Chapter 1: Her Gravestone

It was dawn. The sunlight just hitting the white ground. The chirping of birds were heard all around.

The snow grown, having a thin blanket of snow that was laid down last night. It had no footprints, indicating that no one has been here yet.

The lake, frozen and thick. That people could go skating. The trees were covered in snow, beautifully. Making it seem as if ice and sparkles were hugging the branches.

Standing at the entrance of the park, was a red-head. Her hazel eyes scan the area. She took a deep breath of the cool air.

She was covered up. A scarf around her neck and a thick sweater that hugged her body.

Behind her, stood a man with glasses. A bonnet covering his blond hair and a thick jacket warming him up.

They held hands as they walked through this peaceful and quiet place.

"Why are we here?" The man asked. "Because, this is where she is." The girl said quietly.

Ryan immediately shut his mouth. He knew she visited HER a lot but never really knew where she was buried.

There, behind the peaceful, frozen lake, was a graveyard. Graves that belonged to the people who died in battle in this place.

Where the girl, Nylah Light, was buried. Ryan and Clemintine walked to the place and looked down at her grave stone.

Clemintine felt numb. She would of cried. Except that she had no more tears. It's been months since Nylah died.

Many people died around her. Their broken hearts still broken by the piece of family that disappeared-No, STOLEN from them.

They mourn for her but still go on.

For her sake. She would've wanted that.

Clemintine was tired of crying but she still wanted to cry. She still hadn't apologized. She did, but she was only talking to a stone.

Or that's what she thought.

Ryan wrapped his arms around her waist as she leaned her head on his shoulder.

They stayed there for 30 minutes until they decided to go home. Ryan dropped Clemintine home and went to his house.

Both not saying a word.

Katarah's pov:

I groggily got up from my bed. It was 8:32am and I had to get ready for this place I had been wanting to go to.

I grabbed a sweater and some jeans. I put on a pair of boots and wrapped my satchel around my torso. I put on a scarf and a bonnet to warm myself and snuck out the door.

I decided to walk to enjoy the cool air. I wanted to go to Starbucks to get this new coffee they made.

Nylah was always so fond of sweets, food, coffee, and anything.

'I need to get a grip! I can't mourn any longer. Though I'll be very sad, Nylah would have told me to keep going.' I thought to myself.

I got to Starbucks in no time and entered in without thinking. I blinked and snapped myself out of my daydream.

I ordered the new coffee and sat at a table by the window. My warm breath hit the window, making it fog up a bit.

I made a smiley face and smiled as well. I looked around the cafe to see a few people in here.

A business man holding a cup of coffee in one hand and a phone in the other. He was speaking in a stern but quiet voice.

A woman and a child sat beside each other sharing a cup of hot chocolate and were playing rock, paper, scissors.

Lastly, a couple a few feet away were laughing and chatting away. I sighed and turned my gaze back at the window.

All I saw was white.

Just plain white everywhere.
