Totally not an Assassin...
I walked back into my room, only to freeze just around the corner by a faint noise. Placing a muffle spell on myself, I slowly turn the corner to see a redheaded woman in a black outfit tossing something up and catching it.
I squint, is that...? I lunge at her in less than a second, hitting her tendons so her legs crumpled like wet noodles.
"Get your paws off!" I yelled at her, snatching my Daedric dagger of the Vampire out of her hands, it looks like Uncle Sheo put it in my satchel as a joke, "Do you know how hard it is to find and improve these?!" I ask her in a loud voice.
She frowned, looking at me a moment. Then she smirked, and laughed, "You must be one of Tony's new children."
I snarled, "This isn't funny! You never touch my knives, or my staffs, now who are you?"
She carefully got up, leaning on the wall since her legs weren't completely back yet, "I'm the Black Widow, you can call me Natasha."
Just then, Tony came in, "What's wrong? I hear- oh." He took in the sight of me clutching my dagger and Nat on the wall, "Hi Nat. What the heck just happened, did you just hurt an assassin?"
I snorted, "An assassin would be careful and not make so much noise, it must've been a while. And yes, I took out her legs, they should be fine in a minute or two." I waved it off, setting the dagger on my bed, "She was messing with my daggers. She's just lucky it wasn't that one." I pointed to Mehrunes Dagon's dagger, which was by my enchanting table, "That one has a chance of killing with a single scratch. I keep meaning to put it in a case..."
I reach inside my satchel and start taking out wall-mounted and floor weapon stands, arranging them on my walls and around the side of the room. I take out the Wabbajack, propping it on the wall beside my bed.
I was shocked away from my task when Nat grabbed my arm, "How do you know what an assassin would do?" She asked, looking at me with a hard stare. Crap crap crap...Get her off our trail...
I just shrugged, "Common sense? If you're a sneaky killer, you wouldn't be making noise. Besides..." I trail off to get her off my scent, "Solitude, a city, is bad luck at this point I guess. There was a public event, Vittoria Vicci's wedding. Henceforth, Star and I attended. While giving an announcement to the guests, a figure dropped a gargoyle on the bride, killing her. Dismissing it as a horrible event, we stayed in Solitude a while. We got a job, to go aboard the Emperor's ship, The Katariah." I sighed, "We were sorting the things, crates, food, etcetera, and then would swim to shore so that the Emperor would be safe from any threats."
"Isn't it kind of dangerous to have children swimming from a boat to shore?" Tony asked, an eyebrow raised in a near-reprimanding tone. But not towards me, the people in my cover story.
"I guess. We didn't think much of it, it was a chance for food and pay, and we're both good swimmers." I shrugged and then frowned, "We were taking things to the Emperor himself, some food before the journey set out and we had to leave." I gave a smile with forced sadness, "We had been so excited to meet him, even if it was just for a moment. But when we entered we quickly had to hide in the shadows around the corner. It was the same figure, the same assassin, that killed Victoria. He, or maybe it was a she, walked up to the Emperor, they talked a moment, and he just..." I sighed, "Let him or her kill him. The moment the assassin was gone we bolted out to the deck as quick as possible, and climbed out along the bow."
Nat frowned, "You two shouldn't have done that, what if you fell and got hurt upon impact." Good, she buys it.
I shrugged, <You should really stop doing that so much> Angelo said, and I mentally shushed him, with a note to talk to them later.
"We were kids and just saw an assassination, we weren't exactly thinking." I deadpanned, "The tip of the bow is actually where I found that." I pointed to Windshear on my bed, "It's technically my sister's after her last birthday, but I was holding onto it for her since she was already hauling around a war hammer or two. But yeah, I just strapped the sword to my back, and we jumped off the bow, into the ocean where we started to swim for shore with the news." I lowered my head, "The Emperor had been assassinated."
They nodded and Tony gave me an awkward hug, while Nat just placed a hand on my shoulder, before they both left. I sent another disappearing note to Star, telling her the sob story I told them.
I didn't really want to lie, but well...
You don't just tell people you murdered an Emperor, now do you?
