Daenerys Targaryen was dead

She watched as her lover, her last remaining family, the only person left she trusted, pierced her heart with a knife. She felt the cold metal plunge into her body and the taste of crimson in her mouth; felt as her cold body slumped to the floor, as she drown on her own blood. She felt the aching pain of betrayal and it tasted like poison.

As she lay there dying, she had only one wish left. To bring house Targaryen's name back to fame. For just one more moment, to right the wrongs. To live. To get revenge. But the cold still enveloped her, dragging her down until she could breathe no more. The cold hand of death had its tight grip upon her and it was not letting go. So as her eyes finally slid closed with a single tear, she heard the whispers. And they all shouted one thing.

Revenge

Daenerys awoke in the arms of a white haired woman with lilac eyes, with a similar looking man standing beside her. Her first thoughts were that the gods had answered her prayers. She was finally with her parents. Until the wails of pain rang out above her. "Alysanne, what is it?" The man asked the woman holding her. "Jaehaerys, something is wrong -I- it hurts" the frail woman whispered. Jaehaerys? Alysanne? Daenerys knew those names. They came before the first fall of house Targaryen, before the dance of the dragons.

189 years before Daenerys was supposed to be born

Daenerys was quickly taken from her mother, Alysanne, who looked pale and half dead. Jaehaerys held Daenerys tight, as his wife slowly had the life drain from her. Just as Daenerys had done only moments ago. And when the maesters pronounced her dead, he clung to the last piece of his wife. Daenerys sat quietly, watching her new father and something ignited inside her. Something that had been aching to come out again.

The fire of a dragon

And so Daenerys grew up as the baby of the family. Her elder siblings, all except Saera, detested Daenerys. Aegon, Aemon, Baelon, and Alyssa would torment Daenerys as she grew up. They were cruel and vile, making sure she never had a day of peace around them. But that too did not last long. As Aegon passed from a fever. Aemon and Baelon died fighting each other for the throne. And Alyssa died in childbirth to her second son, Daemon Targaryen. So Daenerys clung to her only sibling left, Saera until she too left Daenerys alone. She ran off to Dorne with her lover, Qoren Martell; the prince of Dorne.

Daenerys was left alone with her father, where she thrived as the heir to the throne. She was dotted on, taught to fight, how to rule, and was loved by the realm. The only problem was her nephew Viserys. He and his wife, Aemma, wanted Daenerys' crown. They were wed and already had a child so they thought they were more suited for the throne. Especially with Daenerys being a child still and having Otto Hightower, hand of the king, on their side. But Daenerys did not worry. Her father wouldn't allow anyone else to take her birthright and he even went as far as to find her a husband. One that would unite two great houses, one that loved her endlessly, and one that was coincidentally her soulmate.

Laenor Velaryon and Daenerys Targaryen were wed in 101 AC, both at the age of one and five. The two were blissfully in love and spent all their time together. Then a year later his younger sister Laena and Saera's son Rhaegar Martell-Targaryen, were wed. The celebration was beautiful, even with the absence of her elder sister, who passed after giving birth to Rhaegar in 83 AC. Then in 103 AC Daenerys was officially crowned heir, along with her husband Laenor. Where she also announced the birth of her twins, Valeska and Vaegon Velaryon; and their dragons Aegarax and Anogar. But with the start of a new life, there is an end to others. Rhaenyra's mother Aemma passes in childbirth, trying to sire a male heir for her husband.

And that's when everything changes

Viserys remarries Alicent Hightower, Rhaenyra's best friend and crush. The family is torn apart and Rhaenyra runs straight into the arms of her knight, Harwin Strong. The two quickly fall in love but Viserys does not approve of the relationship. But what he did not know was Rhaenyra was already with child. So against her father's wishes, the two wed in 105 AC, just before her siblings Aegon and Helaena Targaryen are born. Viserys had hoped that finally having a male heir would make King Jaehaerys choose him as heir to the iron throne but he did not. He adored his great grandchildren but still dotted on Daenerys and her family.

And Viserys finally snapped

So one night when a nasty storm hits the Red Keep, Daenerys is plagued with a dragon dream. One that shows just how far Viserys is willing to go just to get the crown. Daenerys gathers her twins and Laenor, taking them to Dragonstone with their dragons. And as they fly away, screams can be heard from castle. A fire erupts in the tower and quickly engulfs the castle. Daenerys watches as her home burns and as her father's room explodes with green flames.

King Jaehaerys was dead
And to the realm,
So was Daenerys.
