Chapter four Dungeons and professor Snape
Astoria's P.O.V
The hall was abuzz with conversation about me as I went to take my seat at the table. When I went to sit down with the other first years they scooted together so I couldn't sit down. They looked at me as if I were some kind of giant arachnid. A pale hand landed on my shoulder and white blond hair came into my peripheral vision and he said, "Come sit with us." He swept off toward the head of the table and motioned for Goyle to scoot down and beckoned me over. After taking a seat I began to fill my plate with all manner of goodies, from pot roast to hot rolls.
The deserts looked even better there was one thing ruining my apatite however and that was the fact that Crab and Goyle were stuffing their faces. Draco looked to be disgusted as well, he scooted over and began to whisper in my ear and said, "How about we leave this scene and head to the dungeons to enjoy our dinner. We can get to know each other better" My tone was surprised as I said, "I didn't think you would be interested in making friends you seem self sufficient. That's how my sister tells it anyway, I however don't make judgements until a person shows me their true colors." My eyes may have been playing tricks on me but I could have swore a tiny smile passed across his face but it vanished and was replaced with a smirk. He got up and went striding out of the great hall plate in hand I soon followed him out.
The hallway was empty and Draco seemed to vanish. I walked forward and something jumped out from behind the pillar so I did what any normal person would do, threw a punch. My eyes fell on the figure clutching their nose on the floor only to find that it was Draco who had received my wrath. My tone was scolding as I said, "That's what you get for sneaking up on me you jerk. Oh and I'm sorry." He stood up after wiping the blood off of his face and said in a slightly scared tone, "Geez woman you could have permanently messes up my face, then where would I be. I simply shook my head and said,"Honestly it would be an improvement. Your not hurt that badly now continue to show me to the dungeons. "
He gave a huff and a sigh but he continued on and that was all that mattered. We walked through creepy deserted hallways and went down staircase after staircase of ancient stone steps. We then traipsed through a corridor lined with suites of armor. We continued on and finally arrived in the dungeon. Cells lined the walls and there were even a few medieval torture devices, lovely atmosphere. We finally arrived at a gigantic oak door.
My eyes meet with the ones of the snake ornament that served to accept the password and let the students in. Draco spoke and said in a sure tone, "Draconius" Well this will do wonders for his ego even the bloody pass word had his name written all over it. We entered the dark room and with a flourish of his wand the whole room was lit by the light from the fire, to bend light around the room like that was incredible. I had always heard Hogwarts had enchanted fireplaces. Now that there was light I was free to observe what must have been the common room. Silver and green were the main color scheme but there was some purple and black thrown in as well. The leather furniture was black and meshed well with the rest of the decor. I really hope that's a false skull in the corner.
Draco began to walk around the room he then turned and said, "The girls dorms are down stairs and the boys upstairs unless you have a private room then you stay right on this floor. I of course have a private one." He then fell backwards on the couch and put his hands behind his head. My tone was full of pride as I said, "I have a private room too so don't think your special." He simply rolled his eyes and sat up, he then pulled me down on top of him and said, "You dare insult the Slytherin prince in his kingdom?" My tone was challenging as I said, "I don't see any prince in here all I see is a sad little dragon who ran out of steam."
He laughed for a moment but then regained his cool composure it was almost as if he were afraid to show emotion. I had seen that trait in many pure blood families at my parents parties. I was never taught to hide my emotions my parents and sister said feel freely. It saddened me to see someone with so much potential be held back simply because they are taught only to feel arrogance and superiority. My thoughts were interrupted when a tall pale figure with greasy black hair and black robes came sweeping into the room. The look of terror on Draco face said this was the man in charge.
A cold tone rang through the room and said, "Mr.Malfoy, Ms.Greengrass what do you think you are doing?" My tone was shaken as I said, "You must be professor Snape" He simply grunted and said, "You are correct Ms. Greengrass, now I assume you and Mr.Malfoy will be turning in soon. Also the rest of the house is coming back so do try and control yourself." He swept out of the room just as gracefully. The sound of pounding footsteps indicated that professor Snape had been correct and we were about to have company and a lot of it. Draco sat up and put me off to side so it would seem like he could care less about me. Well this was going to be a fun challenge getting the Slytherin prince to show emotion. Let the game begin.
