Brazil and Natalia

Eric's POV:

We woke up early next morning and broke camp. In reality there wasn't much we needed to do since our partners' wings acted as tents for us.

"So...Where are we going next?"

"We're going south. Maybe to the US, or all the way down to Latin America." Valerie replied.

I'd noticed that Raven really didn't talk much. I wondered why. We'd spent a couple of weeks planning everything, but I still hadn't learned much about her. We finished packing everything, and mounted our dragons. They took off with ease, and turned south, heading towards The States. We crossed the border in no time at all, and soon, were flying over Yellowstone. I looked down, a smile on my face. This place was so special to me now. It was where I'd found Gopurk's egg, and where this amazing journey had started.

"Is this where you found Gopurk's egg?" Valerie asked. "I remembered you saying something about Yellowstone."

"Yes it is. Seeing it again brings back so many memories."

"Yes. I understand the feeling." Raven agreed, with a weird tone that I couldn't place.

I was surprised, but I guess that Amethyst must have been even more special to her, though I couldn't think why.

We landed close to the Mexican border for lunch and unpacked some sanwiches. It felt extremely good to stretch my  legs, since my bottom felt like an aspirin. That was something my mom always said. I streched, as if I were doing so after practice. We decided to rest a while, as none of us were used to long hours of flying on our dragons. We talked about ourselves a while, and Valerie and Raven proposed a Q&A game, that they had played with one of their friends before.

"After all this, How am I going to keep on training track?"I needed to know, and I chided myself for not asking sooner.

"Our school has a track team, but you will have to wait until we get back."

"All right." I said, disappointed. I was going to lose so much time. At this rate, I'd take forever to get to the Olympics.

We mounted a few minutes later, and kept on heading south. We passed over Mexico, and the rest of Central America, but we showed no sign of stopping.

" how do you know if there isn't a Rider all the countries we've passed?" I wondered aloud.

"Our dragons would have been able to sense their  aura, and would have told us."

"Oh, I didn't know that."

"That is how Isaldrí and Amethyst found Gopurk in the first place." Raven remarked. "We only found you after Gopurk told them to tell us where to find you."

We flew for a few more hours. When we passed the border between Columbia and Brazil, Gopurk spoke.

" I sense something. Brazil is a big country, so it'll take some time to look."

"Oh, now you talk to me." I said, annoyed. "Can't  you pinpoint the location better?"

"I'll try, but it'll probably be easier for Isaldrí or Amethyst, since they've been using this longer.  They told me that before coming, they used to play a kind of hide and seek, where they had to use their sense to find each other."

"That is so cool." I commented.

"Yes. It is."

"Hey Eric! Valerie shouted. "If you don't know, our dragons sensed the Rider. They should be somewhere in Brazil. We need to get closer to get better intel."

"Ok." I agreed.

"Ready?"

"I'm always ready!"

Gopurk dived, and I leaned flat on his back. I loved this sensation. I spied Valerie and Raven doing the same on their own dragons. They shot past me and Gopurk, and logically, I pushed him to go faster. However, Isaldrí and Amethyst beat us. They leveled out close to the ground, and after a few seconds, Valerie spoke.

"Isaldrí says that we have to head to the southeast region. The Rider probably lives in either Rio, São Paulo, or Belo Horizonte."

"All right."

We flew in silence, each of us with our own thoughts. I was getting bored, when I spied a city skyline on the horizon.

"We're almost there. I'm not sure what city it is, but we should land soon, to avoid being seen." I shouted over the roaring wind.

Gopurk, Amethyst and Isaldrí dived, and soon, the three of us Riders were dismounting and stretching our legs.

"Go see if you can find the dragon. If you can't, send us a message, and we'll keep on searching." Raven told the dragons.

Hey took off again, rising to see if they could find what were possible places for a dragon to hide. Now, I could see the famous Rio Statue, Cristo Redentor. We headed in opposite direction than the dragons, going into the city itself. It was a Sunday, so we decided to check the places where people usually gathered, like the football (soccer) stadium, the beaches, and some clubs we had found online.

It was getting late, so we decided to go back to our dragons, and keep searching the city tomorrow. We met up where they had left us, and we set up camp. It wasn't really uncomfortable as you would think it would be, and it was actually nice to be able to be free from my normal responsibilities for awhile.

We woke up the next morning and had a quick breakfast. It was Monday, so today we would be checking the schools. A while into the search, Gopurk contacted me.

"We found the dragon. His name is Silva. I'll send you the location."

"Ok." Seconds later, I was receiving directions to Silva's Rider's school.

We arrived there, and coincidentally it was recess time for the students. Gopurk told me that Silva had contacted his Rider, and that they should be meeting us at the entrance in a few minutes. Soon, a pretty girl came up to us. She was an average height, taller than me, had curly dark brown hair, that reached to her elbows, and grey eyes, but they weren't stormy or piercing, as one would expect. Her skin was tanned, and she had a few freckles, sprinkled throughout.

"Hello, my name is Natalia Covelho. I heard you were looking for me." She introduced herself. She had a slight accent, but her pronunciation was very good.

"My name is Valerie Jackson, and these are Raven Sabbatini and Eric Whitney. We were looking for you because you are a Dragon Rider, just like us."

"That was unexpected. How do you know?"

"Raven and me recently found out that the Riders of old hid twelve eggs around the world, in the case that the order disappeared. As for how we found you, well our dragons are able to sense the general area another dragon is in. Amethyst, Isaldrí and Gopurk are with Silva right now. He was the one that told us where to find you."

"Now I understand. Could you please explain more about this?"

"Sure." I agreed. "Do you think you can meet us with Silva this afternoon?"

"Yes of course. I'll see you there."

We started walking back, following the directions that our dragons had given us to find the place where they were.

"Well, that went better than last time." Raven said. "We had to make up a whole excuse for it."

"I know, it was so much easier." Valerie commented.

We talked about life in general while we waited for Natalia to arrive. She finally did, and Valerie and Raven launched into the story of the Riders. I came in, telling her how I had found Gopurk.

"We want to gather all twelve Riders to start rebuilding the order. Their purpose was to help bring peace and conserve it." Raven finished.

"I think that is a wonderful thing to do. How would this work?"

Well first, we have to make a simple saddle like Eric's, we can train a little, so you get used to flying, and finally we have to ask your parents' permission. I assume that you haven't told them, so if that is the case, we can tell them that you will have a scholarship in Canada. Once we go back, you can go to school there, and I imagine that we will build a place for the dragons to stay more permanently, where the Riders can also stay. While it is in construction, you could probably stay with either me, Raven or our friend, Anne, that also knows about the Riders."

"Ok." She agreed.

"Can you tell us your story?"

"Well, I do geocaching, and one day, I was looking for the next clue, when I saw Silvia's egg on the ground. I took it home, and a few hours later he hatched. I haven't flown with him yet, as I figured that those scales would hurt, and I haven't figured out how to protect myself."

"It seems we are going to have a real assortment of interests in this group."

"True."

Over the next week, we made the saddle, trained together and fixed logistics about what we were going to do next. It had taken shorter than when they came to get me, but we already knew how to do things. Finally, we were ready. Natalia had asked her parents, and they had given her permission. We were leaving in the morning, and I had the suspicion that our next stop would be in Europe.
