5. The garden

Ethan was feeling much better due to the nourishing tonic he was taking daily. Each day Sasha brought him the tonic to replenish his strength. It was the third day and he was able to feel the strength back into his legs, his wounds have almost healed too. He noticed he was able to walk with less difficulty from the bed to the large french windows now.

He didn't know how he was going to ever repay Iris Fletcher, the fairy not only saved his life but was constantly keeping him away from reach of any harm.

He decided to transform into his true form tonight. Only for a short while so that he could send a message to either Dennis or Jeremy.

Thinking about them, he frowned as he knew that they will be worried sick for him by now. It was almost a week since his arrival in the Lucusorbis. He hoped that he could reunite with them sooner.

Being the King of one of the strongest realms of the world he was not worried about the management of affairs in his court. He had a well-trained council and all his ministers were well aware in the art of tackling any small or big situation in his absence. Unless the whole world would suddenly wage war against the Ladonregnum there was no need for him to worry.

Iris was feeling restless tonight. She was trying to catch some sleep for the last two hours but even though she was lying in her comfortable bed, sleep was not descending to her eyes tonight. Annoyed with her own tossing and turning, she flung her legs out of the bed and decided to take a stroll in her garden.

She put on a light wrapper around her bare shoulders and made her way towards the window. At times like these she felt proud of her ability to fly.

Though the wood nymphs did not possess wings like the Sky fairies, they were magical beings who could use the levitating spell to help them float in the air when needed. Sneaking this way her guards will not be able to find out she was leaving the sanctuary of her room without waking up half a dozen servants and maids.

Iris smiled to herself as she stood at the window sill and said the wordless incantation that lifted her feet from the ground. Gliding smoothly in the air she gracefully landed near the Thousand days Rose bushes.

These roses were only found in the Lucusorbis as it requires a nymph's tear to grow this special flower. Once bloomed, it stays in blossom for thousand days before glowing in a mystic glow and withers into nothingness eventually.

Ethan slipped out of his room in the beautiful garden outside. He has been able to watch this beautiful scenery every day. He didn't consider himself as nature lover but spending a week here has changed his view about flowers and gardens perhaps it was not any garden but an enchanted one.

He mused as he thought of the way his body responded in the presence of Iris, surely she must know some secret magic to enchant everything around her.

He found a perfect spot for his transformation. It was a clearing amongst the silver apple trees. He was careful not to damage any of the rows of delicate flowers and herbs and this seemed like a better spot as it was not in direct view of the building.

Carefully he let his strength flow in his veins. His eyes shone in the dark as two majestic white wings erupted out of his shoulders and his torso lengthened and widened, his feet gained muscle and sharp claws materialised at their base, a thick tail snaked out from his back and his mane ruffled in the night breeze.

Ethan Montgomery was transformed into the Golden mane Silver Dragon.

His nostrils flared as he sent his dragon breath to Dennis, signaling him about his whereabouts and wellbeing. He was dying to flap his wings and fly into the inky darkness of the sky above but doing this would cause massive trouble. For starters, he would be spotted by the guards of the palace and even if he managed to fly out of the reach of their weapons and magic this would be considered as the war announcement.

He made a dejected sound as he thought to transform back but suddenly he felt a movement in the trees.

Someone was standing hidden among the low branches of the apple tree. She was looking at him with a weird expression on her face. Her shawl was pooled in a heap near her feet but her fingers were still in the act of clutching the folds.

Her smooth skin glistened as if she was glowing in the dark. Ethan's felt his pupils dilate as he saw her voluptuous body underneath her flimsy nightdress.

His senses were overwhelmed with her scent. Standing in a garden full of fragrant flowers and trees, she was still exuding the most intoxicating smell. It was delicate like her stature but alluringly potent at the same time.

Ethan fought the urge to move as she stepped closer.

Her eyes were wide with amazement and her hand shook a little as she lifted it to touch his head.

"Is that you Ethan?", Iris asked in a dazed whisper.

Ethan made a strange snorting noise as her proximity was making things more difficult for him. His tail flicked from side to side as if he was nothing but a tame animal under the touch of this seductress.

Iris has never seen a dragon before. Yet alone a Golden mane Silver Dragon which was the most rare Dragon in all realms. She was enthralled by the sight in front of her. A huge white dragon was standing in her garden with his white tough skin sparkling in the moonlight and his mane golden, the same color as his eyes.

"You are beautiful", Iris said again as she stood back a little to appreciate this marvelous creature.

Ethan closed his eyes and inhaled sharply as he painstakingly transformed back. Iris fell back in alarm as the massive dragon suddenly vanished and in its place stood a handsome man. His dark hair swaying with the wind and his golden eyes burning with intense passion.
