TIREDNESS

"...Drake..." Ellie whispered... I could tell by her face, she didn't want to be near me.

I just stared at her. Worried about what she'll do, or say. "...You just..."

"Ellie," I said in a low-sounding voice "I had too. He was going to kill me."
"How would you know that?"
"He was bitten. Look at his arm. He was tossing multiple knifes at me."

She was quiet. "I wouldn't have done it, if I didn't have too. I'm not a killer."
She sat there, starring at the boy drown in his own blood. Face pale as snow, and eyes wider than the moon. "Let's just go."

She said, getting up and walking up. I sighed. I followed her, but I took the arrow out the boys chest. I washed it by a river we came upon just before nightfall.

We weren't really walking as fast as earlier. I guess Ellie was still processing what had just happened.

We set up a fire, and ate what we had left of our food.

"We'll arrive at the village tomorrow morning," Says Ellie.

I just stayed quiet, and nodded slowly. Ellie rested up in a tree, but I decided to sleep in a separate tree. I didn't want Ellie to be nervous about sleeping in the same tree.

I tried to sleep. But I couldn't, I had so many questions to be answered. Where are my parents? Are they home? Are they worried about me? Has Ellie lost trust in me? Is Ellie afraid? How does she think of me? What does she think about my personality?

I suddenly felt weird. I'm thinking of questions, I've never asked myself. My heart pounded, and my palms got sweaty. But I ignored it, and tried to sleep. But the more I tried, the more my eyes refused to stay closed.

I stay awake until sunrise. I finally had fallen asleep, but I didn't stay asleep long. How do I know?
I looked up to the sky when I woke, and I could tell I was only asleep for about four hours. I wasn't even
tired.

A couple hours later, the sun was up, and you could hear the birds morning songs. I heard Ellie climbing down her tree. That made me understand that it was time for me to get up as well.

Though I was really comfortable, I got down the tree. I was dizzy the second both of my feet were on the ground. Maybe I was tired. I just didn't feel it.

"We can get some food at the market." She says. She didn't seem to be in the greatest mood. Was she up all night too? No. I looked into her eyes, and I could tell she's had all the rest she could get.

"Let's go," we head out. We come to a path of gravel, with civilized lamps. We knew we were close to the kingdom, or, village.

We arrive there, about thirty minutes later. We go through crowds, and crowds of people. Not saying even a syllable to each other.

Once we get to a small clearing, Ellie heads to a food market. "Stay close," She had said before leaving for it. I was too eager to find my parents, so of course, I disobeyed.

I didn't have to obey her in the first place, she's just someone I met a couple days ago. I felt a sudden feel of tiredness. If only I didn't stay up all night...

As I walked through the clear place, I noticed the village more and more. It wasn't very bad. At all. No thief's in sight, and no aggressive hunters. It was perfect. Why did my parents want to avoid letting me come here?

The place is so peaceful, loud, but peaceful. Then, I see them. My parents!

"Mom... Dad..." I whisper, in shock. I was doubting they'd be here, but now my heart raced with happiness.
"Mom! Dad!" I ran towards them, and they turned around. I hugged my mom, who had tears in her eyes, and my dad, who seemed angry.

"Why are you here?" My dad asked.
"I was looking for you guys," My mom smiled, but my dad gave her a concerned look, which made he smile fade away quickly.

"You can't be here, Drake."
"What? Mom, this place rocks! Why did you guys try to keep me away from such a peaceful place?"

They got quiet, but my father broke the silence quickly. "Go home."

"No."
"What did you just say to me, young man?"
"I said no."
"Drake Jackson! You don't say no to your father!" My mother exclaimed.

"Well, I am now. It took me about three days to get here. I'm leaving without taking you with me."
They got silent again.

"Just answer me these questions," I crossed my arms "One, why didn't you tell me you were coming here?"

"We had to come here for something. I meant to leave a note, but your father thought that you'd be okay at least two days alone. And he also thought you wouldn't disobey us, and come to the village to look for us."

"I was freaking out! You guys are the only people I have left, since Owen died."

"Did you meet anyone in the forest?"
"Yes."
"Are they with you now?"
"Yes."
"There ya' go. Someone else you have left in your life." I got angry at what my dad spoke.

My parents are the only people who are left in my life, that know me closely.

"Well, next question. Why don't you let me come here? And I know the way you ignore the question. And I'm not going to stop asking it, until I get an answe-"

"Drake, there you are. I told you to stay put!" Ellie grabbed my arm.

"Well, maybe I wanted to find my parents. And guess what? I did."
She looked at my parents, and smiled awkwardly.

"Oh, hi... Um, sorry about that. Me and Drake kinda sorta met in the woods."

"No, no. It's fi--" Swish, swash, flop. We all looked to the sky. We heard wing noises. Like there was a giant bird around, but I guess we all ignored it.

Flop, swish. The whole area got quiet.

I felt myself being pulled, and then I had sense to run the direction where I was being pulled. I couldn't hear anything, I couldn't see anything.

I kept bumping into people, and felt as if the one pulling me was dodging something. And then, everything goes black.
