Missing Puzzle

Merida was staring at her reflection in the mirror. She tried to smile, moving the facial muscles, but it seemed empty. She sighed heavily, bow down her head, letting herself break a little inside. She forced herself to face the truth, it was unavoidable, her problem rested on her shoulders with a mountain's weight, making it hard to breathe day by day.
She felt tired, exhausted like she would be on road walking from years now without any stop. She looked into the mirror again. She was empty, she felt it, it was like she was missing something, something she never had. She didn't know what was it, or how she could find it out, she just wanted to get rid of this feeling. She lived her life fully, she had a good time, and still, she felt entirely sad, and it seemed like without any reason.
As our young red head tried to solve her own philosophical questions, her solution stood behind her looking at his reality bittersweetly. He was her missing puzzle, but that's the problem with missing puzzles, we only notice them when we are done with the picture, and her picture was far away from done, yet, he was impatient, he wanted her to find him.
He was tired too, tired of waiting, he wanted to make her laugh, he wanted to listen to her, he wanted to sing to her at night, he wanted to hold her in his arms, he only wanted her to know about him.
- Am I really asking so much?-he asked dreamily looking at her as he reached his hand out carefully to put a wild curl behind her ears.
- I just... I just want you to see me, as clearly as I see you.- he gulped one as he saw his hand going through her hair.
- See me... Hear me...- he unsurely reached his arms out again, and caressed her checks slowly with his fingers.
- Feel me...- he watched as his skin looked like it touched hers, but he knew, it was just an illusion. He felt her warmness, but she couldn't felt his.
- Please. - his voice become a weak whisper, only an echo.
Nothing. His oceans stared at mirror, noticing nothing. He closed his eyes painfully, he loved her, and he couldn't tell it to her. He take his hands off of her cheeks.
- Oh.
He opened his eyes to the sound, and he froze to the sight.
Merida still stared at her reflection but this time her glance was  confused, and her hands were touching her cheek where he touched it just a second earlier.
The read head started smiling, it become a grin, and she started to chuckle in disbelief.
She felt warm and cozy, and for a sudden she felt love, his love. She didn't know what happened neither he did, Hiccup was sure only in one thing. That finally, if only for a moment, she felt him.
