Prologue
Within a home in the snowy lands of the north, a large light grey Maine coon was standing by his mate. He was grizzled and burly with dark grey socks on his paws. He didn't have his eyepatch so the large scar on his right half blinded eye was visible to all. His Gyr falcon, Muninn, was perched nearby on a pole made for it. His eyes were trained on the light dark grey fluff ball that was mewing next to his mate.
His mate, a black she cat curled in a blanket, was licking clean her newly born kit. She had yellow stripes and golden wings which were tucked in. The patterns around her glowing eyes were like the eye of ra. Her visage was like a sphinx. She was smaller and thinner than her mate, but also looked quite strong.
"He's beautiful, Sekhmet." the Maine coon purred to his mate.
"Of course, Fenris. He's our kit." Sekhmet purred in response as she affectionately covered the kit under her wing as he hungrily started suckling. "His name is Jørgen."
"Yørgen is a goood name." Fenris mewed as his blue eyes met the glowing eyes of his mate.
A black male cat with light grey socks ran into the cave panting. He was their elder son, Bes. "Soorry Ai vas late. De tavern vooldn't let me oot earrly."
"It's alright Bes. Come see your little brother." Sekhmet mewed affectionately as she lifted her wing.
"Helloo little broo, Ai'm yur big sib Bes." He mewed as he walked over to his younger sibling.
The kit, Jørgen, blindly tried to find the source of the voice. This caused everyone to purr and chuckle as Sekhmet guided her stumbling kit.

A few months later
"Yu can't leave, Yørgen needs a mood'r. Bes needs yu. Ai need Yu." Fenris called out beggingly as Sekhmet walked at the edge of town. Everything was white while grey clouds sent snow drifting down.
Sekhmet stopped and looked back. Her eyes full of tears which fell upon the snow. "I want to stay more than you could ever know, but I can't. I want them safe, I want you safe. But I can't be sure of that while I'm near you." She mewed through the tears.
Fenris caught up to her. "We coold prootect dem tooget'r, orr Ai can sail us too soomevhere noone coold find us." Fenris mewed desperately not able to hold back his own tears.
Sekhmet buried herself in the fluffy void that was her mate's pelt. "I'm the danger, but I can protect you all from it. I can make it so beast could find you not hurt you. And if my sisters find me, they can't take my family away from me. In all the centuries I have lived there is nothing I value more than our sons, than you." She mewed sorrowfully but determined all the same.
"Oor family means moore to me dan any treasurre of de sea, yu doo. Yu can't doo dis aloone. Ve can take anyting dat comes oor vay. Me crew can helt as vell. Yu doon't have too doo dis aloone." He pleaded trying to convince her that she didn't need to do this, at least not by herself.
Sekhmet pulled away, her fur still stained in tears. "I must. I couldn't forgive myself if any of you were hurt. I know your strong and so our kits, but this is different. This is something that only I can protect you from."
"Yu von't doo it aloone." called a voice from behind them. Bes ran towards them with Jørgen clinging to his back. He skidded to a stop kicking up snow. "Ai'm gooing too."
"You will not!" Sekhmet mewed firmly while her eyes were wet. "Your staying here with your father and brother. You have no idea what's truly out there."
"Den teach me. Yur bloood floows troogh me veins. Yu can't doo everryting by yurself." Bes mewed back just as firmly.
Fenris felt like he was in stormy waters with no way out. Either both his son and mate left, or his mate left alone to face who knows what. All he could do was plead. "Neiter oof yu doold leave."
Jorgen fell off his brother's back and then clinger like a vice to his mother's foreleg.
"Your my son, it's my job as a mother to protect you." Sekhmet mewed firmly once again while gently to convince Jørgen to let go. She completely ignored her mate's plea.
"N yur me mood'r! Ai'm oold enoogh too defend meself, n Ai already have dealt vit fights at de tavern. Ai'm gooing noo matter vhat." Bes stated confidently, he was as determined and stubborn as his mother was.
Sekhmet gave in. "Alright, but you will do everything I say." She then looked down at Jørgen still clinging to her. "Good bye my little guardian." She looked up at her mate. "Don't tell him about me, he deserves a normal life."
Fenris reluctantly nodded as he gently pulled him off and kept the kit close with his tail. He looked defeated as he nuzzled Sekhmet despite his head being larger than hers. The two mates stayed like that for some time. "Farevell me valkyrie." He mewed sorrowfully before looking to Bes as well. "Farevell me son. Please survive, boot oof yu."
Sekhmet licked her kit's fur and whispered something while looking pained in doing so, causing Jørgen to have a slight cloudy look in his eyes. She then looked sadly into her mate's eyes. "We will, and I will make sure that we will be one family again someday. That is my promise, my love." Sekhmet mewed as she turned to leave.
"Farevell Fad'r, Farevell little broo. Ai'll take care oof Mood'r." Bess mewed in parting as he joined his mother and both were enveloped in white.
Fenris sat there for a while staring at where the two cats used to be. He then looked down at his youngest son. "Ai'm soorry Yørgen, Ai'm soo soorry." He cried many more tears before picking up Jorgen in his mouth and depressively walking home.
Jorgen looked up with sad eyes glowing blue, reptilian pupils at their center.
