The Capricious Enchantress,Circe

Tenderly conveying dying brother,
treading careful to enable comfort,
terrified that he will succumb to hurt,
yet still averse to seek out his mother.

Ampelios conflicted, speeds gently,
soft-pawed shapes lope shadowy, beside him,
three grim-faced Nereides accompany,
while Penelope glint-eyed strides intently.

Ampelios halts to quickly parley,
for opulent palace towers through trees,
'Whatever transpires, please follow my lead.'

Waiting at entrance, enchantress Circe,
narrow-eyed watches him lower to knees,
lay brother down gently, then rise to plead.
