Chapter 34: We have the power of (a) God AND anime on our side! (Peter)

Writing some of this under the influence of alcohol lol so forgive me if it's a bit random

Previously:

Peter found himself being rescued on the battle field by Hiccup and Toothless, who had broken out of the tower to help. Seeing them in battle, he was beginning to see why they wanted to help— they move incredibly well together. Peter also got to show off his web wings when he saw Hiccup using his wings, before they fought side by side for a while.

Refer to the last chapter for Hiccup's recollection of the recent events

Now:

After seeing the Bifrost crack down to earth, I was elated. And can you blame me?! It's THOR!
He's, not only a really powerful god who doesn't even need his hammer to channel lightning anymore (!), but he's also a skilled warrior, super chill and a genuinely cool guy. And don't even get me started on Loki! He's a little scary but Thor says he's "mostly good" so I'm hoping he'll channel all the "not good" towards the enemy. It was also pretty funny to see Hiccup freaking out about Thor being real. We tried to tell ya!

Anyway, having some back up has really installed more confidence in me, allowing me to bound around the battlefield with newfound energy.
"You guys are screwed!" I tease the robots in front of me, before firing a web and yanking a chunk of it away. The metal flies apart, the black goo spraying everywhere and not failing to gross me out. My spider sense goes off and I do a flip to avoid a spray of bullets. I yank the web back, sending the metal snapping right into another robot forcefully. I continue to fight off the robot for a few seconds, ending with the robot pinned to the ground with the last of my web.

A few minutes have passed and we're finally getting somewhere. I don't want to say we're getting the upper hand, we're still badly outnumbered by the hundreds of thousands of course, but they're starting to fall easier thanks to more of us being around to back each other up— including the arial support from Toothless and Hiccup.

Speaking of Hiccup and Toothless, they're about to fly right by me. "Hey!" I wave, jumping on top of a car to get their attention. "Hey, Hiccup! Over here!"

Hiccup glances at me and directs Toothless to make a smooth turn to fly over to me. "Hey, Spider-Man. Everything ok?" They land on top of a nearby upturned car.

"Yeah, man!" I respond sheepishly. "It's just— I've ran out of web fluid, I kinda need to get back to the tower to grab my spare. Any chance I could get a lift? If not it's totally ok, no pressure!"

He glances down at Toothless, who returns his look and makes a weird but cute noise. Hiccup looks back at me, "Yeah, of course!" He extends his arm and I jump onto their car before walking forward to grab his outstretched hand, letting him pull me up onto the saddle. "You might want to hold on tight," he advises me.

I wrap my arms around his waist, slightly nervous. I've seen how fast they've been going...
Toothless opens his wings, and with a subtle click of the tail we shoot up into the sky. The wind whips at us as we ascend—and let's just say I can see why he has to tie himself to the saddle! With my life flashing before my eyes and my soul trying to leave my body—yes, I'm being dramatic— I tighten my grip and even consciously stick myself to the saddle just to be sure as we move through the air.

After a few seconds I get over myself and start enjoying the ride, screaming out in delight like one would on a roller coaster. It's at this moment that Toothless tucks his wings and sends us into a dive. I peer over Hiccup's shoulder to see where we're headed— a few robots and an alien attacking Steve. Toothless fires a blast that rockets down through the air, an explosion of flames and metal being the last thing I see as Toothless his opens his wings and we spiral away, this time headed towards the tower.

"That was so cool!" I exclaim, looking back down at the mess. Hiccup chuckles, patting Toothless fondly. We approach the tower rapidly, heading towards the top windows— I notice that the "Peter-door" is still open so I'm not surprised when we fly through.

We land with a thud and I hop off the saddle. "Thank you!" I shout, running off towards my room. I hurl the door open and run in, diving for all the spare cartages scattered around my room. It doesn't take too long to install them, but I still am anxious to return to the battle as quick as possible. My heads up display coffrons that both my web shooters are full again, so I leave my room and run back the way I came.

Once I return, Hiccup and Toothless are already gone so I simply jump out of the window like last time, swinging down to rejoin the battle.

It doesn't take long to get back into the chaos of it all, everyone fighting as hard as they can to finish this. Most of us have spread out into groups of two or three, that way we can cover more ground while also being able to defend each other if needed. Which is more of a "when" than an "if", to be honest.

"How are we looking, Karen?" I ask, throwing punches at a robot until it breaks, it's "surrender or perish" threats draining out with its power.
"It appears that the battle will not be over any time soon," Karen informs me much to my chagrin, "but the enemy's numbers are dropping."
"Okay," I respond, moving onto a few more robots, "better pick up the pace, then."

A flash of silver catches my attention, and I look over to see Loki pulling a blade out of an alien seemingly effortlessly, twisting away majestically as the alien drops and shoving his hand onto a passing robot— a green glow emitting from it and destroying it from the inside out.
Whoa! That's so cool! Thor should bring Loki more often, I'm sure the world has gotten over everything. Probably.

In that moment my spider sense goes off and I kick up what appears to be half a wooden bench, grabbing it and slamming it into a nearby robot. I follow it up with a second hit, before moving on to fight an alien.

More time passes in the battle, but I'm still somewhat close to Loki. We're even chatting a little, I'm trying to play it cool but c'mon he's a god!

"Well, I'm sure Thor has spoken about the Fifth Battle of Vanaheim*." He exclaims, barely out of breath as he goes from one enemy to the other. I've noticed that he alternates using his magic and his knives, sometimes both. "The enemy were much like this."
"Robots?" I question as I yank a flying robot to the ground with a web.
"No," he shakes has head and yanks his blade out of an alien. "Weak."
"Oh." I respond, wrestling the robot to the ground and attempting to get to the wiring. "O-of course." I finally take down the robot, trying to act like it wasn't hard. (Look, I've been fighting forever okay?! Don't judge me! AND I have to avoid the spikey blades and the bullets! And I have to listen to the stupid chatters and clicks from the aliens. Give me a break)
(*made up)

"Of course, I imagine it may have been harder for a mere mortal like yourself."

How does he make that sound so polite?! Was it an insult or a compliment?!
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about it. I'm a bit stronger than a regular person!" I grin, jumping to the side to dodge a spread of bullets before flipping over to take the offending robot down with a few yanks of wire here and there.

"So it would seem."

I tilt my head, confused. "Was that sarc—"

A loud creaking sound comes from somewhere in the sky, and I look up as my spider sense wildly goes off. I see the source and am horrified, seeing an apartment complex beginning to fall down a few blocks away. I don't really have time to react, who would?! All I can think to do is try to run towards it.

But as soon as I take a step forward, the building freezes midair and slowly eases back into an upright position. That's not normal, right? Yeah, just checking.

I look around, trying to see if anyone else is seeing what I'm seeing or whether I'm delusional, but catch sight of Loki in a powerful stance, eyes narrowed in concentration as he stares down—or rather up— the tower until it's stable. Wait... did he just?!

I look around wide eyed, even catching sight of Wanda staring up at the tower in confusion. By the red disappearing by her hands, it appears that she was about to do the same thing to the tower to some degree, when Loki bet her to it (not that I knew her powers worked that way either!). She catches my eye and smiles, shrugging as if to say "welp looks like he took care of it!", before pulling up chunks of pavement and launching it towards a group of robots with her powers so hard it crushes them.

It's otherwise silent for a second, before noise comes out of the coms.
"Yes, Loki!" Thor cheers— apparently Loki's biggest hype-man— from a distance; someone must have given him a com.
"That was so cool!" I exclaim into coms, "I didn't know Loki's powers were like that!"
"You can all worship me later," Loki responds smugly (guess he got hold of a coms too?). "Until then, we have a battle to win." He strides off confidentially. I watch him go, still trying to come to terms with the fact that he effortlessly just stopped a falling building. It makes me wonder why he didn't use his powers to this extent when he was...you know...invading New York.

"Loki's right... sort of." Captain America announces. "Let's not lose focus."

It seems to be just what I need to snap out of my stupor, as I turn back to the fight. Minutes pass as more robots and aliens flood in to fight me, more fall, and more come. It should be no surprise at this point that they just keep coming, but at least my spider sense works wonders and I'm able to dodge blow after blow. I'm not stupid though, I have just enough common sense to know that my stamina does not and will not last forever. Nor will my webs. Or my will to live. Just kidding about that last thing. The point is that I'm really wondering how long this battle is going to last.

And there we go.
Look, I'm obsessed with Loki. You should know this lmfao. Of course I'm gonna hype him up constantly. Him and Thor. And Hiccup and Toothless. And a bit of Wanda sprinkled in too. This fic is basically fan service. With the fan being me specifically lmao but I'm glad if you're enjoying it too. (It's also a method of procrastination but don't tell that to my pile of university work in the corner of the room).

Okay, okay, I'm done lol. See you next chapter with Hiccup.
