Chapter 3
Dragons were gathered together in a forest clearing, a fire in the midst of the circle. As the music from the nearby party played in the background a dragon sauntered into the clearing. They had on a dark cloak and a make-shift crown of silver on their head. Their horns protruded from the hood on the cloak, making them look like a sinister silhouette in the faint moonlight. A small dragon, the color of stone, tottered up to her.
"Twilight, my mistress..."
She smacked him, her talons scraping against his now stinging scales. "That's Queen Twilight to you, Boulder."
He began to tremble. "B-but Miss, y-your sister."
Twilight picked up some coals from the fire and threw them at the puny dragon, his scales turning black, the coals burning holes in his wings. The cloaked dragon spoke over his tormenting screams. "My sister's rein is an unfortunate one," She keeps her voice calm as she addresses the other dragons. "however, she will not sit upon her throne for long." A streak of lightning interrupts her speech, lighting up the clearing and exposing the faces of the dragons contained there. "A tempest is coming."
She grins, turning to Boulder, who's wings are now charred. "You will have a chance to redeem yourself." She throws a dagger at his feet, he picks it up. "You will take this and kill the Queen, tonight. If you are to fail me I will kill you myself, and your family.
Boulder flinches, thinking about his family. His mate and daughter. He nods, knowing that Twilight is capable of such things.
"Good," Twilight smirks evilly. "I expect her to be dead before dawn. I will return to my palace once the sun starts to rise. Do not disappoint me."
She flies away toward the castle, the other dragons following her. Boulder tried to fly with them, only for his wings to falter and for him to smack into the ground. He sighed, rain and hail pelting onto his scales.
I have to warn Queen Starlight.
