Bonus Chapter
A/N : I could not resist!!
Rain
Rain looked at the person who had made his life miserable for the better part of 2 years. Som looked like a parody of his old self, cringing backwards as Rain walked towards him. He wanted to laugh at the fear he saw in Som's eyes, but he wanted to make it worse. He was not here to sympathise or empathise with the man, he was here for retribution. Som struggled to sit straight and Rain was amused at his attempt at bravado. Rain pulled his knife out and kept it on Som's cheek and trailed it down, enjoying the way his eyes wheeled madly. "P'Som," Rain said softly, enjoying the shudders that went through Som. "I am going to be asking some questions. If you are honest, maybe, I will let you go," he said. Som nodded frantically. "You really thought you could get away with touching me?" Rain asked complacently, the tip of the knife still on Som's face.
Som blubbered something and Rain leaned forward. "I don't think I quite caught that," he said, the tip piercing slightly into skin. Som screamed in pain. "Just this, and you are ready to shit your pants? Did you ever think about what I felt when I got this?" Rain asked, pointing to his scar. "You looked for two of the worst people you could find so that they could do worse to me, and you scream with so little?" "I.. I.. I di.. dn't.. know.." Som said, his breath raggedy and shivering. Rain laughed, contempt clinging to it. "You.. didn't know? You hired two fucking monsters to rape and kill me so that you could brand me a slut and You. Fucking. Didn't. Know?" Rain jabbed his knife into Som's face, ensuring he didn't cut skin. "I told you not to lie to me Phi," Rain said, his eyes hard. Som shook his head, tears pouring freely down his eyes.
"One last chance," Rain said. "He.. Jack.. Jack said.. then Bank. Jack wanted..," Som trailed off as he broke into a fit of coughing. Rain picked up a glass of water and brought it towards Som, who reached forward eagerly, stopping with a jerk when he realised his hands were still tied. Rain brought it closer, almost till his lips, then pulled the glass back and splashed the water on his face. Som spluttered and Rain's knife was back on his face. "You talk first," Rain said. "Jack wanted to.. to.." Som said. "To what?" Rain shouted. "He wanted to rape you!" Som shouted back. Rain looked at him and nodded. "That was pretty obvious. Why though? Did you ask him to?" he asked. "I.. I.." Som stuttered again. "I what??" Rain got closer into his face, as Som flinched back.
"I didn't ask. He always targeted you!" Som screamed, as Rain traced his jaw with the knife. "Hmm.. last question. Why the fuck do you hate me so much?" Rain asked. "You are nothing.." Som trailed off when Phayu and Vegas came in. "You were saying?" Phayu asked, as he and his father leaned casually against the door, watching Rain work, identical smiles of pride glittering on their faces. "He.. he.." Rain jumped back as Som relieved himself. "Yuck! Asshole!" Rain said, as he slapped Som's head with a casual backhand. Som's head snapped back. "He what? You hated him for one solved problem? Are you fucking out of your mind?" Phayu asked, as Rain stood to the side. "He would have become popular!" Som screeched, out of his mind with frenzy. Rain shook his head as he began circling Som, flipping his knife through the air, and catching it like a pro. "I pity you Phi. I don't know; I may or may not have become popular. But you? You are definitely going down in the annals of the University for being the stupidest person in the world. You honestly didn't realise that Bank sold you off to the people you paid to rape me?" Rain asked, sarcasm dripping from his tone.
Som blubbered further, incomprehensible words falling from his lips as Rain's knife was back on his throat. "You are fucking dead Phi, but it won't be my weapon that will end you. Let the real vultures get you. An eye for an eye makes the whole world fucking blind Phi, that is why I am not going to let my family be the one that plucks yours. But trust me when I say this. Once you get out of here, remember and bear it in mind. I am not someone you would want cross again. Am I fucking clear?" Rain hissed. Som nodded, his eyes on the three men in front, the stench of fear and defeat clinging on him in spades.
Chan
Chan stared at the boy in front of him; trying to find similarities between himself and Rain. He had clearly understood, as the whole family and the guards had watched him take Som to task, that Rain was born to be part of the Theerpanayakuls. He may have his grandmother's looks and mannerisms, but he clearly had Chan's own temperament. He had dealt with Som with such singular lack of compunction, that the most seasoned warriors amongst them had bowed their head in front of the master. He had seen the absolute pride on the faces of the men he worked for, and it made him so happy. Although he did not have any hand in Rain's upbringing, he knew that the boy was smart and self-reliant.
"I should begin with an apology most likely," Chan said. "Why?" Rain looked puzzled. "Because somehow I feel that it is all my fault. I should have tried harder to look for Pensri," Chan said, a bit of his shame eking through. "P'Chan..," Rain trailed off and paused for a minute. "Thaa," he said and Chan could feel his eyes filling with tears. "You don't have to be sorry. It's just about circumstances. No one can actually blame anyone. However," Rain paused, staring into the distance and Chan watched as he collected himself. "However, Thaa, I would like to say that I have decided not to talk to your daughter and her husband. I don't think I am quite ready to forgive them yet," Rain said. Chan nodded decisively.
"Rain, I completely understand where you are coming from. And believe me when I say this. You have my full backing, as well as of the family. Whatever decision you will take will be the absolute final," Chan said. "Are you sure Thaa?" Rain asked and Chan nodded. "Thaa, I promise you, I will not stop you from meeting your daughter, but I will not be acknowledging them as parents. Also, don't worry. I won't make you tell them. I will tell them myself, okay?" Rain said. Chan was impressed by the young man in front of him. Venice was very lucky to have him in his life and so was Chan!
Thankhun
"Rain, I know you don't want to meet your parents yet. But have you decided to talk to them?" Vegas asked, as the whole family sat almost 6 months after Rain's discharge from the hospital. Som and the others had been taken care of, and no one had bothered to check if they were even dead or alive. Everyone knew however that they would not dare to come back and hurt Rain anyway. Rain twisted his ring around his finger. "Yes Dad, I have. In fact, P'Phayu spoke to P'Mhok and asked him to set up a meeting. We will be going there after Uni tomorrow," Rain replied. "Rain, I must say, you really turned out to be the bigger man. If I were in your place, I would meet them only when it was time to close the lid of the coffin," Khun said, as Kinn spat out the water he had just drunk. Rain snorted with laughter, setting everyone else also off. "Khun Nu!" Pete hissed. "What? Am I not right? Look, can I be honest here?" Khun said. "When are you not Phi?" Macau asked, shaking his head.
"I empathise with a young 17 year old girl, who found herself at the cross roads of life. She was pregnant, and the man she loved was gone without a word. I agree she did the best thing she thought possible. But Aroon did come back. They did reconcile. They got together, got married, started a company together, basically lived in each other's pockets. But not once did she bother to tell Aroon that they had a child together. They decided to have another child without ever looking back on the child they already had," Khun was vehement in his viciousness. "Uncle Khun," Rain said, and Khun immediately turned to him. Rain got up from where he was sitting with Phayu and knelt at Khun's feet. "I am actually really, really glad they didn't Uncle," he said, his sincerity clear.
"Aww baby! Why do you say that? Aren't you even a little bit sad?" Khun asked, worry creasing his brows. "Uncle," Rain said, cupping Khun's face. "If they had found me, taken me back, how would I have had my Sky? How would I have met you all? Have you thought of that? You are all the family I need. You all have given Sky and me more than everything of what we could not even have imagined. You accepted us, all of you, but you especially Uncle! The way you encouraged me, the way you pushed me, I don't think I could have ever done it without you. Every time I try something new, you are the one who made me to try it all out. I had the confidence to do and try everything behind the lens of my camera, but you all made me confident to try them all in real life too."
Khun looked into the eyes of the boy he had loved like a son from the day he had stepped into their world. He lifted Rain up. "I am proud of you Rainy. You have the sweetest and the most amazing heart and soul. And us, all of us, will remain proud of you for the rest of our lives. And today I formally announce that Rain is my son. As is Sky. As for you both idiots, you are lucky my babies gave you the time of the day. You better take care of both of them, otherwise I am coming after you with a machete. And believe me when I say, no one will put me in jail. I am crazy after all," Khun said, preening with happiness, as everyone burst out into laughter at the appalled look on Phayu and Pai's face.
Sky
Sky stood up and tapped on his raised glass. "Attention everyone!" All the guests turned to look at him. "I know that since Rain and I are getting married on the same day, we did away with the whole best man thing. But there are some things I do want to say as a best friend's privilege. Under normal circumstances, Rain will never let me say them, but right now, he is sitting far enough from me to not be able to stop me," Sky said, looking at his best friend. He could see the slightly panicked look on Rain's face, but also saw how P'Phayu stroked his hand down Rain's back, calming him down. He smiled to himself. Who would have thought?
"Rain and I have been together since the time I can remember, bound by a strangely similar fate. I was a slightly ill child most of the time, and Rain was my protector. He loved me, cared for me, and supported me unconditionally. When we were 11, he even got scarred for me. Although he never mentioned it, there was a small part of me that was always guilty. When we got admitted into Chula, and he told me that he had a crush on P'Phayu, I felt so happy. I had already met P'Pai, and I wanted the same happiness for my best friend. Then I realised the importance P'Phayu had in our faculty. I was miserably afraid that he had the power to hurt the one person in my life who could never feel that pain. I wanted to keep Rain safe. I never wanted him to feel sad, or rejected or dejected. I wanted him to grow and blossom and shine. So I kept saying that P'Phayu was out of his league."
"Does that make me selfish? For trying to protect my friend? Maybe it does. And I am okay to wear that badge with honour. But P'Phayu, you want to know the absolute truth? It was not you who was out of Rain's league. It was Rain who was out of your league. And still is, if I may be honest. Rain is someone beyond compare, beyond all the good things of the world. He is my shining star, the one who has never let me down. Phi, Rain, and many others over here, may think how lucky Rain is; because he has you in his life, someone coveted and admired by everyone. People may say how someone like Rain ended up with someone like you. But in all sincerity, they are wrong. It is you who doesn't really deserve my Rain. You are lucky he gave you a chance, because if I were in his shoes, you would be still begging for mercy." Snickers went around at that!
"However, all that apart, I just want to raise a toast to the bestest friend a person can have. Rain, you are my biggest strength, my most effervescent happiness, my greatest support. I have no idea what I would have done without you. I love you. And I know that if you are by my side, I can conquer anything and everything; anyone and everyone!" Sky ended his speech with thunderous applause, not a single dry eye in the room. Rain hurtled into his arms as both boys hugged tightly, the whole family looking on in pride. "No fair!" Ple said, as she, Por, and Sig, hugged them, a little group huddle making the family smile. "Thank you Rain," Sky said, leaning back from the hug. "Thank you for being my everything!"
