I pressed my ear on the door, trying to hear what they were saying.
"Come on Lila and Dame, this is ridiculous!" Leo yelled, frustration clear.
"I could change your daughter, I could make her the girl you always wanted." Leo said.
Lila, my mother, hissed "she's exactly how we want her! I won't let you take my butterfly!" Butterfly was the nickname my parents always called me.

"Leave Leo, we don't want this. Go find someone who cares." Dame, my father said. "I'm doing you a favor! If you let me do this, I can make her be perfect like the other girls. I'm doing this, with or without you!" Leo growled, he must've stood up, because I heard some shuffling around, and saw a shadow coming closer from under the door.

"Fine. Ask her. This might be what she wants." Mother sobbed.
I thought this might be the right time to walk in. I wrapped my hands around the nob, and pushed open the door.
Leo was standing right in front of me when I walked in. Alright, time to get some answers, I thought.
"Hey Lian." Leo said in a gentle voice.
I looked past him at mother who sat with a red face with dried tears on it, she smiled and wiped them away, and at my father, who smiled at me as he sat.

I looked back at Leo who was still staring at me. "What." I said impolitely.
Leo reached into his pocket and pulled out a little round box, about the size of my pinky finger. My eyes flicked from Leo, to mother, to father, to the box, to Leo and to the box again.
"Take it." Leo said, a little amused as my eyes flicked around the room.
I slowly reached my hand out and grabbed the box. I looked at Leo, brought it to my chest, and opened it. I slowly moved my head to look down at the open box. What I found in there, shocked me, more than I can express.

Inside the box. Was a ring. He wanted me to marry him? So he could change me! My hands began shaking as all different emotions washed through me.
My hands shook so much the box and ring fell from my hands onto the stone floor.

I looked up at Leo who looked at me with confusion and a touch of amusement.
"You. Y-you.." I couldn't form my words, so I decided to stay silent for a moment.
I glared at Leo, all I could see was red, ad my pulse began to get faster and faster as I became enraged.
My fist flew from my sides and smashed into his face, making him fly back against the stone wall. My mother gasped and my father stood up in surprise.

I walked up to him and threw the box and ring at him after I scooped it up.
"You don't love me!" I hissed. "You dare ask me to marry you? When you don't even love me! You want to change me!?
And worse, you! " I grabbed him by the throat and lifted him up to his feet.
"You made a tear, fall from my mothers eyes, then you have the nerve to ask me this!?" I yelled. I dragged him to the door.
"You just ruined our friendship. I will never change." I said, my gaze piercing through his fear filled eyes.
"Don't ever let me see you again." I growled an threw him outside, slamming the door.

I turned around to see my parents staring at me wide eyed. I stormed towards my room, entering it and throwing myself on my bed.
Did he seriously have the nerve, to enter my house, force my parents to let him ask me, made my mother cry, then asked my to marry him, so that way he can change me? He doesn't love me for who I am. I thought he was my only friend.

I reached into my pocket and pulled out Oak. "I guess it's just you and me buddy." I whispered. After a long moment of staring into its wooden eyes, I spoke.
"You think I over reacted?" I asked.
I thought back to what I done, I felt like a monster. I sighed and slid Oak into my pocket once more. "Thanks for your advice Oak." I whispered, closing my eyes, and drifting to sleep.

🐉

I awoke to the sound of birds chirping, as usual. "Stop chirping!" I yelled, burying my face in my pillow. That same crow landed on my window, making intimating noises. "I'm trying to sleep! The early bird gets he worm, but I don't eat worms!" I hissed. The bird flew through the window and landed on my bed post.
I lifted my face from my pillow, and spoke. "Get out of my room you grumpy old bird." I mumbled. The crow flapped his wings and puffed out his chest.

I sat up straight in my bed, then leaned down, grabbing the half empty water bucket from under the bed. I washed my face and got ready as usual, then with the remaining water, I spilt it out the window. The crow eyed me curiously.
"You don't wanna leave my room little guy?" I asked. The crow hopped off the bed post, and onto my wooden bed.
"Than you can stay here 'till I get back." I grinned, dropping the bucket on top of the crow.

The crow squawked and banged the sides of the bucket. "There you go cranky, that's your new home, don't wreck anything while I'm out." I chuckled. I was so cruel, but I mean, if he didn't want to leave, I couldn't let him fly loose in the room and destroy everything.

I skipped out of my room and into the main room, where I saw mother and father chatting 'round a small table.
"G'morning." I said, giving them both a quick hug. "Good morning butterfly." They both said.

I skipped outside and kept on skipping until I was out of the village, and into the snowy forest. I pulled out from my pocket and looked at his wooden eyes.
"Hey little guy, how was your night?" I asked, and as you might assume, he didn't answer. "Pft, same as mine." I said.
"What you wanna do?"
"Nothing?"
"I kinda wanna do something.."
"Yeah your right, let's just keep on skipping. Good exercise." I tucked Oak into my pocket, a large smile was played across my face. It was a nice morning to go for a skip.

I skipped through the snowy forest, the snow crunching beneath my shoes.
The sound kept repeating for twenty minutes or so.
I stepped.
The snow crunched.
Step.
Crunch.
Step.
Crunch.
Step.
Crunch.
Step.
Crunch.
Crunch.
Step.
Crunch.

Wait. I paused. I was sure I head someone else crunch in the snow behind me. I snowy turned around, but nothing was there but trees. Whatever.

Step.
Crunch.
Step.
Crunch.
Crunch.

I quickly spun around this time, but again, nobody was there. Only my shoe prints marks the snow.
I frowned and continued, a bit slower now, and more alert.

Step.
Crunch.
Crunch.

I turned again, to see nothing but trees and snow, covered in my shoe prints and-
I stepped back clumsily backwards.
Two big brown things jumped from the shrubs and trees behind me, so fast it was just a blur of brown for me.

I yelped in terror and turned around, the two saber tooth tigers paws crunching the snow until it reached half way up their legs.

It's just two, I can outrun them, I told myself, before two more came from the shrugs and trees behind me.
They were surrounding me. Two sabers in front of me, two behind, and trees and shrubs blocking my way on both my sides.

All four sabers were gaining on me slowly, I stood still, knowing if I make any sudden moves I'd be done for.
I looked around for a way to escape, until soon I found it. There was a path in the trees, half covered up by bushes, so I guessed it hadn't been used in a long while. Either that, or it wasn't really a man made path, it just happened to be that no trees or tall grass was growing there.

I took a deep breath.
Three...
Two...
Now!

I jumped towards the path, the sabers snarling and running after me. My green dress got caught on a stick poking out of the ground. I yelped as I tripped and landed face first into the muddy snow.
I quickly got to my feet and saw my dress, caught so tight in the sticks.
I growled, and tore my dress from the sticks, leaving a big bite mark in the bottom of my dress.

I run like I never have through the trees and grass, at times the grass got so tall I couldn't see in front of me.
I heard the snarling and growling of the sabers behind me. One saber pounced from behind me but as I zig zagged to make it harder for them to get me, the saber troubled to the great, quickly getting back up without a scratch, and chasing me once more.
My zig zags began to get slower and slower, and my legs began to burn like fire, though it was so cold, sweat beads still formed on my face. The snow seemed to be getting harder to walk through as I went.

Come on, come on! Suddenly, something cold ran down the back of my leg, something sharp and big. Warm blood began to drip down the long cut that extended from just above my heal, to the back of my knee. I screamed in pain and fear. The sabers claw ripping my flesh was just a warning of how painful it would be if they caught me.

With a burst of adrenaline, I pushed forward, my leg burning with pain and pleading for me to stop.
I couldn't loose these animals!
But I had to keep going. My blood pulsed so hard in my head and chest, that it blocked out my hearing, and the sound of crunching snow disappeared. All I could hear was my blood furiously pounding on my head.

I ran faster than I ever have, through the forest. I'm going to die if I keep running! I told myself. Pulling my bow and a single arrow from my case, I knocked the arrow on the string, pulling it back. I needed perfect timing and aim. I didn't have the best aim. My village won't big archers. They only used hunting bows, which believe it or not, is nothing like a fighting bow.

Its weight, range, aim, and arrows are different for the most part. So, as hard as it was, I trained myself to use a fighting bow, but I wouldn't even call myself an archer yet.

Taking a deep breath, I forced my tensed muscles to relax so I could shoot. If I tensed too much, I would ruin my shot.
Ready...
Set...
I swallowed a lump in my throat.
Now or never...
Shoot!

I jumped in the air, and spun at the same time, even though it only took a second, I saw it all on slow motion.
The four sabers all leaping for me, claws out, snarling and their paw stretched out to slash me.

My fingers loosened around the arrow, before I let go, the arrow flying and wobbling in the air, the stone tip of the arrow, sharp as a sword, landed in the skull of the saber, a sickening crack told me, that the saber was finished.
All that happened in that one jump and spin that I had done, and now that I was facing forward again, my feet landed on the ground and I instantly kept running.

The death of that saber didn't seem to scare the others. Great, I thought, my words thick with disappointed sarcasm.

Just... A bit... Further!!
