two months after I'd started going to the gym, I saw her looking at me. And as soon as she realized I'd caught her, she blushed furiously, she was almost as red as the little dress she was wearing. And since then, I'd always managed to catch her staring at me, which went on for like two weeks. After those two weeks, she waved at me when I'd see her looking at me, and also stopped blushing. I'd wave back, and another two weeks passed before I grew a pair and walked over to her to introduce myself."

"Aww," I said through a wide smile, and Louis rolled his eyes. "Don't do that." I laughed at his request. "Alright, then what happened?" I asked curiously.

He shrugged. "Nothing really, we sort of became friends. I found out she's half French, and after her parents got divorced, her mother went back to France, but Moni didn't want to go with her. She loved her dad so much, she'd rather live without her mother than him. That was something we had in common, I used to see my dad a lot back then and loved every second of it. Can you believe it? Our fathers were the reason we became friends."

"Then what happened?" I asked again, after he'd stopped talking for a few moments.

"Then... Well, stuff happened, stuff happened, stuff happened... Next thing I know, she was kissing me for my fourteenth birthday. She convinced her dad, who wasn't very fond of me, to let her come to my birthday. And in the middle of the party, she told me that her present for me was outside, and we went to my backyard and... Well, she kissed me."

He gulped and took my hand before speaking again, squeezing it tightly. "I felt about her the same way you felt about Flynn. Or the other way around. And..." He stopped for a few seconds again. "You know how I told you our dads were the reason we became friends? Well, hers was the reason we broke up."

He subconsciously squeezed my hand even tighter, and even though I wanted him to continue talking, I couldn't dare myself to speak. Luckily, Louis spoke again after a minute.

"We dated for like, two and a half years... Exactly thirty months. And to think that, even after I'd proved to Mr. Mullins that I was a good guy and that I really cared about his daughter, he still stood in the way of our relationship, just... I don't know. Angers me."

The fact that he used present tense made me a little angry.

"And Monique, she... She loved her dad a little too much. She thought that, whatever he said or did, he was always right. He was perfect in her eyes. She would choose him over everyone else. And so... When he told her to leave me, she did it without thinking for a second."

Now it was Louis that was frowning. "She told me that her dad didn't think I was good for her, so that means that I really wasn't. I mean, can you believe that? She actually thought her dad knew me better than her. Her, the person who was with me 24/7 for two and a half fucking years. She just left me like I never meant anything to her."

"And that's why you became the person you are today?" I interrupted quietly, and Louis shook his head quickly.

"Was," He said. "I was that person. But yeah... It was because of her."

I blinked a few times, watching Louis as he fidgeted his hands.

"Why did you lie to me?" I asked, out of the blue, after a minute of silence. He looked up at me confused. "L-Lied to you?"

"Yes," I replied firmly. "That day, when I was at the hospital... I asked you if you've ever had a girlfriend, and you said no. You lied to me. Why did you do that?" My tone might have been a little too harsh, but I didn't care; if there's one thing I can't stand, it's lying. I hated it. Loathed it. Despised it.

"U-Um, I..." Louis stuttered, obviously taken aback, but I still didn't really care.

"I really hate being lied to, you know that?" I said, and noticed him gulp. "More than anything."

"I-I'm sorry," He stammered, causing me to shake my head.

"Don't ever lie to me, okay?" I pleaded. "It'll cause you a lot of trouble." I was serious, but I couldn't help but smile a little in the end. The story was really cute, at least the first half was. I was glad Louis hadn't always been a player, and that he actually had a reason for it.

"So," I started slowly. "Is there anything else you'd like to tell me? 'Cause now's the perfect time." I smiled.

"Um..." He stuttered again, before closing his mouth and gulping. Eventually he shook his head. "N-No."

I raised my eyebrows at him. "You sure?" He closed his eyes and nodded.

"Okay," I said quietly. "Now... Is there anything you'd like to ask me?"
