Chapter 38: These enemies are all hoes anyway (Peter)

Previously:
Peter saw Hiccup and Toothless harness the lightning and was surprised to say the least. The battle continues, and Sam got hurt (he's mostly fine) so they're down two people; dr Strange had to help with his injuries.

Refer to the last chapter for Hiccup's recollection of the recent events

Now:

For the first time in a while, Karen has some good news!

"I've been able to detect the estimated number of robots and aliens, would you like to know?"

"Sure, Karen!" I beam, throwing a punch at a robot, rolling to the side to avoid its spike, and following up with another punch. I'm out of web fluid again, but it doesn't surprise me because it's been a while since I got the refill. I might experiment later and see if I can find a way to expand my web cartridge space. Or find a way to get more web fluid into the one tube. Whatever works.

"The number of robots I have detected are around 10- 15 thousand, with the number steadily declining." Karen informs me. "The number of aliens I have detected is in the 4 to 8 thousand range. This number is also declining by the minute."

"Wow, so we're on the home stretch!" I grin hopefully, finally taking the robot down and moving onto another. Looking around, there are a lot of alien and robot bodies, I can already tell cleanup is going to be long and tedious. Maybe if we got a giant magnet we could suck up the robot bodies... if the robots are magnetic, that is. I don't know what kind of metal they are. Perhaps we'll have to experiment.

I've been relying on my spider sense a lot lately (not that I usually don't; I've just been using it a LOT as my energy decreases), the whole battle really, but it's hard. It's overwhelming at times, because there's a lot of enemies around and so much going on it's hard to think straight and pay attention to the right things.

The robot I'm fighting, occasionally chanting "surrender or perish" like they have been the whole battle, sprays a bunch of bullets at me close range. Luckily my spider sense goes off and I'm able to dive out of the way, even shooting a web taser, but in the process I end up on the ground. Which wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that a huge alien has just jumped onto me, it's large legs pinning my hands down. I try to wriggle my legs at least, but it throws the rest of its weight onto them.

I struggle, gasping for air with wide eyes as the present fades to the past.
"Peter, your elevated heart beat suggests you are experiencing..."

The debris pushes down on me, pinning me. The dust is in my throat. I can't breathe. I can't breathe. I'm stuck. Desperately I shove at it, but it just won't budge. "I'm down here. I'm down here. I'm stuck. I'm stuck. I can't move. I can't..." my voice shakes as I call out. Nothing.

Deep down I know I should be able to toss it off like nothing. It's an alien, they're so light. But that part of me is locked away while the rest lives in the past, reliving the moment of being crushed.

No one can hear me, no one knows where I am. No one is going to find me. I am stuck. I'm going to die here. I've failed.

But then the weight is gone. And the memory vanishes. And I'm able to breathe. Looking up to thank whoever helped, I'm surprised to see the dark scales of Toothless as he stands over me and forces the alien away. Growling and faking lunges, he pushes the alien far away until it gets blown up by Wanda's red magic.

"Oh my god, he saved me!" I gush, the nightmare I was reliving already fading from my memory. "A dragon just saved me! This is so cool!" I gush, touched. Toothless looks back at me, regarding me with excitement and happiness for the first time. Oh my god he's adorable.

"Well, guess he trusts you now." Hiccup explains with joy in his voice, walking into view. He offers me a hand, pulling me to my feet. I look over his shoulder and notice an unfamiliar man stands there, with large horns producing upwards out of a helmet, they look like goat horns or maybe deer antlers.
"Who's this?" I ask, catching my breath. Hiccup follows my gaze.

"Oh! This is Dagur, he's from my world." He explains. "I should probably let everyone know, actually." He adds, pulling his helmet off and pressing a finger to his ear.

"Uh, hi everyone. Hiccup here, just wanted to let you know that someone from my world has shown up. His name is Dagur."

"Oh, surely you can make my introduction a lot more exciting than that, brother!" The man exclaims. Hiccup rolls his eyes.

"He's a little crazy, but he means well." Hiccup adds and Dagur gives a dramatic gasp.

"Copy." Wanda responds.

"I'm DERANGED, brother. Not just 'a little crazy'." He shoves Hiccup playfully, who groans dramatically and slips his helmet back on.

"Brother?" I question.

"Not really." Hiccup responds, shaking his head.

"Ahh, the guy with the antlers? Should give you a new nickname, reindeer games. He might have you beat." Mr Stark says over coms. I assume he's referring to Dagur's helmet.
"Impossible. No one can beat me." Loki snarls over the coms.

At Loki's word, Hiccup rushes forward. "Those two CAN NOT meet." He whispers, leaning close to me dramatically and waving his arms a firm 'no'. "There would be deaths."

"Death? Where?" Dagur yells brightly.

"Uh... look around, dude." I respond. "We're in a battle."

"Oooh Goody!" Dagur exclaims, then laughs a little crazily, and runs off.

"See what I mean?" Hiccup mutters, watching him go.

"Yeah." I agree, also watching Dagur until he's out of sight.

"C'mon, we've got to take care of these guys." Hiccup gestures to a bunch of aliens beginning to surround us. I nod.

I lunge for the first alien I see, throwing a hard punch at its head. From there I take on a different alien, landing on its back and wrestling it to the ground. Toothless and Hiccup fight next to me, and all together we provide each other back up and manage to take the aliens down quickly and easily.

Afterwards I move on to fight a few robots while Hiccup and Toothless return to the sky, doing their usual aerial support. I run into Dagur a few minutes later and end up fighting by his side for about thirty seconds.

Dagur has a large sword, and he seems to be much better at fighting than Hiccup. No offence to Hiccup.

I take down a robot, ripping out its wires. I look up just in time to see Dagur kill the last alien he was fighting and disappear into the battle before I can ask him any questions.

"Surrender or perish," the robot continues to chant, regaining my attention.
"Ugh." I groan dramatically, "why do you have to keep saying that?! I already told you they're dumb options."
"Surrender or perish."

I roundhouse kick the robot in the face and rip it's metal spike out of its body, jamming the spike into it until it stops moving. I then spin and slice through an alien with the spike. Immediately after, my spider sense goes off, so I drop down to avoid a flying robot. Teasing it, I start doing a one armed push up. "Oh, I'm sorry, did I ruin your dramatic entrance?" I laugh, before pushing myself up onto a hand stand— because I'm extra [™️]— and hurling my legs into the robots chest as it tries to charge again. I make my feet stick to it, and —thank god I have great torso strength— sit up to grab it's head with one hand, punching with the other. The robot falls down and I drop into a roll upon hitting the ground.

"Peter you have a backpack with two containers of spare web fluid two blocks away according to the tracker, would you like to deploy the drone to retrieve it?" Karen asks me.
"Oh I completely forgot about droney!" I grin. "Yes! Yes, please!"
The little spider drone takes off, and I continue to fight.

I turn my attention to three robots about fifty meters away, watching them spraying bullets around almost aimlessly, desperately. So I head towards them, running quickly. I make it to them and make light work of fighting them; quickly taking them down with several punches, kicks, etc. As I'm finishing off the last one, I see an arrow come down and strike into a nearby alien. It confuses me, because the arrow didn't come from either of the directions that Clint and Kate have been. So I look up, just to see another arrow coming down from Kate who's sitting behind Hiccup on Toothless. I continue to watch them for a few seconds as they fly around and fire Toothless' blasts and Kate's arrows down onto the battle.

"Surrender or—"
"Perish, yeah yeah I get it." I interrupt, looking back down to see a robot approaching. Just then I see droney appear overhead, and he drops down the ziplock bag I keep my web fluid in, I'm glad the drone was able to get into the zipped up pocket to get it, because I doubt it's be able to carry the entire backpack. I catch it, pulling out and equipping the two web cartridges as the drone returns to its place.

"Webs equipped successfully," Karen says. Three more robots show up and I get into a battle stance, smirking under my mask.

Some time ago, on the other side of the multiverse

Dagur's hands gripped the side of the boat as he braces himself against the chopping waves. Why he'd ever thought this trip was a good idea was beyond him. His eyes scanned the sky above and the horizon, seeing nothing but dark clouds.

"I don't understand, sir." One of his men exclaimed from next to him. "In all my years on the sea, I've never seen a storm like this one!"

Dagur wiped at the rain on his face and shook his head. "Something doesn't feel right." He wished he had Sleuther, but he was back on Beserker island because one of his wings had gotten damaged fighting a wild Monstrous Nightmare the previous day. Mala was helping him, most likely with a soothing mud bath. Nonetheless, having no dragon made him feel a lot more vulnerable out on the ocean. The only dragons on board were Terrible Terrors they used for messages, but the wind was far too strong for them to have any hope of flying anywhere without getting blown off course.

"What do we do?" Another of his men asked. Dagur scanned the surroundings again. The storm was growing bigger by the second, lightning flashing directly overhead. Dagur set his sights on the crows nest.

"I'm going up." He yelled over the weather and pointed up the mast.

"But sir!" One protested.

"Hold for my orders!" Dagur barked, walking towards the mast and beginning to climb before anyone could say anything else. He braced himself against the wood as he climbed, the boat swaying side to side from the waves. He hadn't seen waves this big for years. At one point the boat tips so dangerously he ends up dangling off the wooden mast, much to the horror of his men below, but he manges to claw his way back and force his way into the crows nest.

He hung on so tight to the wooden brim of the nest that his knuckles turned white, and he squinted hard against the wind and rain. He had to get his bearings. He braced himself against the swaying and looked all around them. No sign of land from what he could see— which wasn't a lot, due to the storm.

"We have to keep going as we are!" He shouted down at the men. "Tie down anything loose!" He wouldn't tell them that he has no idea where they were, nor would he tell them that he doubted they'd come across land anytime soon, or that his vision was so constructed by the storm that they could strike rocks or ice and he wouldn't have a clue. He couldn't do that. He couldn't allow their hope to falter. He needed their unwavering support to get through this.

They shouted back up at him, but he couldn't hear them. He gripped onto the top of the mast and cupped his free hand to his ear, trying to hear them. "What?" He shouted. They seems to shout more, panicked, and it was the last thing he saw before a blinding light consumed him.

When it retreated, the crows nest was empty. The men on deck could do nothing but stare, horrified. What were they to tell lady Mala?

Aaaand there we go. So that's how Dagur got thrown into the other universe. Hope you enjoyed the chapter!
