Chapter Fifteen
‘Hey, beautiful.’
The melodious voice reached Hermione’s ears and she turned to see a long figure lean against the door. He was wearing a white shirt and black trousers, simple but formal enough for a dinner at his girlfriend’s parents’ house.
Draco.
‘Hey,’ Hermione whispered, putting the eyeliner down.
‘You don't need make up. You look so beautiful; too beautiful.’ Draco whispered, grinning at her dress and heels.
Hermione walked to him and hugged him, ‘I missed you.’
Draco made to kiss her but Hermione pulled back.
‘Not yet,’ Hermione said, looking at his confused expression. She lightly touched his furrowed eyebrows and he relaxed a little bit.
Draco still looked confused, ‘Why not? ‘
‘Just because,’ Hermione walked past him, brushing her hand gently against his.
Draco grabbed her arm, pulling her back to him.
‘Something wrong?’ He asked.
‘I'll tell you later.’ Hermione said.
‘Hermione what is it? Just tell me.’ Draco said, hugging her.
‘Mrs Weasley wants to meet you.’ Hermione admitted, ‘But-’
‘Then I'll meet her. Don't be so worried, I don't like it.’ Draco said, pushing a strand of hair off her face.
‘Okay...’ Hermione said, unsurely, ‘are you sure?’
Draco shrugged, ‘I’d rather not but if you’re getting so worried over it, I will. Plus, now is my chance to show them I’m not just an ex death eater. That I am a human.’
Hermione nodded slowly, touching his face lightly, ‘come on, we’d better go downstairs.’
Hermione tried to walk past him but he caught her arm, bringing her around again as she chuckled slightly.
‘I want a kiss.’ Draco stated, waiting.
Hermione smiled and walked the two steps back to him. She slipped her arms around his shoulders and moved closer. He moved closer too, a small smile fixed on his face.
Hermione suddenly turned around and ran, laughing to herself. She ran downstairs, kicking her heels off on the way since they were hurting her feet already, and knew Draco was behind her. She nearly got to the living room when he caught her.
‘Oh, no you don't,’ Draco said and pressed his lips to her.
Hermione smiled against his lips as they kissed, loving his soft yet slightly chapped lips. She felt butterflies dance in her stomach and grinned when they pulled back, glancing around to check they were alone.
‘Let's go!’ Hermione said, composing herself as she opened the living room door.
‘Hermione!’ Narcissa said. She got up and hugged her, ‘You look great!’
‘As do you!’ Hermione said, hugging her right back. She had missed Narcissa which was odd for her since they hardly knew each other but Hermione knew she was really nice.
‘Thank you. I've just been talking to your parents, they're great company,’ Narcissa said, making Hermione’s parents smile appreciatively at her
‘Come. Sit.’ Narcissa said pulling her to sit next to her. Draco took the seat opposite.
Narcissa and Hermione’s parents seemed to get on great. They talked and laughed, like old friends. Hermione smiled, listening and occasionally answering questions. She looked to Draco, who was looking to her. He raised his eyebrows and cocked his head to the door. Motioning to get away from the boring talk.
Hermione smiled and looked back to her parents and Narcissa, deliberately ignoring him.
He sighed making her look back to him. Draco was full on pouting, showing his puppy dog eyes to make her laugh. As expected, Hermione laughed out loud and everyone turned to her as Draco immediately composed his face.
‘When I told you that story you didn't even laugh!’ Mr Granger said, thinking Hermione was laughing at his stories.
This made Hermione laugh even more. Draco smirked, feeling his stomach flip at the sound of her laugh. She really was so cute...
‘Let's get you some water,’ Draco said, pulling her up, using this opportunity to escape.
They walked into the kitchen as Hermione’s laugh tapered off.
‘You're terrible.’ Hermione exclaimed, pushing him away when he tried to kiss her.
She took a glass from her brown cupboard and filled it with water and turned around, her back against the sink. Draco was staring at her.
‘What? Do I have something on my face?’ Hermione asked, touching her cheek.
‘No... you're beautiful.’ Draco said, walking forward.
He placed a hand on her neck and pressed his lips to hers. Hermione kissed him for only a second before pulling back.
‘Nice,’ Hermione said, laughing, ‘that was good distraction to get me to kiss you.’
‘Well, I tried! But you are beautiful,’ Draco chuckled, kissing her cheek.
Hermione moved to kiss him on his lips. Draco, still kissing her, took the glass and placed it on the countertop. He grabbed her from the small of her back and-
‘Excuse me,’ a voice said, chuckling.
Both pulled apart like they had been shocked, the same expression on their faces. Narcissa stood with her hands folded in front of her chest. She looked amused at their red faces.
‘We can go if you can't contain yourself, Draco,’ Narcissa said, rolling her eyes.
‘No... No I'll contain myself.’ Draco whispered, no longer a bright red.
Narcissa laughed and walked out, leaving Hermione still too shocked to move. Her eyes turned to Draco and in a second both of them were shaking with laughter.
---
The dinner passed with stories being shared and Narcissa and Mrs Granger got on like they had known each other for years. Mrs Granger had made the most tastiest dinner for them. They had chicken and rice. Plain but cooked perfectly.
When it was time to leave, Hermione reminded her mother of their earlier conversation.
‘Oh, I nearly forgot. Narcissa,’ Mrs Granger called out and spoke again, when she had everyone's attention, ‘I was wondering in the summer we could all go on holiday, somewhere nice? Just so we get to know each other better because- well, let's face it....’ She winked once and nodded to Draco and Hermione.
Narcissa chuckled at their confused faces.
‘Of course we should!’ Narcissa smiled, squeezing Draco’s hand briefly.
‘I'm not sure if you are familiar with the Weasley’s? And Harry Potter? We could ask them to come,’ Mr Granger smiled at them.
Narcissa and Draco froze. Hermione clutched at Draco’s arm and he composed himself, his mother looked unsure.
‘Well, I don't have a problem.’ Narcissa said, ‘but you may want to ask them first. Our family have a lot of... differences.
‘Well, we should be going,’ Draco said to avoid any questions being asked since he didn’t want to talk about that just yet. He stood up and Hermione sighed.
Mrs Granger nodded and they said there goodbyes. They shook hands, they hugged. Draco stole a kiss from Hermione when no one was looking.
‘Tomorrow, we’re going to the Weasley’s?’ Draco asked, quietly, looking at his girlfriend.
‘Yes, don’t worry about it,’ Hermione replied.
They hugged and Draco walked to the door. Narcissa grabbed his arm and they walked down the street as Hermione watched from the door. Narcissa muttered to Draco. He looked back and winked, confusing Hermione. And then they were gone.
Hermione turned to her parents. They were looking at her proudly, like she had won a medal.
‘Hermione, you have no idea how adorable you and Draco are,’ Mrs Granger said, making Hermione blush.
‘My little girls growing up. Got a boyfriend and all,’ Mr Granger commented and was practically bursting with pride.
Hermione couldn't hold it in any longer, nearly suffocating her father with a hug.
‘I love you so much,’ Hermione said, her voice filled with emotion.
‘We love you,’ her parents chorused, hugging her back just as tight.
‘Mum, I'm going to the Burrow tomorrow, with Draco, probably before you're awake... is that alright?’ Hermione asked nervously.
‘Sure, sweetie. You're old enough, you don't have to ask permission but... Be careful whatever you do,’ Mrs Granger said, looking at her sternly.
Hermione nodded, blushing slightly. She said goodbye to her parents and went upstairs, thinking she would get ready for bed. She opened her door and found someone standing their by her bookshelf. She switched the light on suddenly and the person turned around. Her mouth opened to realise it was Draco.
He held up one finger to his mouth and moved to her, closing the door behind her.
‘What are you doing here?’ Hermione whispered.
‘I forgot to ask you what time I should get you to go to Weasley’s? Well actually, I did it on purpose. I wasn't ready to leave you just yet.’ Draco said, flashing her a smile.
‘Draco, we'll go early in the morning. Now you can go.’ Hermione whispered, pushing him.
‘It's like you don't want to be with me,’ Draco said, his frown deepening into his face, ‘even tonight, you were pushing me away when I tried to kiss you. I just missed you, Hermione.’
‘It's not that Draco.’ Hermione sighed, ‘I'm just tired.’
‘Bye.’ Draco said, obviously angry.
‘Draco, don't be like that.’ Hermione whispered, moving forwards and placing a hand on his stomach, feeling his abs.
‘Hermione. I'll get you at 8 in the morning. Go to sleep.’ Draco said, moving away from her.
Hermione frowned at him, wondering how much more stubborn her could get. She was tired from their evening dinner and he just had to read into it. It really bothered Hermione sometimes.
‘Can't you just let something go? Do you have to make a huge deal?’ Hermione struggled not to shout.
‘Go. To. Sleep.’ Draco said, angrily.
‘Fine!’ Hermione said, just as angrily.
She took her pillows off her bed and climbed in, not bothering about her clothes, she pulled the covers over her head. There was a small sigh and a pair of hands were trying to get the covers off of her but, as stubborn as she is, she wouldn't let go.
‘You’re sleeping in your sexy dress?’ Draco asked as Hermione decided to ignore him.
Draco then sighed once again and pulled the covers up from the foot of her bed, he slid in next to her.
‘Go away.’ Hermione said, turning her back to him, under the covers.
Draco kissed her neck, hugging her from behind.
‘I'm sorry. I love you.’ he whispered.
Hermione sniffed.
‘Are you crying?’ Draco exclaimed.
He got up, pulling the covers up with him and saw Hermione’s face, she had indeed been shedding a few tears. Draco pulled her up and stared at her. He pulled their lips closer and closer. Hermione tried to pull back but Draco wouldn't let her. He finally got his lips onto hers.
He kissed her, licking her bottom lip but she wouldn't open her mouth. He nibbled her lip, careful to not hurt her, and she let out an involuntary sigh, opening her mouth. Draco kissed her more passionately for a few minutes. He gently lay down with her.
They ended up lying on the bed together, entangled.
‘I love you too.’ Hermione said, smiling.
‘I know.’ Draco said, smiling.
‘So modest.’ Hermione, rolled her eyes.
They were both at peace. Cuddled together. Draco lifted their entwined hands into the air.
‘So... We're going on holiday together.’ Draco said, casually, put their hands down again.
‘Yup,’ Hermione cuddled closer to Draco and yawned.
Her eyes closed off their own accord and her breathing slowed as she drifted off to sleep.
‘Go to sleep.’ Draco whispered, stroking her hair.
And she did. She slept like a baby.
