Little orange butterflies fluttered around my head, some landing in my straight blonde hair.
I looked around at the beautiful creatures, squinting from the bright light that shone from the sun.
"Aren't You'se lovely." I whispered.
My gaze turned to a black crow that sat angrily on a tree branch. The branch was fresh and covered in moss and leaves that had fallen from the branch above it.
"Cranky?"
My eyes snapped open quickly, I found myself in bed. My covers and pillows under me, and in my day clothes. Cranky stared at me from the bed post. I huffed. "Would you stop staring at me when I'm sleeping." I pushed myself up so I was sitting, with my head titled to the right, looking straight at the crow.
"Your interfering with my dreams." I said, turning my head to look out the window.
"Hm, it was only just sunset maybe half an hour ago." I said, more to myself than anyone else.
"Wait..." I said slowly.
"Sunset!" Pushed myself off the bed with a powerful push of my arms.
I put out my arm and allowed Cranky to climb onto it. "Thanks boy."
I ran out of my room, and straight out the door. I wasn't sure animals were as intelligent or observant as people, and I wasn't sure if Cranky knew that he just done a favour for me, or if he just felt like staring at me. But it sues felt like he done it on purpose.
Cranky opened his wings and took off. "Cranky! Get back her-" I started before I bumped into someone.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." I quickly said.
But honestly I wouldn't have said that if I knew who she was.
Her dark blue silk dress blew gently in the sunset wind. The top of the dress and the sleeves were lase, only something the wealthy owned. It was extremely hard to make a lase dress. I tried making one for my mother once on her birthday, years ago, I did succeed, but it coated a lot of gold and took more than a month of none stop working. Nasty work they are. I never looked at lase the same after that. But the upside is, that every year on my mothers birthday she wears it.
Till this day she still shows it off to her friends.
But anyways, back to this girls dress.
It had a golden belt like ring around the waste of the dress, and at the front was two little feathers. These feathers were the symbol of our tribe. That meant only the Chief, his wife or offspring can wear these two feathers on their clothes.
So this girl, was the Chiefs daughter.
I looked up at her face that I hated seeing. Her hair was pulled back into a tight horse tail. And her lips were unnaturally red, and her eyes were brown like her hair.
"Bella." I sighed, trying my best to not sound like I hated her presence.
"Lian." She said in a fake sweet voice.
"And where are you going Missy? Hm?" She asked.
I looked behind her and saw her two friends. Both of which I hated equally, except Bella, I hated her the most.
One of her friends, the older out of the two, was Liliath. Liliath was seventeen, one year older than me, one year younger than Bella, and two years older than Bella's other friend.
She wore and green and yellow dress, and her earrings were made of pure gold. She was also one of the wealthier woman in the village.
And than there was Asher. She wasn't wealthy like Liliath and Bella, she was the same as me, not rich not poor.
In fact I'd say my family had a bit more money than hers.
She wore a plain red dress that ended at her shoulders, blonde wavey hair, and she always kept a big pink flower in her hair. She was fifteen, but she acted younger if you ask me. She is awfully cheerful and touchy for her age in my opinion.
"I said, where are you going?" Bella asked, now serious. Her face was straight but threatening.
"Hey Bell! Look at this!" Asher exclaimed in usual high pitched, loud, cheerful voice.
I looked to where her index finger pointed. This can't be good.
"Closed shoes!?" Bella gasped, lifting her hand to her mouth.
"And what would you need closed shoes for?" She asked.
"That's none of your business." I growled. Bella grinned evilly. "My dad will hear about this. A girl, going out at night, with closed shoes. What are you going hunting?" Bella huffed.
"Look at her clothes, girls!" Liliath laughed.
Asher grabbed my dress sleeve and pulled it to show the others the soil stain it had gotten last night.
"Gross!" They all said in sync.
Asher pulled her hand to her mouth and tried to stop a laugh from escaping her mouth.
"Is that, blood!" She grabbed the back of my dress that was covered in dried blood from my legs wound.
All the while they were pulling and commenting on my clothes, I was trying to escape their grasp, but I mean, three against one, you can't expect me to win.
"She had a rip in her dress! Seriously you look like a jungle girl!" Bella laughed, pulling at the rip in my dress, just behind my wound I got from the sabers claws. When she said jungle girl, she meant like the people who are tribe-less, leaderless, lived up in the trees with animals, kind of like Axel.
You could also use Jungle woman, jungle man and jungle boy.
Right now, Bella was using it as an insult, to me and to jungle girls that is.
"Leave me alone!" I hissed, trying unsuccessfully to push them off me.
"Look at her hair!"
"Look at her clothes!"
"Disgusting!"
My blood boiled in my veins, I didn't want to hurt them, because they were, or at least Bella and Liliath were from some of the wealthy families. Bella being the chiefs daughter, and Liliath being the chiefs best friends daughter. This meant if I ever hurt them, I'd be in serious trouble. I might not ever be in a hunt again. I might never be able to get away with the things I get away with now.
That's what scared me. That I couldn't hurt them, or mine and maybe even my parents lives could go down hill for a good long while.
"Get off me you freaks! Shouldn't you be at your tea party, or maybe working around the house like a servant!" I hissed, pushing Asher off me as she attempted to pull my bow.
"Huh!" Bella huffed and the other two broke into a fit of laughter.
"You think your tough? You think you can hurt me?" Bella spoke into my ear. My head pounded with anger and my hands shook with anticipation.
Bella pulled away from my face, and looked me directly in the eyes.
"But even your smarter than that Lian." She grinned. "You know what will happen if you hurt any of us. Especially me."
My anger grew and a adrenaline began. Don't fight her, don't fight her, don't fight her.
Everything seemed to go in slow motion. Bella's mouth moved slowly, and her words scraped my ears.
"You... Can't... Touch ... Me..."
My heart felt as if it would explode in rage and fury. Before I could think, my fist crashed into the side of her face, making her head fly back.
She tumbled over backwards, landing against a tree.
The four of us went silent. What have I just done. Liliath and Asher ran to Bella's side. "Bella?" Liliath called.
Bella's eyes opened and her hand rubbed the side of her head, which was now a big lump. "Come on, Bella, let's get you back to your dad." Asher said. Bella squinted in pain as she let her two friends help her to her feet.
Now that they're not looking, now's my chance. I bolted into away, running as fast as I could.
My legs couldn't take much more running yet. My left, and injured leg was feeling surprisingly okay, which the healer told me would happen.
She said the herbs she put on the wound would make it feel surprisingly better for the first day or so, just so the wound would have some time to heal, but after that it would definitely be painful, but not as much as it would've been.
I stopped to catch my breath. I leaned over, my hands on my knees, panting heavily. I turned my head to look around me. I didn't have a clue where I was.
🐉
After, say, ten minutes, I found a place where I had recognized from when me and Axel were coming back to my village. After that it wasn't so hard to remember my way, it took me about twenty minutes to arrive at Axel's place. It made the trip a lot harder since it was pitch black at the moment. I stood in front of the large tree house, the cold night air hit my bare hands. The bright almost full moon was my only torch. I could hear little animals and insects talking in the trees. Bats flew about making screeching noises. The tall grass tickled my legs and hands.
I put my left hand on the cold bark of the tree, looking to my destination, I began to climb.
