Chapter 15

Louis' POV

I groaned and turned on my back as someone knocked on the door. I felt as if they were pounding on my head.

"Zach, could you open the door?" I said groggily, with my arm over my eyes. When nothing happened after five seconds and the knocking continued, I sighed and looked around the room. Zach's bed was a mess, as always, and he was nowhere to be seen.

"Zach?" I called, he was probably in the bathroom... Though I don't hear any water coming.

"I'm coming! Jesus Christ." I stood up when the knocking didn't stop, this was a great way to start the day. Who could be at the door so early? This had never happened before. Well, maybe it has, but Zach would always be there to open it and make sure I remain unconscious.

I sighed as I ran my fingers through my hair on my way to the door. I was literally still half asleep, this was just so unexpected. If someone decides to knock on the door again, they should at least give me a heads up, like tell me to set my alarm at 6am if they're going to be here at 9... Oh, whatever.

"Who is it?" I asked as I opened the door, but not my eyes as well.

"Good morning, Louis," I heard a female voice and immdiately knew who it was.

"And, hello to you too." I opened my eyes to see Caitlyn waving at my body. When I looked down I realized I wasn't wearing a shirt.

"Very funny," I said with a lazy smile on my face, not even bothering to put some clothes on.

"What's up, Caitlyn?" I asked as I leaned myself on the door and, with difficulty, looked at her. She was now grinning at me?

"I came to tell you about the club on Saturday," She beamed and it took me a second to process what she was talking about, but soon I remembered the two of us talking on the hallway about Lorena's birthday a couple of days ago, and nodded.

"Yeah, what is it?" I asked about the club, closing my eyes again.

Caitlyn didn't say anything for a few seconds so I opened them again, and saw her looking at me hesitantly.

"Maybe I should write it down for you, can I come in?" She said and I chuckled. I wasn't even offended that she thought I couldn't remember the name of the club, if she hadn't called me Louis when I opened the door, I would probably still be thinking that my name is Frank.

"Only at your own risk," I said and stepped back so Caitlyn could come in. She took one swift step, and then just stood at the doorway, observing the room with horror in her eyes.

"Oh my," She muttered and I couldn't hold back a laugh. It's quite fun watching how girls react to our dorm.

"Lorena wouldn't approve of this," She commented and crossed her arms, seemingly afraid that something might jump out at her.

I sighed and walked back to my bed, while Caitlyn just stood in the middle of the room, slowly getting on my nerves. I wasn't really in the mood for anyone's shit this early in the morning.

"Well, you have some notebooks on the tables, just rip out a piece of paper and put it somewhere I can see it," I said as I laid back on the bed. I heard Caitlyn moving around and soon there was a noise that indicated she was ripping out a piece of paper. And that meant she would leave soon. Very soon.

"Okay, so the club's called Puzzle, and it's in Waterloo... There's only one club with that name there, so you can't miss it." She said while I nodded the entire time, not even hearing half of what she's said.

"Alright, I'm sure you can show yourself out," I said through a sigh, already falling asleep again.

"Sure Lou. Um, can I ask you something?"

"What?!" I whined.

"Why aren't you in class?"

I opened my eyes and looked at Caitlyn. She was frowning at me and I just shrugged.

"It's Wednesday, I don't have the first two periods," I said, but it felt weird. It almost felt wrong saying that.

Caitlyn laughed, which took me by surprise. It was my turn to frown at her now.

"What, what's so funny?" I asked as I sat up, suddenly a little anxious.

"Oh, Louis," Caitlyn said, a smile still lingering on her lips.

"It's Thursday, and you have Drama in five minutes. Bye!" She said and quickly walked out of the dorm. It took me a second to process what she had just said, but when I did...

"Shit."

Lorena's POV

"Alright, class, is anyone absent?" Miss Dawson asked, and I turned around to see who wasn't there. It felt weird, seeing that Louis was missing. The last two days he was the first one to enter amphitheater 72, and I basically had to hide from him. But now... Hm, it seems like he's finally given u-

"I'm here, I'm here!" A very loud voice pulled me out of my thoughts, and I had to put my hand over my heart because of the sudden shock.

"So, you've decided to join us, Tomlinson?" Miss Dawson said and I smiled at my lap. He was no longer Louis to her; he was now Tomlinson. Ha.

"Um... I-I slept in, I'm sorry," Louis stuttered, and I could hear him walking down the aisle. Oh God, just don't sit next to me.

"And what is that all about, for your partner maybe?" The way she said 'partner' made me turn around and look at Louis. Sure enough, he was buttoning his shirt and looked like an absolute mess. To be fair, he looked pretty h-

"Hey!" I said, realizing that was exactly what Miss Dawson wanted me to think. Everyone near me laughed and she took off her glasses.

"No, it's not," Louis said through a laugh as well. "I just, well I told you, I sle-"

"Alright, just sit down already, I don't have time for your nonsense, Louis," Miss Dawson said and I swear, I heard her say shnonsense. Though I didn't have time to focus on that, as Louis sat down right next to me, a little too close for my liking. After five days of successfully avoiding him... Dammit.

"Okay, everyone, shut up. Evan, Milo, the stage is all yours." Miss Dawson said and turned around so she could look at Evan and Milo as they rehearsed the first scene. I sat up in my chair and leaned on the table so I wouldn't look at Louis, though I could feel him. I could feel his eyes on me, I could feel his unpleasantness as he watched me. But I couldn't give in. No, not this time.

As if on cue, Louis sat up as well and sighed, obviously frustrated. I could see from the corner of my eye, that his leg was bouncing, and his lips were pressed together in a straight line. I gulped and scratched the back of my neck; he looked like a ticking time bomb that was going to explode any moment now, and I didn't know if I had enough time to prepare myself for when he does.

Turns out I didn't, so when Louis abruptly grabbed my notebook I almost screamed; almost. That didn't mean that he didn't scare the living shit out of me, but at least I managed to control myself. It's actually something I should be proud of.

Louis pulled me out of my thoughts when he shoved my, now open, notebook back to me, and threw me his pen. While I was getting over my second shock of the morning, both because of him, I didn't notice he had written something down. But I was sure about one thing; whatever it is, it's not good.

I gulped again and leaned forward to read what he wrote down.

We need to talk, it said. I gulped again before picking up his pen.

About what?

You know very well.

I took a minute before replying again. This reminded me of a creepy scene on a movie, where the girl would actually get tricked and then eaten by vampires. I didn't want to be eaten by vampires, I'm a good girl, after I finish university I want to become an English teacher. I think education is very important. Wait, what the fuck am I thinking about?

I cleared my throat and finally replied to Louis.

I can't talk now.

Haven't you found enough time over the last week?

No, I've been busy.

Just one minute. That's all I'm asking for.

Once again, I stared at his last message before writing back. He obviously wasn't bluffing when he said that wasn't the end of the conversation, I quote.

I looked at Louis, and by the looks of it, he was very tense; his lips still forming a straight line, his jaw clenched and his knuckles white. So when I think about it, it would do me less damage if I just talked to him instead of avoiding him for the rest of the school year.

I sighed before writing down my answer, defeated.

One minute, that's all you get.

*******

"Just be quick, okay?" I said through a sigh as I felt Louis start walking next to me. He didn't say anything, but once we were out of the amphitheater, he took my hand and made me turn around to face him.

"I have three questions," He started, with a not very happy look on his face.

"Why the fuck are you avoiding me, why the fuck did you throw me out of your dorm, and what the fuck is actually going on?" Louis said, emphasizing the word fuck in every question. I knew it wasn't because he wanted to leave an impression; he was actually angry.

I sighed, I knew I'd be in this position eventually, I just didn't prepare myself for it.

"So? I'm waiting," Louis said, obviously frustrated.

I sighed again scratched the back of my neck. "Louis, I..."

"What?" Jesus, will you stop rushing me?!

"I can't be... Friends with you," I finally said, feeling too awkward to even look him in the eye.

I heard him laugh in disbelief, before he pulled my chin so I was facing him again. He looked like an asylum patient; frowning at me with his eyes wide, and a creepy smile on his face.

"You can't be friends with me?" He asked, a hint of anger in his voice. At least that creepy smile was gone.

I slowly took his hand off of my face, scared of what he might do while he's angry, and shook my head in response. Louis' face went blank and I knew this was definitely not going to last only one minute.

"Will you tell me why?" He asked, taking one step closer to me. For some reason, I couldn't bring myself to step away from him. As much as I didn't want to give in, he still had that effect on me. But I couldn't give up; not now.

"Because..." I paused and looked up at him.

"Because you're a womanizer, and I look like a whore next to you," I said and closed my eyes. If I didn't want to give in, I couldn't look at his face. It would only take one glance at his heartbroken grimace for me to get back at where I was a week ago.

"Seriously? You care more about what people say than, than the actual truth?" Louis said, his tone 100% shocked.

"I don't know the actual truth." I shrugged. Even though my answer was partly a lie, since I didn't care what people say about me, the other part was true. He was a womanizer, no matter how much anyone denied it.

"What do you mean, you don't know the actual truth?" Louis said, anger once again audible as he spoke.

"Well, I don't, Louis!" I said, becoming frustrated as well.

"Have you ever had a relationship that lasted more than two days? No. Have you ever had a girlfriend that you didn't cheat on after more than two days? No," I said and watched his face as he actually started understanding.

"That's all I've ever known, and nothing you say is going to change it," I added and honestly, I was pretty happy with my explanation. It was the truth after all, even though I didn't really think about it before this.

Louis was looking at his feet, and when he looked up at me again, he didn't look angry, at all. In fact, he seemed like he was happy with my answer as well.

"So, the only way you'd want to be "friends" with me again, is if I proved you wrong?" He said and I nodded. He wasn't going to do it anyways, so why lie to the boy?

He was about to say something again, when the bell cut him off.

"Sorry, I've gotta go. Goodbye, Louis," I said and, without waiting for his reply, turned around and walked away. Well. That wasn't that bad. It seemed like he finally understood, and was finally going to leave me alone.

*******

Louis' POV

I watched Lorena as she walked away, a smile tugging at my lips. I'm sure that most guys wouldn't be smiling if the girl they're slowly falling for told them what she just told me, but I'm not most guys. I don't think like most guys either. In fact...

"Challenge accepted."
