Chapter 2 ------ Waterfall

Starting up in the morning was something that was most hardest. After all Rose was very tired. She still had a bunch of courage and determination. She knew she could do it. She didn't need any help. She was strong enough.

"Hey its okay Bumblebee. It will all be alright. We are doing this for my father. Our home. We'll teach those dragons who's boss." She calmed down her horse. Talking to him with a soft calming voice.

She then got up on his back; securing her bags on him. With one small kick Bumblebee started to run away from her once thriving village. She knew just where to go next. In order to find the dragon king; she needed his squire.

The last person or should she say fairy she knew that worked for him was named Kalek. Her father told her countless stories about him. He always stole diamonds and jewels from mountains and villages. He was more like a trouble maker than an important person, but she needed to find him anyway. Even if she had to force him to take her there.

She rode through the forest and across the wet lands. On and on she rode until she reached the other side of the mountains. She soon arrived to a waterfall. On the other side of this waterfall was the fairy village.

Jumping off her horse she braced herself; walking into the water. It was a dark cave with fading blue Lilly flowers on the sides of the cave. When she reached the other side it was like the whole place looked like it was night fall. Shimmering little lights floated everywhere. Dragon flies flew close to the pond. While tall weeping willow trees grew near by. In the middle of all this beauty was the beautiful peaceful fairy village. The castle was close by on top of the hill little hill that over looked the village. She walked around the tiny town so she didn't disturb anything.

As soon as Rose got to the castle she knocked on the door. The castle was thankfully her size. She looked up and down it as she waited. Soon the butler answered. He tilted his glasses down as if to be concerned. Then he cleared his voice before speaking.

"Hello. What is it you need? Do you have an appointment to see the King and Queen?"

"No I do not." She replied sternly.

"Well then you don't need to be here. The King and Queen are busy at the moment. Come back another time."

"Wait---I am trying to find someone. Can you help me?"

He looked around then back at her and sighed, "Who is it you're tying to look for"

"I'm looking for a fairy named Kalek. It is said he can take me to see the Dragon King."

His gaze automatically turns alert and angry. "We don't deal with traitors and thieves. Now get out of this kingdom. Go back to your village little girl."

"No please don't kick me out. I really need to find him. I need to help get to the Dragon K—"

"Go now. Or else I'll call the guards."

"No I'm not leaving. I need to find him." Rose stands her ground.

"That's it. Guards!! Get her out. Now." He calls out.

Soon the guards try to grab her, but she ducks out of the way. She runs away as the guards come at her with their swords. As soon as she reaches the other side of the waterfall; she trips and falls into the pool of water. The guards stand at the entrance not letting her back in.

Rose bursts out from under the water gasping for air. She then climbs out and coughs. Bumblebee nuzzles her to get up. She grabs onto his saddle and proceeds to stand. Bumblebee helps her up on him then starts to trot off.

"Hey. Where are we going?" She coughs more.

Bumblebee walks into a little clearing. In the middle of the clearing is a beautiful white horse with a long magical horn on its forehead. Rose slides off her horse and walks slowly to it. The unicorn's head rises up from the ground and looks down at Rose. Rose stops.

As soon as Rose stays still; the unicorn walks forward to her. Then stops lowering it's head for her to pet it. She pets the unicorn.

"Hey there. I've never met a unicorn before."

I'm certain you haven't because you haven't met me. I'm the only one of my kind. My name is Teahe. The last unicorn. It's a pleasure to meet you.

"Whoa you can talk?" Rose stops petting her and steps back.

"Well not in person, but you can talk in my head?" Rose keeps asking questions.

Teahe laughs, Yes I can talk, but only those who are willing to listen.

"That's amazing. I've never talked to a creature before."

You're looking for Kalek is that correct?

"Yes I am. How did you know?"

I can read your mind. I know where he is. I know where to find him.

"You do?" Rose gives Teahe a questioning look.

Yes I do. I can help you find him and the Dragon King. If you want.

"That's a nice offer, but I think I'm going to have to pass on that. I want to find him on my own. So I can get to the Dragon's lair and kill him. I'll be fine on my own."

Suit yourself, but remember nothing is as it seems to be. Your journey will be affected by your decisions now. So choose wisely. With that Teahe slowly walks away back into the forest. Rose does not hesitate to leave. She gets back onto Bumblebee and rides away.

The Journey goes on farther than expected. Every time Rose stops at a village and asks for Kalek; he isn't there. It turns out that almost all villages hate him. She gets to this one village off by the seashore and stays there for a while trying to find him. She searches books and even spell books, but still no trace of him. After months of no progress she almost gives up.

After sitting by the riverbank that night she finds a sliver left of determination to get back on Bumblebee and arrive at the Elf kingdom. But first she has to cross the forbidden swamp. She asks two previously elves that use to live in the elf kingdom; where to go.

"Don't go through the forbidden swamp. Its very dangerous. Far dangerous above anything else in all Kingdoms." One elf tells her.

But Rose does not listen. She goes through the Forbidden swamp. She shrugs off the idea of how dangerous it is. "What could ever go wrong in here. Its just a swamp."

It wasn't just any swamp. The place was covered in dead rickety trees. Misty fog surrounded the swamp waters as the smell of old moldy moss was everywhere. It didn't seem to phase Rose though. For she keep walking through the swamp. All of the sudden Bumblebee stands up on his hind legs noticing he's stuck in watery sand. He continues to cry out stuck in the quick sand. Rose holds onto him in panic.

"Someone help! Please help us!" Rose yells.

They start to sink further into the sand. Rose gets off of Bumblebee, but gets stuck in the sand as well. Suddenly an elf pulls her out just in time. Rose holds on the person who saves her.

"Bumblebee no. No he's going to drown." She cries as Bumblebee sinks all the way down into the sand.

"No...It can't be." She cries.

The elf holds her close trying to comfort her.

"Hey shhh its going to be alright. He'll be with you."

His voice is soft and soothing. Rose looks up at him with tearful eyes.

"He's all gone isn't he." More tears start to form in her eyes.

"He isn't going to be gone forever. He'll come back. You just need to stay calm. We need to start heading out of this dangerous place." The elf replies as he whips her tears away.

"Who are you?" she asks.

"No time for that now. We need to hurry." He shifts into a black stallion.

"Come on lets go. Get on me. We need to go now." As soon as he is done speaking a volcano erupts near by. She quickly gets on him and rides out of the swamp.

They continue to ride through the forest and back through the meadow. She climbs off him when he stops by a stream. He shifts back into an elf. She can hear the tall grass swaying in the breeze as she looks up at the dark night sky.

"So who are you?" Rose looks back at him.

"My name is Prince Koal. I'm the Prince from the Elf Kingdom. I am on a mission to expand my land. While I went by the swamp I heard you and your horse. I came to save you."

Rose looks down at the ground. "I can't believe how stupid I was for not listening to those elves in the first place." She tears up again.

"Hey no don't cry its okay. People make mistakes. Its how life is. Its how life is meant to be. All you can do is forgive yourself and move on." He raises her chin up and dries her tears again.

"I'll go get some fire wood and we can make a camp here to rest for the night. Does that sound okay?" he asks her. She nods.

He begins to walk away and quickly come back with some wood. He makes a fire and lays down on the cool grass.

He yawns, "What's your name?"

"My name is Rose. I'm trying to find a fairy boy named Kalek so he can take me to the Dragon King."

"Why do you need to see the Dragon King?"

"To take revenge on him for killing my father and my whole village."

"Oh okay. That makes sense, but aren't you going to talk to the King first. Maybe you can make an agreement. To fight with peace not war?"

Rose sits up from the grass. "No. I say he needs to step down. A life for a life. A kingdom for a kingdom."

Koal sits up as well. "Well then you're going to need some help. May I help? I can lend you some of my men and we can fight the King."

"No I must do this on my own. Its my journey. I will leave tomorrow morning."

With that Rose turns around and lays back down. Closing her eyes she drifts to sleep.
